Where are my iCloud photos going, and where can I see them?

I recently upgraded my PC to one that can use iCloud, and I want to sync all of my photos. I wirry that I am losing photos, and I don't know how to view them in the cloud.

When you enable photo stream on your Mac, in imports photos currently in your photo stream. However, photo stream only keeps photos for 30 days, even though up to 1000 photos will remain on your device until you delete them. When you enable photo stream on your Mac, you will only receive photos added in the last 30 days, as the others are no longer in your photo stream.
If you want to get all your old photos on your Mac, save them to your camera roll (if they aren't already there) by opening your photo stream album, tapping Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll. Once they are in your camera roll, import them to your Mac as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Another option would be to create a shared photo stream containing the older photos and invite yourself (as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99). Then check Shared Photo Streams in iPhoto>Preferences>Photo Stream and you will see this shared photo stream on your Mac.

You cannot use iCloud Storage to suppliment your iPad. They are mainly used to backup iPad.
Free up space on iPad
Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Delete what is not needed to free up space on iPad.

Apps are disappearing off my iPhone and I can't get them back.

Hi, apps are disappearing off my iPhone and I can't get them back. Spotify, Shazam, BBC iPlayer and the Maps app have just gone. I have tried to redownload them from the App Store but there isn't the option, cant get them back with iTunes either. Help!

I wish it was as simple as that. I have tried to redownload them but they are marked as installed.
I have even gone into iTunes and in the app tab untucked the disappeared apps, synced, then reticked the apps. This is where the strangest thing happens, the app appears on my iPhone, the progress bar goes from zero to the top, then, when the app should be installed, it disappears.
So far Spotify, BBC iPlayer, the Maps app, iFooty, and probably some apps I'm not aware of are affected.
Interestingly, the apps have also gone from my wife's iPhone which is on the same Apple I'd, but they haven't gone from my iPad which is also on the same Apple I'd.

How do I get rid of "Open All In Tabs" from the Bookmarks dropdown menu? [STUPIDITY] Also, my bookmarks run off the bottom of the screen and I can't see them all.

The bottom of my bookmarks in one subcategory extends beyond the screen on my TV and I can't see them all. I can't see where any arrow to extend the bookmarks to the bottom of the list is so I've been clicking below the last visible bookmark in that list and I hit that STUPID "Open All In Tabs" crap (then everything locks up). WHO IN THE WORLD WOULD WANT TO OPEN ALL OF THEIR BOOKMARKS AT ONCE???? Seems really, really stupid to me. And why won't the bookmarks drop down list allow me to see all of the bookmarks I've saved on that topic? It does not automatically scroll down as large lists on other drop down menus routinely do.

Click on the Hot Corners.. button and look at the four definitions. In the picture below, if you moved the cursor to the right top of the screen, it would slide all the applications off the screen as you describe and show the desktop. Set it to "-" to deactivate.

Uploaded photos to icloud photo library, now how can I remove them from iphone

I have finally uploaded all my photos to icloud photo library, however it has still kept them all on phone - granted they are smaller versions and I have some more space but still want to remove most to make more space - but be safe in the knowledge that they are backup to icloud - a bit like how drop box works. Can anyone tell me how I do this - do I just delete them from iphone, or will that delete from icloud too?
It all seems unnecessarily confusing this icloud photo business.

if you really want to be safe and be for sure that your pictures are saved.
Then import them to your computer Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support then you can delete it off your phone.

I currently have an iPhone 5, 16gb. I Do Not want to Loose any photos or albums by deleting them from my phone and not backing them up correctly. My iCloud backup is only storing my "Photo Stream" and I can not locate them in iTunes after I sync/Back up.

(Even after endlessly reading through support and help topics as well as calling) My concern is about Not Losing any of my photos if I delete them from my phone. I have to delete a large portion of my camera roll as well as the Album Folders I have created. Although it would be great if there was a way to just keep my albums still. I have already backed them up to an external hard-drive, my computer and a geek stick. I'm not trying to be too paranoid about these photos, but, they are all of my 3 children. There are over 4000 pictures stored on my phone. Some photos go back as far as 2009. Can you offer any information about backing up my Camera Roll, not just "Photo Stream", and albums I've created On my phone? I read that it's good to back photos up on both iTunes as well as icloud. I even purchased extra icloud storage to back them all up. I do regularly back up/sync, my phone to my computers. However, I cannot even locate where they are stored on iTunes, let alone look at them. And as far as my iCloud backup, it only stores the new pictures from "Photo Stream". Please offer any advice you may have. I do not use up a lot of storage on my phone other than Photos and Contacts (it's a work phone). First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

I have created many inbox folders on my laptop in my email. We just noticed that many of my inbox folders are showing up on his iPad in Notes. They look like "major headings" or "categories" for lack of a better term. There are no notes or anything under any of these categories. We've tried to delete these "categories" from his Notes, but can't do it. What's happening, and how can we fix this?

If you are using a PC, log on to iCloud using Safari (rather than Explorer) to reset the photostream. Then turn iPhone/iPad photostream off and back on. I was getting the same server error as you and this advice from another blog worked for my iPhone and iPad. But I still can't get photostream deleted from my apple tv. There does not seem to be a photostream on/off control In Apple tv 4.4 software. I tried switching the screen saver to one of the ones that comes preloaded on the device, then back to photostream but all the old photos are still there. If anyone can help with this, I would appreciate it.

I am scanning printed photos into iPhoto as jpeg files but they are not showing as jpegs and I can't move them to another document - any ideas??

Ultimately, I am using these photos in a document I am writing and for some reason, some of the photos I have scanned in to iPhoto are not showing as jpeg files . . . the file type is blank and when I try to move them, I get a circle with a slash through it indicating NO instead of the green circle with a + indicating that the photo can be moved and dropped elsewhere. I am using an Epson scanner and am scanning as jpeg images. I also have an option to scan as a jpeg2000 image but am not sure of the difference in the files so continue to scan as just jpeg. Does anybody have an idea as to why these particular files are scanning in as jpegs but apparently there is something not registering correctly. Could it be that they were scanned without doing an overview scan first? I know it can't be that simple . . any help would be appreciated.

What scanner format settings dis you use? Are these color photos? If they are B/W did you scan as grayscale images? That could be the problem.
Are you able to open them with Preview? If so do a Save As, select full quality and save as a jpeg with a new file name. See if that file will import and work as intended.

If they really meant that much to you, they would have been copied off to a computer at the earliest possible opportunity.
I personally find it amazing that people get so upset when pictures "accidentally" get deleted and then scream about how important they are. You wouldn't leave important paper work lying around to be lost/damaged/stolen, so why take a chance with important pictures on a device that can so easily be lost/damaged/stolen, or deleted by a child.

If you go to the Photos app, is there content in the Photo Library? These would be pictures that are synced to the phone from the computer. Photos in the camera roll are those that you take with the phone, or save from email, MMS on the phone. What type of pictures are you trying to get rid of? If you are trying to get rid of the synced photos, you need to connect to iTunes, select the iPhone in the device pane, then go to the Photo tab in iTunes and remove the check mark by sync.

Why won't the copying action stop? How do i quit it so i can shut down? Items i tried to copy to either my hard drive or my USB memory are not copying - why? And now can't quit them either!

I have a Western Digital My Book hard drive which i use to store my media/data/back up. I tried to transfer some files on my desk top to it yestrday and it was taking forever so decided to stop it. Now it just shows under the Copying box, stopping but it isn't? I tried then to down load the same images t my USB memory stick and now that is doing the same. option discovered in preferences. Really this and any feature that moves deletes or edits a users data should as far as possible be OFF BY DEFAULT. It shouldn't by default and without the users specific say do this dangerous and unnecessary thing without even letting the user know what it's doing!!! And then cause me a few hours (as i'm new to mac) searching for the option so as to switch it off. If i hadn't noticed the status cage declaring that it was copying files then i might never have twigged that this insane thing was occurring. And if i hadn't of noticed i would have been left maintaining the contents of the folder i copied the files to, the folder which as far as i was informed and so believed was also the location of the music files i was playing. How does Apple justify this 'genius' piece of software non-design? Surely it will hurt no one if this was off by default for new users - overall at least i dare say it would cause a lot less distress in the future for the unsuspecting public at large. Make sure you have iPhoto's Photo Stream preferences set as follows:
What happens when you drag photos from the Photo Stream window in iPhoto onto the Events icon in the left hand pane? That should import the photos into the library.
If it doesn't thenTry the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto, reset its various preferences and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

I see photos in iPhoto, but can't see them in my iPhoto listings when I try to upload to Blogger.

I click the Photo icon in Blogger, click Choose Photos, select the Photos in my left navigation, then scroll through iPhoto in the right side of the pane. None of my recently uploaded photos are available to select and add. My settings in iPhoto for sharing indicate that the whole iPhoto library is shared and not password protected.
I don't know how to check where my files are being saved, so I can't answer that outright.

That's my problem, on every other computer I upload to, this option works. I use the same procedure on this laptop and none of my new uploads appear when I select Media, photos, iPhoto. The new content is unavailable for selection to upload.
