Where Are My Safari Extensions?

I use OS X 10.5.8 Leopard and Safari 5.0.6.  Where can I find the Safari Extensions I installed?  How are they used?

Safari > Preferences > Extensions. They're third-party software. You would have to consult the developers' documentation to find out what they do. If you're not sure, you should disable or remove them.

  • Where are the system extensions in Tiger?

In Mac OS 7-9 system extensions and control pannels were easy to find. Where are they in OSX?

    John,
The Preference Pane package files are located in the following folders: Macintosh HD/System/Library/PreferencePanes and Macintosh HD/Library/PreferencePanes
Having specified their location, I would add the caveat that I do not endorse altering the files or moving them to another location.

  • Where are my file extensions?

    Hi All,
I have two iPhoto libraries (one in the default package and one in a new package), and one of them shows my file extensions and the other does not.
In my default library, all of my pictures are in the library because iPhoto sucked them off my memory cards. In this package, the title field (which is the field shown below the pictures, if you want) has the filename *with extension*.
In my second library, all of the pictures were imported from an existing file structure on my hard drive. In this other package, all of the titles are missing the file extension!
I cannot find any setting that changes the behavior of what goes into the title field, but I would very much like to see file extensions in all of my libraries. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to accomplish this?
Merry Christmas (If that's your persuasions)

  • Where are my Safari bookmarks located in time machine?

I did a clean install of Lion, and want to import only my bookmarks from timemachine.
    Where can I find the bookmarks? I can't find /Library/Safari, or bookmarks.plist.

From the Finder menu bar, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... and enter
    ~/Library/Safari
in the text box that opens. A Finder window will open. Enter Time Machine and restore the file named "Bookmarks.plist" in that window.

  • I've updated to Safari 5; where are my Extensions?

I recently upgraded to Safari 5, and hoped to use it's new ability to use Extensions. I opened Safari/Preferences/Advanced to access the panel for enabling Extensions; however, I could not find Extensions bar. No tab or button to do it.
Where are the promised Extensions? I am otherwise up to date on my system.

    HI,
    Your preferences may be corrupted.
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.

  • My Safari Extensions preference page is blank. How do I resolve it? (Safari 5.1.2 on Lion 10.7.2)

I found my extensions window blank back when I used Snow Leopard. I thought Lion and new updates will eventually solve it. But it is still there. I tried everything I can. I tried downloading Safari 5.1.2 and reinstalling it. It didn't work. Then I uninstaled safari using CleanMyMac and then tried installing it from scratch. It didn't work. When I googled I found that deleting some plist file resolves the problem on some older version of Safari. But I cannot locate that plist file on Lion. How can I get back my extensions preference page?

    Delete the following items:
    /Library/Application Support/SIMBL
    /Library/LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
    /Library/ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in.
Make sure you never reinstall SIMBL, as it’s one of the worst articles of crapware on the Mac platform. It’s likely to come bundled with some other modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

  • SAFARI EXTENSIONS dus not work.

I have installed a vieuw safari exstensions but if i want to delete them then i have to go Safari -> preferences -> exstensions. But everything in preferences works accept the extensions menu. What can i do now?. Please help me.
Last but not least iam dutch so my English is not verry good.

    Uninstall SIMBL as follows.
Select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar, then enter the following text in the box that opens:
    /Library
A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below (some may be absent.) You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
    Application Support/SIMBL
    InputManagers/SIMBL.bundle
    LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
    ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in.

  • Where can you find Safari Extensions?

I use OS X 10.9 Mavericks.  If I install Safari Shopping Extension or anything from the Apple Safari Extensions Gallery, where would I find those extensions?

If the switch shown at Safari - Preferences - Extensions is On then you should be able to see any installed & check/uncheck a box to Enable them individually. New extensions are installed by downloading & opening - Safari should then ask if you want to install & add it to the list if you agree.

  • Where are my extensions in DW8?

Where are my extensions in DW8? I'd like my desktop
extensions to be in sync with my notebook. I can't find them
    physically in my DW8 installation.
Is it as simple as copying extensions from one directory on
one box to the same directory on the other box, or do I have to
    install extensions twice?

    > or do I have to install extensions twice?
It's safer than a manual installation. Some extensions can
    create additionnal
files/menus that you don't see, can write in menus.xml,
    insertbat.xml, etc.

  • Where are passwords stored for Safari websites

I thought the place was the Keychain, but where else is are passwords stored?
I have jsut done a complete reset of the keychain from keychain Access, and the passwords page shows empty
Yet when I go to certain websites, I still get logged in automatically.
So where are these other passwords stored?

    HI,
The usernames and passwords are stored in the Keychain Access application but only if you have the Safari Preferences set up to do so.
With Safari open, from the Menu Bar, click Safari / Preferences and select the AutoFill tab.
Make sure Usernames and Passwords is selected.
    From the Finder Help Viewer...
When you set up a user account in Mac OS X using the Accounts preferences pane, a keychain with the same password is automatically created the first time you log in to the computer. This keychain is the default keychain. When you create passwords for servers or applications, the passwords are added to this keychain.
You may want to create an additional keychain for personal use that isn’t automatically unlocked when you log in to your user account. For example, you can create a “top secret” keychain to store notes, financial information, and any other items you want to store securely.
    To create a keychain:
Open Keychain Access, located in the Utilites folder in the Applications folder.
    Open Keychain Access
    Choose File > New Keychain.
Type a name for the keychain, and then click Create.
Type a password for the keychain, and then type it again in the Verify field.
For help choosing a good password, click the key button to the right of the Password field.

  • Where are my extensions?

Running Dw CS4 on a mac (10.4.11) and I installed several extension from various creators using the extensions manager. Then I quit that and launched Dw. I created blank html page to insert and experiment with some of the new stuff and the extensions aren't showing up in the insert menu. Am I being an idiot? Where are they. I installed YUI and GoogleGadgets and phatfusion and a few others.

Not sure if this helps you or not.  But I usually access my extensions from little icons near the top of the toolbar or using the Command or Insert menus (near the bottom).  In any case, the extension provider should have given you some instructions on how to use their product.

  • Extension SDK : Where are the wizards for extension creation in JDev

I remember seeing there were few wizards in JDev 10.1.3 Preview version for creating extensions which generates the stubs (like create extension with windows etc.), but I don't see it in the new extension SDK. It only contains extension.xml file with basic properties, also it doesn't XML give insight in the extensions.xml.
Why are the wizards missing? Are they left by mistake oir by intension?
I hope having wizards for extension creation (like eclispe) will help people creating extensions. Currently we have to copy paste some extensions provided by Extension SDK and merge our code as and where required.

    Hi,
The Extension Manifest gallery item that's in 10.1.3 production's Extension SDK at least provides a starting point. It will generate extension.xml automatically based on values entered in the creation dialog.
There were a couple of other extension design time features in 10.1.3 preview that were pulled prior to production. This was mainly due to scheduling constraints (a number of other features had higher priority), changes to the extension SDK API between preview and production, and several bugs and design issues with the functionality.
As I mentioned, extension design time support will be expanded in future releases, and is now a priority for us. These improvements are currently targeted for the 11.0 release, but it's not inconceivable that the ESDK for 10.1.3 could be updated with these improvements too if there's enough demand.
    Thanks,
    Brian
