I'm running windows XP and seem to have found a partial solution that does not involve vague half assed directions =P
Open iTunes, go to file, import, and select the latest "Temp" file, I got most of my playlists and songs back that way.
Edit: This file is in the \My Documents\My Music\iTunes folder

If they don't show in there then are they hidden by a film age rating in Settings > General > Restrictions ?

  • Where are the PLAYLIST and EQ preferences for iTunes located?

Somehow I lost my iTunes Playlist when I moved the audio files to another hard drive on the same computer. Does anyone know where the PLAYLIST and EQ preferences for iTunes located on a Mac? Also can I make a copy or backup of those preferences? Thanks!

There are no Playlist Preferences - playlists are saved into the iTunes Library database file (what we call "the Library" in these forums).
There is however a com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist file - it's in the ~user/Library/Preferences folder. Individual EQs for your tracks are stored in the iTunes Library file.

  • Where did my playlists go iTunes 12

I did  the restore to factory settings using all the steps to get my 5th generation iPod to work again. It is restored and fully charged. Now have loaded all my music back onto my iPod but all my playlists are missing. All I get is Genius, and On the Go. My iTunes is up to date with iTunes 12. This lists my different playlists on my computer. In iTunes, my iPod doesn't list any playlists.
I thought sync was to sync music to various playlists. Is this not so now?

It depends on how our iPod was set up before you restored it.  If you were using the Manually manage music and videos setting, iTunes was not keeping your iPod's content "in sync" with your iTunes library.  In that case, you manually added playlists to the iPod and manually added songs to those playlists.  So, after doing a Restore (which erases the iPod), those playlists will not be there anymore.  You'll need to redo it manually.
If you used automatic syncing, that means all of the playlists that were on the iPod (before the Restore) are also in your iTunes library (on the computer).  Hopefully, this is your case, because you can easily add those playlists back onto your iPod by setting up automatic syncing again.  In iTunes 12, select your iPod from the device button.  In the iPod's sidebar, under Settings, select Music.  The screen to the right tells iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.  Check the box for Sync Music (which enables automatic syncing).  NOTE:  If the iPod is currently using the manual setting, setting up automatic syncing will replace its current content.  Any songs on the iPod that are not in your computer's iTunes library will be lost.
If your entire iTunes music library fits on your iPod, you can use the option to sync Entire music library.  All songs and playlists in your iTunes library are synced to the iPod, when you click Apply.  Any changes to your iTunes music library get synced to the iPod going forward.
Otherwise, select the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, under Playlists, select (checkmark) the playlists you want on the iPod.  You can also select from the other lists, as desired.  When you click Apply, iTunes syncs your selection to the iPod.  Going forward, to add or remove songs from the iPod, just update those selected playlists in your iTunes library.  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

  • Where are my downloads? iTunes unavailable?

I bought 40 songs in iTunes, however, I couldn't download the songs (well, i got the invoice, yes, but where are my songs?) I get the error message "Unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later". I have tried now for a few days. Any idea how to proceed? Thanks

  • Why are my playlists on itunes and iphone in a different order?

In itunes I have a playlist title "000" to keep it at the top of my playlists. It's where I dump new stuff I want to listen to.  However, on my iphone, that list shows up at the bottom. ***? I was hoping this would be addressed in iOS 6 but it was not.  Seems like such a strange inconsistency for Apple.  Anyone know how to fix this (other than naming it "AAA" or something like that)?

I found the answer ... You have to go to the upper most left column (above the numbers) and click to place an arrow there. That was the only playlist I didn't have an arrow showing. Once I did this, I could once again move the songs in the order I wanted.
    Yes!!! :^)

  • Ipod library and playlist disappeared? I got  the music back; but where are the playlists; how can i get those back?

Today when i opened my itunes; it didn't have my music library or playlists. I have no idea what happened. I was able to drag the music over to the library, but I want to restore my playlists. How can i do that?

Are the photos you want to send back to your mac on your iPad, iPod, iPhone saved to the camera roll? If you have photos in other albums (not camera roll) share them to the camera roll.
Then connect your device via USB and lauch iPhoto. You will see your device as a camera in iPhoto.  Import those photos like you would import from a camera.

  • Deleted playlists from my iphone 6, but songs are still there and are on my pc.  Where are my playlists?

After adding itunes match, some of my playlists are disappearing from my iphone 6.  The songs are still in the phone, and the playlist is still on my PC.  Why are they being deleted?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Crashed hard drive: Where are my playlists?

I restored my crashed hard drive from Mozy.  Now, I am reinstalling software onto the new drive.  iTunes sees my music, but my playlists have not come back. What file(s) am I missing?

    iTunes Library.itl
If you have imported your media into a new library you've not restored the original properly. If you had restored the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's Music folder into you current profile's Music folder then that would normally have done the trick. Presumably if you had a non-standard layout you would also be familiar with how it all works so odds are that is all you need to do.

  • TS1476 where are songs purchased from itunes stored?

I purchsed a few songs from itunes on my phone, after updating my phone, the songs are no longer there. Where can I find purchased songs?

If you are in a country where you can re-download music and they are still in the store then they should appear in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app for re-downloading : re-downloading items.

  • Where are my playlist?

About a month ago, I hooked up my iPad to my MacBook Pro to sync. As expected, iTunes recognized there was things on the iPad that were not in my iTunes, and asked me if I wanted to import them. I clicked yes, but, instead of just importing files from my iPad into iTunes, it removed EVERYTHING I already had in iTunes, and replaced it only with what I had on my iPad.
I was able to most of it back, but I notice my playlists are "missing". I say "missing" because they no longer appear under "Playlists" but, if I select a song or album, and want to either create a new playlist for it, or add it to a newer one I already created, I notice all my "missing" playlists are there.
Any way I can get them back?
    Thanks!

Correct, not all of my playlists are under the Playlist tab in iTunes. However, say if I go under Artist or Song, and decide to move a song into a playlist, I'll highlight the song,  right click, select "Add To Playlist", and it will show all my old playlist, listed under my iPod Touch.

  • Where are my shownotes in iTunes

For some reason my shohwnotes of my own podcast don´t show up in iTunes library - or on iPods. I know they are there - they come up on the subsciption page.
Strangely enough it has happened before, that my shownotes were gone - they showed up again, but suddenly they are gone again.
    This is my feed
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=161360198

I know about the feeds - The shownotes appear everywhere else - also in Feedburner
AND if you go to the page for my podcast in iTunes-store
    Try and go to
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=161360198
But if you subscribe and you download, you´ll see, that there are no shownotes in your library.
My podcast is the only podcast I subscribe to which has this problem.
And strangely enough - the shownotes have suddenly appeared briefly, but after some time - gone again - and I hadn´t changed anything about the feed.

  • Why are certain playlists in itunes being deleted when i update itunes?

Can these playlists be restored from a back-up?

I use master page elements all the time and my contents pages do have a text frame on the Master page, so perhaps it is such a master page element. I'm used to working with master page elements that you need to Ctrl-click on so you can edit the content - for my page titles for instance - and smart text reflow is on (Add to end of story).
When I click on the overset text icon on the text frame I am in text mode (t) but I use Ctrl to click the overset text, which gives me the reflow icon. It's only the first supplementary page I have to create, thereafter iD creates all the remaining pages (there are 14 pages of contents in one of the books, the main one I'm experimenting on).

  • Where are my apps in iTunes?

This week, I upgraded to a 3GS, then downgraded to a 3G again when my purchase revealed that the problem with the 3G was a trivial software setting issue, not a hardware problem. THe 3G is running fine, and I'm happy to have it back again.
However. I have six screens of iPhone apps on my iPhone, but, when I open iTunes now, I only have the app I bought today. I can't sync the apps, because that'll wipe the apps off my phone and replace them with the single new app.
What do I do? Do I really have to go through my purchase history and redownload the apps one by one?
    Thanks in advance,
    J.

Prevent automatic syncing one time, without changing settings: Open iTunes. Then, as you connect iPhone to your computer, press and hold Command-Option (on a Mac) or Shift-Control (on a PC) until you see iPhone appear in the sidebar.
When your phone appears in iTunes, use the File menu -> Transfer purchases from ...
