Where are my libraries and projects ? update of Maverick in cause ??...

Tonight all I have is problems with Final Cut Pro X... I read many similar things in the last few hours, and start to wonder if this could be the last OS X update in cause ??... Everything was fine 3 days ago...
- As per my other post (few minutes ago) : unable to share to master file or any other format. Compressor fail as well..
- Now, trying to solve problem, I lost view of all my projects. Last project I was almost over with : all I se now is just the audio track !!... (Ok this one could be just something I touched... how should I get the entire project back ??...)à
- I've rebooted the Macbook Pro, re-opened FCP, then now it looks freezed for last 15 minutes trying to ''load events'', with a progress bar greyed out.
I just hop eI have not lost all my projects...
FCP is a nightmare tonight...

Need more information to begin to help.
What version of FCP X do you have installed? Did you recently update from an earlier version?
Are your projects and media on your boot drive?

Its on the keyboard somewhere on top center close to the number keys. To be straight, its just below F12 key.

After updating my iPad to iOS 8 all my files in Pages and Numbers are gone!!! Where are they and how do I get them back?

If you didn't configure Windows Phone backup option or use VZW Backup Assistant then all is lost.
If you did go with Windows Phone native backup and you use an Outlook account you should find your photos and videos on OneDrive. I'm not sure how much VZW Backup Assistant backs up but you would need to start a restore from that software and see what's preserved.
With any OS installs/updates a backup is always best to first.

Deploying libraries and projects...

Hello All
We have problem trying to make a distribution on a compiled library.
The application that we had consist of many projects. We separate the
service objects and the objects in different projects, because we need to
reference a service object from another and develop a three tier application
so we had to divide like this form :
Project Service Object 1
Project Object 1
Project Service Object 2
Project Object2
where Object1 makes a call to Service Object 2.
The problem is that we want to deliver the application and compile the
project that contains objects in order to don´t give the source code, so
someone told us that we have to separate the service objects from objects in
order to compile the projects that contain the objects as libraries and let
the services objects in another projects without compile.
So the previous schema finally seems like this :
Project Service Object 1
Library Object 1
Project Service Object 2
Library Object 2
To compile this, the manual told to compile in order so We start with :
Project Object 2 -> Configure As Library -> check compile -> generate
.lgf -> run fcompile and get .dll. (OK)
Project Object 1 -> Configure As Library -> check compile -> generate
.lgf -> run fcompile (ERROR)
the error
said that there was not .lib.
That was
strange because generating Object2
fcompile
generates .bom, .lib and finally .dll. (??)
Please if someone out there know something please told us....
Probably a library can´t have a supplier project with service object in
it...

Thanks for the answer. I couldn't follow how the custom Manifest file will help in our case. Could you please provide some more details?
My problem is I don't know in which order I need to compile the projects. I can do this manually but I am looking for a solution that will do this automatically.
As the project grows it will be too hard to decide the order manually.

Where are the "Install and Keep Package" Downloads?

I just did a clean install of 10.5.
As I wanted to save all the download Apple 10.5 updates to install other macs, I asked Software Update to "Install and Keep Package".
It downloaded them and installed them, BUT I cant find them on my HD?
Where are they?

Same problem here with Install and Save from the Updater.
I do have a permission issue which is suppose to be solved by installing twice the Update OS X 10.5.8 Combo (?). I don't have speed connection and it took me 26 hours to load this update ...and now I can't find it.

Where are the home and end buttons

so i'm new to mac and purchased a mac book pro and that's when it hit me, where are the Insert, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down keys? Where are the arrow keys. I'm not much of a track pad user and although I think it is awesome I like to keep my hands on the keyboard as much as possible.
Also, is it me or does the Delete key on a Mac move in the wrong direction (from right to left instead of left to right)?

The answer is the Fn key...
Held down in addition to the Left arrow is Home, with the Right arrow key is End, with the Up arrow key is PgUp, with the Down arrow key is PgDn, and with to the Delete key is Forward Delete.
You might find it helpful to enable the Keyboard Viewer in Hardware, Keyboard, Show Keyboard viewer in menu bar. On OS X 10.6 it displays a flag for your selected country. (Not sure about OS X Lion 10.7 though.) When enabled, click on the flag and select Show Keyboard Viewer. As you press Shift, Fn, Ctrl, Alt/Option, and Command you will see onscreen what keystrokes result, separately and in combination.

in iphoto to move from the top of your events to the bottom or vice versa the shortcut says to either use the" home key"or the "end key" my question is where are they?

When I have "All Events" displayed in iPhoto 9.2.1 (the latest version), neither of the preceding two suggestions takes me instantly to the beginning or the end of the displayed event grid. What does the trick for me is Fn + left arrow and Fn + right arrow. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8, in case that makes any difference.

Where are my junk and outgoing mailboxes?

I use mail 2.0.2 on my laptop. At work we use an older version and there is a mailbox for junk and outgoing messages. I can't get any other mailboxes to appear in my mailbox column except for in, sent and trash. I can creat a new folder and title it "junk" but that isn't half as cool as having the junk mailbox with the junk logo.

Apple provides updates to the OS and to Apple software to correct discovered bugs, etc. and for enhancements and also provides OS security updates from time to time which is why you should install available updates IMO.
The updates do not use more memory or RAM but may take up additional hard drive space which is minor.
Check Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption for system troubleshooting procedures.
Before installing a major OS Update such as 10.4.3, I always use the first of three system troubleshooting procedures provided - running Disk First Aid repair when boooted from the Tiger install disc to check the hard drive for any directory problems. I've done so before installing every major OS Update provided for Jaguar, Panther and now Tiger and I haven't experienced any problems afterwards.
After doing so, you can use Software Update via System Preferences which will check your hard drive and provide the OS and Apple application updates that are available automatically.
When doing so, quit all open/running applications so that no applications are running except for Software Update during the installation.

Where are my Calendars and my Notes??

I have just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and am checking through everything. Most things appear ok (even if Mail is rather different....) However two vital things I need appear incorrect:
1. I run several calendars and manage my whole work via them - I see clients for two practices and manage them via my calendars plus everything else. It appears that my work calendars and a few others have disappeared (including all my booked clients for tomorrow!!!) and it even appears to have picked up a recurring calendar item that I deleted 12 months ago..... Really hoping this will be quick and easy to fix!
2. I have been using Notes within Mail for everything - I no longer use a pen and paper. It's great that Notes have been moved out to be on their own but where are all my notes with details of all sorts of vital things?
Hoping you can provide some urgent suggestions as it is 10:49 pm here, so Apple Support is not available till 9:00am tomorrow and I need to know a few things before then (like, what clients do I have when, and what is the Case Number of the Apple Support call I made this morning about this install?)

There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files (purchases and songs from CD etc) and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

Where are my folders and collections?

I had many photos and collections created in lightroom - now I only get some. They are in my storage - but for some reason they do not show up in the library - where are they and what causes this?

Thanks, I stumbled onto the solution by opening an earlier catalog I had saved (or backed up). Not sure how I ever "opened" the erroneous catalog - or how I was able to open the correct one - but I did.

Where are the Brightness and Levels controls?

It's so simple, but it's late at night (early hours of the morning actually) and I'm stuck!
The most basic of controls . . . . Brightness, Contrast, Levels etc. I just cannot find.
Where are they?
Anyway, I'm off to bed.

Looking back to the old FCP, the Brightness filter was pretty appalling as it really upset the contrast etc. and it required complex fiddling with the other controls to get a semblance of balance back.
Then a year or so ago someone made a new free Brightness plugin that not only adjusted the brightness but automatically compensated the contrast controls so everything looked great.
I can't remember the name of the creator or the plugin.
It might be Luca and this, but I can't be sure.

It's a pity that FCP X hasn't got a similar effect.
The following adjustment gave the images a nice lift and kept everything pleasant to view.
Highs +10%, Mids +5% and Shadows +3%

Ok first of aqll. Where are the admins? I have seen none of their posts anywhere. They dont' seem to care or moderate the board.

This is an interesting thread and I thank you and the other more experienced folk for your participation. There is a few similar recent explanatory type threads which are also useful.
However, the above partial reply does concern me a bit. And yes, I do realise that you personally are in no way responsible for or accountable for the actions or non-actions of the mods or for Apple policy. And that you are just helpfully recounting what appears to be the Discussions policy and practices.
Several months ago a reply I made to a thread was deleted, presumably by a mod but what instigated that action I do not know or do I know who reported my apparent posting crime.
To quote from : Apple Discussions Use Agreement

If you fail to abide by these terms Apple will send an e-mail that informs you that your Submission has been deleted or edited."
I did not receive any email from Apple explaning the reason for my submission deletion.

Now, of course I am in no position to require the mods to account for their actions and I accept that these Discussions are wholly owned and operated by Apple, but Apple does [or I hope so] realise the value of the discussions and the goodwill they create and enhance.
But what is the point of having a set of rules, availble for all to see, which are in effect a two-way agreement, if Apple chooses to ignore them while expecting users to abide by them. I would have liked the opportunity to explain the import of my submission. But having it peremptorily deleted without explanation is just not fair.
But then, I expect someone will take offence at this post and it will be deleted.
