Where are my mail attachments?

Imac 10.4.7 mail does not show attachments; however, spotlight preview shows the attachments are with the email.

Check Mail>Preferences>General for where Downloads are saved, mine are at...
Users/MyUserName/Library/Mail Downloads

  • Where are the mail files on EIM 9.0.2

We just upgraded to 9.0.2 I need to know where the mail files reside in CIM before they are pushed to the agent. we have a Web server, app server and data server,
    thanks!

    Keith,
All EIM email details are kept in the EIM database, not in discrete files on the drive. Email attachments will be in a directory similar to this:
    {EIM install dir}\eService\storage\1\mail\attachments
I don't have separate EIM servers to check, but I would guess that this would be on your data server. If you look around the "storage" directory, there are similar areas for KB and Customer attachments.

  • Where are all Mail Pref files ?

    Hello,
my hd crash last week, i bought e new one and install a new OS.
Today my apple reseller succeded in recovering all my files of my old disk.
Now i would like to copy all Mail Pref files into the right place so i can recover my Mail like one week ago. I know that somes of the files are in Users>Me>Library>Mail but it's not enought my accounts are not set up !
I've also .emlx files in .mbox folders that i want to add to my Mail software, but i didn't succeed
Somebody can guide me in the dark area of Mail
    Thx a lot

    Hello Anterak.
The other participants have already answered the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist part.
I've also .emlx files in .mbox folders that i want
to add to my Mail software, but i didn't succeed
Could you please be more precise about this? You should be able to import these into Mail by doing File > Import Mailboxes, choosing Mail for Mac OS X, and following the instructions. Note that Mail wants you to select the folder that contains the *.mbox folders, rather than the *.mbox folders themselves.

  • Where are the mail downloads in Lion?

I sent some photos from my Iphone to my Mail (lion). I do not have the newest iPhoto for Photo-stream (because Ido not want all my photos on my iPhone - but I'd like only to send 1 way > iPhoto)  But I don't know where the downloaded photos are. If I put them in iPhoto and then trash the email with the photo, won't iPhoto say it cannot locate the original? The was the case in previous OSX SL and before, so I always went to the download folder and moved it to another folder. If I want to store that photo in another file I would, but I don't know where the damm photo is originally. HELP!

Mail Download folder is in HardDrive > Users > *Your Name* > Library.
The folder will be invisable by default, so Finder -> Go to  and hold down Option key would show "Library" in the list. Click on it would bring you to the hidden folder.
If you want to access it regularly then either drag it to the left menu bar or take this advice from Kappy, as I did
If you wish to have it displayed do this:
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities and enter or paste the following at the prompt:
    sudo chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press RETURN. Enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed.
(Copy Paste that command. Don't try to type it)
    Good Luck

  • Where are Mac Mail mailboxes located?

Hi.  I keep software on the internal hard drive of my Mac, but I keep on personal content (iPhoto photos, iMovie projects, iTunes songs and video, etc) on an external drive.  I want to do the same thing with the email content that is stored on my Mac.  For the Mail mailboxes on my Mac, where is actual physical email content stored?  Is there a way to move this and future email content to my external drive, and have the Mail app find it there?  Thx

These instructions are for Lion only. Back up all data first and be prepared to restore if anything goes wrong.
Select  ▹ System Preferences ▹ Users & Groups. Click the lock icon and authenticate. Right-click or control-click your name in the account list and select Advanced options... from the contextual menu. In the sheet that opens, change your home directory to where you want it to be. Save your changes, log out, and log back in.

  • Why are my mail attachments embedding in the mail doc. rather than showing up as an attachment

after upgrading to Lion 10.7.2. It seems my mail document attachments are embedding in the email, rather than showing up as an attachment. How do I resolve this?

There's been a lot of discussion on this.  Some indicate that setting your email format to plain text will result in the photos being just attachments.  When I've tested it by sending to myself that's not been the case.
There's a 3rd party plugin for Mail that is supposed to do what you want.  I've not tested it so can't comment one way or another:
One way to assure the image files travel as attachments is to put them in a folder first and add the folder to the email body. That zips/compresses the folder and sends it that way.

  • Where are iCal, Mail, Address Book, etc. files????

If we reinstall the OS because of major problems, but the drive files are backed up, can we retrieve Mail, Address Book, iCal, etc. files? Our office assistant is tearing her hair out having to re-do everything. Supposedly it's backed up, but she can't find it...or how to RECOVER her missing data.
    HELP!

It was "solved" by someone else, who just dragged the files over. We've had nothing but trouble with the machine ever since. I will repost updating with the new problems....

  • Where are the Mail files located?

Can some one guide me to the location of the mail boxes, files on my hard drive so that I can back them up.
I could do this with outlook, entourage but unable to find those files with Mail.app.
    MacBook 10.5.1

The Mail data are located in the /Home/Library/Mail/ folder. Preference files are located in /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.
You can archive mailboxes by selecting the Archive Mailbox option from Mail's Mailbox menu.
If you do incremental backups of your hard drive with backup software, then there's no need to created separate backups of the mailboxes.

  • Where are apple mail attachment files stored in OS 10.9

I am trying to locate an attachment file from a recently deleted message.  The message is no longer in my trash, so I can't access the file through Mail.  In the past, there was usually an archived copy somewhere on my hard drive, but it seems to have moved in my most recent update of Mac OSX.  It used to be in the Library folder in my user folder, but now there is no Library folder in that location.  Where do I find these files?

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Check the Mail folder/V2.

  • Where are my mails?

    two problems:
    1. apple mail doesn't catch all mails from imap-server. when i open the webmail-application of my provider there are a lot of mails, but when i use apple mail there are only a few. if i reopen the webmail-interface now, all the other mails has gone. of course 90% of the lost mails are spam - but i'd like to read the other 10%. why does apple mail delete this mails without giving me the chance to read them? and there is no chance to get them back...
    2. the second problem sounds similar. it happend even four or five times with several mail-accounts. sometimes the software deletes some or all mails in the inbox. in this case i had the chance to read them and they were deleted after some days.
in both cases the mails are not in the trash - they are away...
    thank you for your help.
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   imap-accounts

Who is the provider of this account?
Provider for my first problem is all-inkl.com (Germany), the second problem i have with all-inkl.com and the imap-server of a university.
Do you have any custom rules in Mail? Have you
    customized the junk filter?
Junk filter is on "learn". My rules in Mail, just move Mails - with success! But they don't delete them.
Do you access this account from more than one
computer? Could it be that you’ve set it up as POP in
    any of them?
No. I just use one Computer and sometimes the webmail-interface.

  • Where are my email attachments?

I Have an IPad Air. When I receive emails with attachments via my AOL email account I can see , in the new mail list on the left of the screen, that there is an attachment ( the paper clip is there) but when I open the email there is no attachment to be found anywhere. I have rebooted my Ipad Air a few times and I have forwarded the email to different accounts but I  still can't detect the attachments on my iPad.
I can always detect and open these attachments on my laptop (Dell) but it is a real faff to have to open the laptop up and get it going.
This issue has come up on a number of threads- I have done everything recommended but still no luck. HELP!!!

  • Where are the mails ?

I want to import my mailbox from another mac PC. I have restored all the files of my first mac with time machine in the second mac, also the mails file (.mbox). I used the function "Import a mail box". It seems to be OK but I can't read my mails. the box is created, the number of mails is mentionned but the screen is empty and white !
Could you give me the reason and help me, please?

    it works on my GMail.
what is the language of your IMAP server ?
what is the exact name of your "sent items folder" when using the webmail ?
what is the name of the same folder on your Z10 ?
chances are, the two folders have a different name.
please make sure that you have configured your Z10 to synchronize emails from all servers.

  • Where are my mail folders?

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion and lost my mail folder where I would move mail after reading. I think it was a SmartFolder. Also, open to anyone who has suggestions to archiving mail. On Outlook (on my work machine), i simply have a year and month folder in an off-line PST folder.
    thanks,
    mjh

I'm unclear on exactly what happened, but note that a Smart Mailbox is not an actual storage location, it's just a saved search. If you had a Smart Mailbox that you thought was an archival storage location, and you deleted the messages from other mailboxes, then they would have disappeared from the Smart Mailbox as well.
Of course, if the Smart Mailbox has disappeared, something's wrong. The upgrade to Mountain Lion would require some updates to your mailboxes, and if they were corrupt to start with, something easily could have gone wrong in that update process. Do you have any kind of backups from before the upgrade?
As for archiving messages, just create one or more mailboxes in the location where you want the archives stored (probably "On my Mac") and move the messages there. I have every message I sent or received since the beginning of 2005 in a series of "On my Mac" mailboxes.
