Where are my documents and data?

This sounds silly...I've stored Textedit docs (I THINK) on my iCloud in the past. How do I retrieve and download these docs on my new iPad? Where do they "live"?

If you have used Migration Assistant, you should know that Migration Assistant creates a new user with your migrated files.
The only thing you have to do is to go to  > Log Out, and log in the new user that Migration Assistant has created, so you will access to your files

  • Where is the documents and data option?

I don't have the documents and data switch in iCloud settings on my iPhone 6. Ive checked my friends iPhone 6 and he has it. I've tried to lookup a possible answer but all I have found is to remove my profile which I don't have.
    I just have one iCloud.
    Any ideas?

No I don't, I don't have Yosemite on my macbook yet. Will it benefit me If I put iCloud drive on my phone even if I don't have it on my macbook?
The reason I want to be able to fix this issue is because I have an app: Clear that I want to sync with iCloud so that it matches my macbook Clear app. When I try to turn on iCloud in the apps settings on my phone it tells me that I have to enable iCloud documents & data.
    Thanks for the help!

what happens if i turn documents and data option off

This is what Apple says about documents on icloud.com (from http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4910):
    iWork for iOS apps
For documents created with the iWork for iOS apps, you can download those files by visiting icloud.com/iwork on a Mac or PC and downloading a copy.  After downloading the files, you should back them up using the normal methods you use for backing up local files such as Time Machine, manually copying files to external hard drives, and burning to CD/DVD.
    Other apps
For other apps using iCloud Documents, contact the app developer for more information on how to keep a copy of that app's data.
If you go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, you will see a list of the apps that are storing documents and data on iCloud (under Documents & Data).  You can tap each item listed there to see the file names of any documents.

Do you mean from your iPhone?
Documents & Data are not taking up any space in iTunes.Delete some apps.
Select the iPhone in iTunes and remove the apps.
Or on the iPhone, Settings > General > Usage.
THis will show how mach space each app and its data is using. You can delete them here.

  • What type of files are included as document and data on my iphone

what type of files are included as document and data on my iPhone.  These files are showing a considerable amount of data being used but I don't know what type of things are included in this??

    Hello dsouz,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand wanting to know what data is being stored in Documents & Data and how to manage that space. You can view and remove what is being stored there using the instructions located in the attached article.
    iCloud: Remove documents from iCloud
WARNING:    When you delete items that are stored in iCloud, they are removed from all your devices immediately and permanently.
Remove iCloud documents using your iOS device
On an iOS device set up for iCloud Documents & Data, do one of the following:
With iOS 8: Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage, then tap Manage Storage.
With iOS 7: Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage.
Under Documents & Data, tap the app that has a document you want to delete, then tap Edit.
    Best regards,
    Joe

Make sure you sync photos to computer then delete from Camera Roll. (Camera Roll photos are part of Documents & Data).
Delete some apps on the iPhone.
    Then Restore iPhone in iTunes.

Yes, that's why I recommend one have more than TimeMachine as a backup because if certain files or folders are corrupted on the TM drive, your not logging into your migrated user account or not be able to transfer it what so ever.
Then it's a REAL PAIN and costs $99 to bit read the TM drive to get the files out, then it's mess to go through and sort all the empty placeholders from the real files as TM doesn't save duplicates in each state, just uses the previous state's copy if there are no changes.
If you create the same named user account on the new machine, and simply transfer files via a USB thumb drive and place say music contents into the Music folder, then it will work too.
Look into making clones of your boot drive, the benefit here is it's bootable, you can access the drive directly to pick and choose files, run the computer just like before etc.

  • Do iOS apps that are ONLINE translators (e.g requires Wifi or internet, such as Google Translate) store every translation you type in the Documents and Data files?

I have several apps that are translators. Many of them are for offline use, (especially ones that cost money) but they keep eating away at my memory with every translation I type. What about the ONLINE translators, like GOOGLE TRANSLATE? Do they store the translations inthe app's Documents and Data, or not at all? Please help me! I'm dying to know! Also, does Google Translate charge you money for unlimited translations, or is it entirely free?

No no no, thank you. However, I learned just now that "flash storage" does not equal "Documents and Data" because I noticed that the Documents and Data for Google Translate increases very slighty with every translation (faster if speaking the translation). But this doesn't bother me at all. Why? Becuz the app size is oh so small (2.3 MB) & every translator (all 50+ of them) is included for free (how dope is that?) without having to download any additional memory for each language. So when the time comes to delete and redownload it due to memory capacity shortage, it still requires only 2 MB to redownload it. I bet that won't harm my device at all. Hey, I can live with that!
Thanks for your support for my question, Deggie, kudos!!!

  • REMOVE Documents and Data... HOW!?

    No, seriously... HOW.
I have tried every **** thing I could find via a google search, and I've read countless threads with countless "well, it worked for me" stories. Nothing is fixing it. I have done everything except a master reset. I have gone to icloud.com and reset D&D, I have done it through my Mac system preferences, I have managed icloud settings via my iphone, I've erased all texts and emails. Heck I deleted an email account on my phone! Nothing changed. NOTHING.
I still have 2.7GB being taken up by D&D. My iPhone4 is only 16GB, and the majority of my space (~8 or 9GB) goes to music. According to my icloud usage, I have 5GB of 5GB. I've turned off icloud and deleted the account off my phone, and deleted apps where I could. It's gotten really frustrating that I can't take a photo or update my phone with out deleting photos or music first, (I know, I know... first world problems). I only have about 30 photos on my phone, too. No videos. No voice memos, no voice mails... I just don't want to do a master reset and lose everything since I read somewhere that if you do a backup, it'll just slap the D&D right back on there. It would just be really sweet to get those 2.7GB back, but I feel like it is a lost cause since there is no real answer. I know apple support just posted a how to about a week ago for this, but I tried both methods. I tried restarting my phone. I tried backing it up again. I tried syncing it. Nothing.
Is anyone just as frustrated as I am?! And is there ANYONE that has a solid answer?

Documents & Data contains... well, documents and data that are being stored/used by the apps on your phone. The only way to get rid of it is to delete the documents/data from the apps that are storing it there or delete the apps that are doing so entirely.
If you go to Settings>General>Usage, you can see exactly how much space each app on your phone is using. If you tap on the individual app you will see details of how much each is using in documents & data.

  • How to delete documents and data off of iphone 4s

Im trying to free up some room on my phone. I got rid of some apps and movies and did what i can but when i plug my phone in there is more Documents & data then i have as apps and music. i just want to get ride of some documents that are saved in my phone but  dont now hot to delete them.

Document & Data on iPhone is junks files including browser history, cookies, logs, caches of photos and videos, database files stored by your apps. You’ll notice that some apps while being very small themselves have accumulated a lot of data. An example of this is shown in the image below, you see that the Facebook app is 109 MB whereas the Documents & Data stored is 1.2 GB. This 1.2 GB is what goes into your “Other” data.
These apps on iPhone don’t provide a way to delete Documents and Data, uninstalling and reinstalling the app is not the best option here. With the help of CleanMyPhone or PhoneClean you can delete the documents and data on iPhone without deleting the app itself.

  • How can i disconnect and delete documents and data from my phone?

Documents and Data from my computer are eating up the storage on my phone. I only have 400 pictures and its saying my storage is full and my phone won't back up to iCloud because my storage is too full but have almost no apps on my phone.

I turned off "documents and data" from my iCloud settings on
my iPhone. How do I turn it back on?

If you're running iOS 8, it's on by default and you don't have the option to turn it off.  You can confirm that it's on by checking Settings>iCloud>Storage>Manage Storage and make sure you see your apps are listed under the Documents & Data setting.  (It will only list apps that sync documents & data with iCloud.)

  • Document and data deleted by mistake

I accidentally deleted my Goodnotes files from setting→icloud→document and data, and found that all the notes stored in the Goodnotes application have also been deleted. These notes are very important for my work, could anyone tell me how can I restore my notes? I use a ipad air and windows 7 pc. Thank you very much for your help.

The only way to get those documents back is to restore your iPad from a backup, either from iTunes on your computer or from iCloud:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
or if you saved the documents to your computer, copying them back through iTunes. If you did not have a backup and did not transfer the documents to your computer, then unless they are somewhere else such as in Dropbox, they're gone.
    Regards.

  • Document and data on ipad

iMac has document and data.Where is it on iPad?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Documents & Data storesz your iWork documents, you'll find them in Pages, numbers or Keynote. Several other apps also use documents & data, if you use any of these apps, you'll find that data when you open those apps.
To see exactly what is using documents and data, look at system preferences > iCloud > manage.
