Where are Mail attachments (IMAP)

can i access mail attachments in "Local Mail" or IMAP based email?
i have a series of 3-ring binders with resumes and portfolios in them and i am trying to move this "database" to a digital database. since i am not sure that i have sorted all the EMAILS from which these resumes and portfolios came, i don't want to have to find every email sent with these printed documents and it would be much easier to scroll through the attachments in coverflow and grab the ones i need digitally while trashing the corresponding paper version...
ideas?
thanks.

Mail attachments are stored on the server. You need to tap on the attachment to down load them to the iPad. The same holds true for a desktop or laptop computer.
If your need to view an attachment where you don't have an Internet connection it is best to open the attachment before hand when you an internet connection.

• Where are mail attachments stored?

On my Macbook Pro all attachments are available to be opened when I'm not connected to the internet. I assumed this was true with ipad but could not open attachments on plane yesterday. So, I assume in ipad attachments are stored on server (I use mobile me) and must be opened/downloaded individually then saved in other apps like Goodreader or Pages. If this is true, is there any way to automatically store attachments like a mac does in mail downloads?

• TS3899 Where are the attachments on iphone?

Where are the attachments on iphone?

They are with the mail message. You can only save certain email attachments, such as pictures or certain documents based on what apps you have loaded on your device.

• Why are mail attachments winmail.dat?

Why are the attachments on my emails coming through as winmail.dat now? Even Word (.doc) and photos (.jpg) attachments come through as winmail.dat on my macbook, ipad and iphone.

Did they come from someone using Windows?

• Where are junk attachments?

I have at least one email address that I filter to junk which perpetually sends me large attachments. These attachments don't show up in the Downloads folder, where do they go? I have finally put that offending address on the filter list at my server so I hopefully won't get any more. But Mail does show the attachments being downloaded and I'm wondering if they go somewhere or just disappear into the void. Thanx.

They are saved with the email itself either on your hard drive in the Mail folder or on your server (for IMAP accounts.)
If you set your Junk mail to be deleted periodically then the junk mail and its attachment will disappear.

• Where are Mail downloads kept?

Did a fresh install on a new Pro and not carry any problems forward. I can't seem to locate the "Mail Downloads" folder on ML, as I moved from 10.6.X, and it was in the user library.
I am trying to get back all the Mail attachements pre move that are no loger available. Where do I find the dowloads for mail in 6.2?
thanks for any help

The Mail Downloads folder is on ~/Library, being ~ your user folder.
OS X Lion and Mountain Lion have hidden the Library folder of your user folder because of security reasons, so to access to Mail Downloads, open Finder, select Go menu > Go to Folder, and type ~/Library/Mail Downloads.
If you want to show the Library folder on Finder, open Terminal and type:
chflags nohidden ~/Library

• Where are mail boxes

Where do I find mail boxes and messages. I am trying to transfer data from an old iMac G4 to a new iMac. I've had lots of trouble and posted several messages here and in other forums. I think the only thing left to do is find my mail from the old Mac and put it on the new Mac. I tried importing from a folder called "mail" and got many of my old messages but in a confused state. There's white folders and blue folders resembling but not identical to my folder configuration in Mail. (the folders came through in the transfer but not the messages.)
Geoff

Sorry about being so vague. I'm dealing with 2 computers, not 2 sets of files within one computer.
Mac 1 is a iMac G4 that has been replaced by Mac 2, a recently purchase iMac.
When I first tried transferring data I attempted to do it from a TimeMachine backup on an external hard disk. I did not have a fire wire cable to connect the two macs and the sales person told me to use time machine from the external disk. That hard disk was partitioned with one partition for TimeMachine and one that I used for CCC cloning. I followed the migration assistant but the new Mac did not see the Time Machine partition, only the cloned partition. It saw it as another computer. I transferred data from that. All went well, until I realized I had not updated the clone; the clone was about 3 weeks old; I didn't have recent data.
Then I learned I also transferred some problems into the new Mac which I'll not reiterate here. Trying to make a long story short, I've posted several times on these forums and spent several hours on the phone with Mac support and updated/re-transferred data several times.
At some point I lost a week's worth of recent email. Now I have 2 weeks worth of recent email on the new Mac, all the folders/mailboxes I had in the old Mac but they are empty. All the old (pre 3 weeks ago) email is still in the old Mac.
I've tried importing the mail folder from the clone. Now I have a pale (as compared to the other baby blue folders) folder in my mailbox sidebar labeled "Import" that has a confusing mess of my old mail. I think all the old mail is there but I don't know how to get it into the "proper" folders. ie the folders it was in on the old Mac.
The end result is I have been using both computers. Too look up email from the past I use the old computer.
I guess I should have paid the $100 to have the Mac sales people transfer the data.

• Where are Mail e-mails, Safari bookmarks located?

My MacBook Pro was having problems (constant restarting, no desktop) yesterday so I ran Disk Utility from the Leopard Install disk. A few permissions and disk errors were repaired. I ran the utility again twice and both times no errors. But I still kept getting the constant restarts, so I did and Archive and Install. No problems this time, computer rebooted fine. However, when I open Mail all my previous e-mails are not in the account, nor are my Safari bookmarks.
This did not happen when I upgraded my four other Macs to Leopard. Is there a location where they might be found, and how do I do this?
TIA,
John

Your mail is in Library/Mail. If you go in there and delete the Envelope Index file (while Mail is not running) the next time you launch it it will offer to re-import your mail.
Your Safari bookmarks are in Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist

• Where are my attachments in iCAL under iCloud

I just switched on iCloud and noticed that all my attachments on previous iCAL entries are GONE. Also, if I add a new entry in iCAL now, I cannot attach a file. How can I get this back? I have a lot of files (PDF) that are date sensative that were attached to specific dates in iCAL. I like most everything else about iCLOUD but this is is major pain. How can I get my iCAL attachments back? I can forgo iCAL in iCLOUD any suggestion as to how to get my ical attachments back?

Are you talking about "Gallery" albums?
If so they are not stored anywhere in iCloud.

• Where are Mail folders in [User]/Library?

I get (but hate) Apple's striving for minimalism, but am I correct that it's now impossible to access Mail folders in the [User]/Library?
There must be a solution.

Here's the answer:

The On My Mac mailboxes are stored at "~/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes/". The Library folder is hidden since OS X Lion, so use the Finder's "Go To Folder" menu in the "Go" menu and enter that address.

• Where Are Mail Notes Supposed To Be

Can someone please verify that when you create Notes in Apple Mail and synch them to an iPhone...you will find the Notes in both Notes folder as well as your inbox folder.
Should they be in both places?

I'm now confused where I installed xosview from. pacman -Ss doesn't show anything for xosview, but I installed (per pacman.log) both xosview and gkrellm on the same date (2009-11-14). I haven't installed anything at all from AUR yet. Did it recently get moved from community to AUR?
To the initial problem: using ~/.Xdefaults would certainly work but the easy solution for me was to make a new symlink of my app-defaults directory into one of the places it looks. The reason I didn't realize that xosview was so old was that on my Gentoo box, there was an update in December. However, it turns out that release was just to add a patch to fix the app-defaults problem. I don't imagine Gentoo would mind Arch using the same patch, so I'll suggest it in the AUR page for xosview.

• Where are stored attachments in guided procedures process??

Any one knows?

Hi Julio,
The history of the process is not lost after the process is finished. You can see the process instances at NWA->Availability and Performance Management->Process Monitoring->Guided Procedures->Process Instances Tab.
Here you can Search the Process running/completed/terminated/erroneous/archived Instances based on Initiator/Administrator/Owner/Overrseer userid forlast week/last month/last year/At any Time etc. In the result that you get after search, you can see all the data for each process task. You can see Input Context,Output Context, Processor,Attachment etc.
Also on the main page for this screen, there are few other tabs which can give you other information about the Process/Process templated and other GP objects.
Regards,
Ajay

• Where are my attachments?

Can anyone help me please. Since starting to use iTunes, when we receive an email with an attachment in Microsoft Outlook and we go to open that attachment, iTunes automatically opens but I cannot find the attachment anywhere within iTunes. I have iTunes set so that it is not the default player but this has not helped. We do not seem to be able to open our attachments anywhere. Does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks in advance

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

• Where are Mail notes stored as documents? I need to recover one...

Somehow an important note in my mail program is gone. I have backed up with Time Machine but do not know how to find the note. I typed words that were in the note and get nothing. Please help! Thank you!

Don't try to recover the file in the Finder. Use Time Machine from within Mail. In Mail, go to the mailbox that should have the note, then enter Time Machine from there.
