Where are my bookmarks?

They were there before I upgraded but now they are gone and Apple sent me a default set instead. Any ideas where these can be imported from in the "Previous Systems" folders or do I have to set them all up again?

Sorry, didn't work but luckily I have a lot of backups and I managed to find copies that were sufficiently recent to reinstate. The "Previous Systems" folder is not always fully populated - if the Leopard upgrade trashes your user ids it seems to "forget" to copy some user related files.
Basically this is untested software being trialled by the user base. In 3 months Leopard might be a good product.

  • Where are the bookmark records located?

I am buying a new PC. I wish to use the same profile in my new download of Thunderbird. I plan to copy my existing Thunderbird profile and to import it into the new PC, so I can begin using Thunderbird quickly and effortlessly.
Where are the bookmarks located, please?

  • Where are Safari Bookmarks Saved for Restore?

I need to backup and reinstall MAC OS X but I have no idea where all my bookmarks from Safari are stored so I can be sure I don't lose them.
    Thank You
    Patrick

    Hello patrick:
In answer to your question, I "think" they are in your home folder (~library>safari.... bookmarks.plist). However, I have never tested that premise.
If I were you, I would do an archive and install:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
An A&I will install a fresh OS X while preserving your files, programs, and settings. A backup of everything is always a good idea before any software changes.
IMHO, there is almost NO reason to do an erase and install.

  • Where are preview bookmarks kept now?

Preview bookmarks used to be exportable from user library preferences file, but under Preview 5.5 that seems to have gone.
Where can I now find a  file with my Preview bookmarks?

Open a new tab or window. type '''about:support''' in the address
    box and press enter.
    '''Or'''
Press the '''Alt''' or '''F10''' key to bring up the tool bar.
    Then '''Help > Troubleshooting Information.'''
Under the page logo on the left side you will see '''Application Basics.'''
Under this find '''Profile Folder.''' To it’s right press the button
'''Show Folder.''' This will open your file browser to the current
    Firefox profile. Now '''Close FireFox.'''
Enter the '''bookmarkbackups''' folder. This is
where Firefox makes backups of your bookmarks. Look for the
file you want to restore (check the time / date). Right click on
that file and select '''Copy.''' Now go back to the parent folder
where you started. Right click in the folder and select '''Paste.'''
Rename the file '''bookmarks.html''' by adding
'''.old''' to it. The file you just pasted here, rename it to
'''bookmarks.html.''' After you are done, restart Firefox.

  • Where are safari bookmarks stored

need to locate  where in the system Safari stores the bookmarks file.

You're right, AndyBall, I'd forgotten that one... Though plist files aren't easy to decrypt, and usually need Xcode installed to edit, this is where bookmarks settings are stored.
Antonio, most of what you want to do with your bookmarks (edit names, URLs, delete them, etc...) can be done directly from Safari. What do you need to do with your bookmarks, exactly?

  • Where are the bookmarks after Firefox Sync?

I appear to have successfully synched my android device with my Firefox desktop. The Firefox android settings show "Connected" enabled, and I have a date and time for Last update.
However, I can't see the bookmarks (or any other other sync data). Would you please let me know where/how I access them on my android device (Samsung Galaxy S2)?
    Thanks,
    Ray

Thank you ... that is very helpful indeed!
I have nested bookmark folders. Presumably Mozilla knows that when pressing the 'go to previous screen' back button from a nested folder on an android device, you are returned to the original web page itself rather than the previous nested folder?
    Thank you.

  • Where are the bookmarks???

I know how to store a new bookmark, but then "how" do you access that bookmark??? I have searched endlessly and cannot find where the hell the bookmarks are located.
    Thanks a lot in advance!

If you tap the "awesome bar" you should get a 3-tab display of top sites, bookmarks and history. I'm sure someday I'll remember to look there before looking in the menu, but it's taking a while.

  • Where are my bookmarks in Apple maps after the iOS 8 update?

What happened to my bookmarks in Apple maps now that I have upgraded to iOS 8?

They will show up when you are in the field to Seach or Enter an Address:
Bookmarks for maps in iOS 8 missing
When you are getting Directions between 2 locations, however, they don't show up (for me); just start typing the name of the Favorite or Recent or Contact, and choices will appear.

  • Lost in the new format of forum. Where are my bookmarks?

I am no able to get to see the places I replied and/or bookmarked (I think there was some such feature earlier that I used in the forum). My own cxontributions, I do see, but not sure if it is showing all of them . Anyone knows what happened to earlier bookmarks? "Why cant we be happy and settled with things working fine? Alas, that is what we belive to be progress."

Ha! the enite list as it used to look time ago. Found under "Content", agian in Profile page. Solved.
I do wonder, if people use these forums like fb to see, learn and forget. For me there are some posts/discussions that I need to "not forget" and keep returning. This is a forum, with very specific content, and that is why so many communities. One can be and more likely member of many communities. I personally am not the kind to liek the distraction of feeds when I am specifically looking for some answers and discuss very specific things. This forum is not a "news feed" for me (for some contributing expert I can still see that, but not for me). I "search", I "ask" and my learning sometimes need "bookmarking" - for example, color management area has given me great answers and discssions - it is serious knowledge - it is not fit to be seen as some fb feed!

  • Where are my bookmarks and tools? I have downloaded Firefox a 2nd time and they don't appear to be anywhere that I can see.

When I turned on my computer this morning {it's a laptop with windows bought in 2007 and no it doesn't have vista} I noticed most everything was gone from my bar at the top of the page. It has a line with home and stop and reload current page and my Amazon button from yesterday. No bookmarks and no tools. One line has most visited, getting started, latest headlines, real player, suggested sites, web slice gallery, and free hotmail.
Okay, I found my bookmarks. I was in the shortcuts page and there was my answer. Perhaps I can find the rest that way? We'll see.

In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu on a toolbar.
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

  • Where are my backed up bookmarks on my external drive?

    Firefox backup issue:
This is concerning restoring my Bookmarks after having to replace my laptop PC. For the past several years I’ve been backing up my laptop to an external hard drive. I’ve always included the User subdirectory in that backup. The User/Dave/Appdata/Local/Mozilla/Firefox/Profile s/d is included. Today I needed to restore bookmarks from a prior backup in April, 2012 after reading the Firefox help on this subject, I accessed my external drive and looked in the s/d mentioned above. However when I clicked on the “wp83jzms.default” file, instead of seeing a list of backup dates from which to choose, I only saw files with “Cache” and “unclassifier” in the file name. Where are the backed up bookmarks from that date?
I also noticed that a different backup had stopped capturing files part way into the Local s/d so that the Mozilla s/d was not written to backup. Wonder what’s up there?
    I’m using Windows 7 and Firefox 13.0.1

That is the wrong profile folder and only stores the cache files.
You need the profile folder part in AppData\Roaming to get the main profile folder files.

  • After restart, MANY bookmarks are GONE....  where are they???

Recently I have had to do a lot of install/restart... install/restart.... install restart (about 8 so far today)... that is annoying enough in itself, but then I noticed that a ton of my bookmarks are GONE. Where the heck are they and how to I get them back....???
and how do I make that blue marble stop bouncing..... I'm tired of the install/restarts already!!!!!
    Thanks.

Safari bookmarks should be found in /Users/<your name>/Library/Safari and are named 'Bookmarks.plist' If you can't find them there then do a search of your Mac or alternatively if you have a backup restore them from there.
sig is quite correct in saying that some updates won't show up until after another update or updates have been done so it is not unusual to have to go through the update process more than once. However, it would appear from what you have posted that something is not working properly as the number of times you say that Software Update has run appears to be excessive. I suggest you start by opening Disk Utility and repairing permissions then run Software Update, make a note of the updates installed including the versions. Open Software Update again and see if the updates listed to be installed are new or the same ones you have just installed. If they are new updates then install them and repeat the process until you get a message to the effect that your software is up to date. In the event that you see updates that should have been installed but weren't then go to the Apple Downloads page, search for the relevant software, download it and try to install from the downloaded file.
Post back if you have any problems.
