Where are my books?

I love the layout of the new iBooks app, the ease of setting up categories, etc. The problem is, now I can't find my original files on my computer! Where does iBooks store the epubs and pdfs I imported from my hard drive? It's like they just disappeared into this huge iBooks black hole! I thought they'd be in a folder called 'iBooks' in my Documents or something, but I can't find them. Can someone help? Thank you!

Thanks for the info! I took a glance in my user library where you mentioned and sure enough, there is a nice mess of strangely-named pdf and epub files, which I am going to go ahead and assume are my books! Just before you replied, I realized I could select the books in the iBooks browser, and simply drag-and-drop into a folder on my desktop. This keeps the original file names, but nothing is organized. At least I have my files back and I can create a meaningful backup. I agree with you, Apple could have done so much better here.

I sync-ed iTunes 10.6.3.25 on Win7 with new iPad3 WiFi/3G and iTunes shows (on my PC) that I have 590 "ebooks" (PDF's & a few epub's) on my iPad, but for the life of me I can't seem to get to them on the iPad3 itself. If I open iTunes on the iPad3 it only shows a bland grey screen with a link to the "iTunes Stores Terms and Conditions…"? And my iBooks is empty, so is Acrobat Reader which I installed?
What gives? Gulp… help!?

I downloaded the Kindle app on my iPad1 tonight, logged into my Amazon.com account and was able to download the books I had bought on my Kindle to my iPad! I am a VERY HAPPY CAMPER!

Where are the iBook files located in OS X 10.10.1? I do NOT want to use iCloud but much prefer to make hard backups of all my books but I can't find the files

Trying to restore an iPhoto book that was messed up. Went to Restore to find it to restore it but no dice... Where is the iPhoto book project stored?

they are not "stored" - they are simply entries in the iPhoto databases - to restore a book you must restore the entier iPhoto library from when the book was there

EReader - where are the books and is this the original 'reader'?

If I sound confused, it's because I am. First, I have a Sony Clie NX70V, but this confusion isn't really related to that. Sony says to do whatever I feel like with ereaders, and the fact the people refer to having been given 'ereader' as a TXT and PDF reader, on some of their Clies seems irrelevant. Mine did not come with 'ereader'. I downloaded software with that name both to my XP desktop and to my Clie, without a hitch. (In fact, I want to say that the whole Palm experience has been a complete pleasure.) But it seems that, like Fictionwise, of which it is a branch, Ereader.com is purchase only, more or less, and the software itself does not allow you to just browse for a directory of txt books and open them. (Even Mobireader allows that, though it's a bit hidden.) It says no books are installed, on the Clie, and that's it.
So, is there some OTHER software named "ereader" out there that was originally put on Palms and Clies? If not, can someone point me towards it?Orjustexplain?Thankyou!

Where are my mini books !

This morning (Wed 27th Sept 06) I sent an order for 2x 6 mini books (12) and I don't think they got to their destination, 5 hours later I was still asked not to quit Aperture as the last of my 6 books were not yet sent...I decided this was an error as it never takes more that 10 mins to send mini books. Now I am left in limbo land "Where are my books" have they arrived. As a professional using Aperture I need answers to these questions but I have know way of finding out if they arrived in Holland and this is not good enough.

I'm glad everything worked out for you, but for godsake start transferring purchases onto your computer. Occasionally things are no longer available from iTunes/App Store, for whatever reason, but if you transfer purchases you'll at least have a copy on your computer.

Until Apple negotiates rights to distribute the ebooks you want in your country, you can try using the Kindle and Nook apps instead.

I want to change my contacts so they are all in first letter first name order like they are on my phone. I have googled similiar questions but people have said look up a file and drag it into your desktop. I dont understand this. only just bought a mac and its very confusing. Where are such files? when i open the address book where is the preferences tab or option as I cant even see it?? any help appreciated, spent far too much time on this already.

I have just downloaded and paid for the Lightroom 6 upgrade. Blurb tells me I have over 100 customisable layouts in the book module. I don't, I only have 3 or 4 very basic ones. The Adobe TV videos talk about lots of customisable layouts. Where are they?

On Mail...
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
For Address Book, quit AB...
Files...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist
Folders...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/com.apple.AddressBook/
