Where are my tags?

I use Photoshop Elements for many years. I am now in possession of version 10. My catalog, with over 33,000 photos, I have given most of the photo's a tags: Family, friends, places, events and so on. Now I have this great collection divided in two smaller catalogs and the great catalog kept. I can, however, not find the tags in the two newly created catalogs, despite the fact that I have tried "keyword tags and property information write to photos..." several times. Also " automatic analysis " brings me no further. I would like the tags, which I have given in the big catalog, also see back in the other catalogs. Is that possible?

Thank you very much. You helped me a lot. Everything is now organized. I can find all with my tags.
The last question is: When I change or add tags in one of my split catalogs, will it also changed in the original catalog? I have not tried, but sure you know the answer.

PS Do I need to update to 11? Is it much better? I’m now very used to 10. I find it strange that there is an update every year for minor extras.

Upgraded computer and PSE... where are old tags?

I recently got a new computer. I also changed OS from Windows 7 32bit to Windows 7 64bit which required re-formating my drive. I made a backup copy of everything. After installing the new OS, I upgranded from PSE 8 to PSE 9. I tried importing my pictures to the Organizer. It told me that my pictures were tagged and did I want to also bring in those tags. I said YES. However, after importing the pictures, only a fraction of the tags appeared. I have hundreds of pictures and dozens of tags. All the pictures are there but not the tags. Are the tags kept in a specific file that I can just move to the new folder? How do I recover all of the tags?

I made a backup copy of everything.
If you made a copy of the PSE Catalog file *.pse8db, then you need to find that on the old computer, move it to the new computer and then double-click on it. For this to work, your photos have to be in the exact same location on the new computer as they were in on the old computer.

Where are the tag and module references?

Where are photo meta files kept?

Where are the meta data files (if that is the correct term) kept for phots that are tagged, key worded, etc. in Phtoshop Elements 8. I screwed up my boot drive and had to re-install all programs. My photo dawere files are safe on another hard drive but I can't find any mycatalogfiles or equivalent on it nor in the image of my boot drive. Thanks for any assistance you all can provide.

The tags and other metadata are kept in the catalog file, and usually this is stored on the C: drive, unless you specifically moved it or created it on a different drive. For PSE8, the file name is *.pse8db. I do not know the default directory (maybe someone else can help), but you can use Windows to search for any file named *.pse8db (you might have to tell Windows to look in hidden directories). If you meant to say you had to re-format the boot drive (you didn't actually say that, but its sort of implied), then your catalog file and the tags and other metadata are gone. I hope you practiced safe computing and made a backup!

Where Are My Missing Master Images?

I keep my Aperture Library as a "managed" library rather than "referenced, so every master image is kept inside the Aperture Library icon.
Today I decided to look inside my Aperture Library (by selecting Show Package Contents), and I can only find master images from the past five years. The "Master" folder contains folders for projects I've titled 2012, 2011, and back to 2008. None of the earlier images that I keep in Aperture, 2007 through 2003, appear in the "Master" folder in the Aperture Library, and there are no folders for 2007 and earlier.
That is, if I look in Aperture Library -> Master -> I see folders for 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008. But that's it!
There are also no folders inside Preview for those earlier years, or inside Thumbnails.
And yet...
And yet when I'm in the Aperture application, I can Export any of the images, all the way back to 2003. So the master images are obviously available to Aperture somewhere. They exist. And I checked -- those earlier missing images not Referenced, they're Managed, just like the whole library.
So where are they??
I dug through other folders inside the Aperture Library package but didn't find a thing.

But I'm digging around inside the package and still puzzled -- images inside the folder Aperture Library.aplibrary -> Masters -> 2009 -> 06 -> 14 -> 20090614-214439/ were indeed shot on June 14, 2009. So it appears that those various level folder names reflect image creation date, not the import date.

these various level folder names reflect what Aperture thinks are the import dates.
The "Import Session" is one of the Aperture specific Metadata tags. You can display it in the Info/Metadata pane of the Inspector Panel, if you add it to one of the presets, and then you'll know, where to search, if you absolutely must to sleep well .
You can also use this tag to search or to define a smart album. For example, the image below has been captured in 2003, but was imported in 2010, and will be found in a 2010 folder.

Hi, when you redirect traffic to the CWS service for scanning, do you redirect the real traffic this way or is it a mirrored copy of the traffic ?
If all traffic is redirected to the Cloud, where are the Cisco datacenters located. Good to know I guess, since you don't want to avoid to much of latency

Will, Go to \\Hyperion\HyperionReports\lib\hr_global.properties on your report server. Open the file in a text editor and look for the SMTP settings section. There you should put the name or IP Address of the SMTP server. Restart your report services and you should be set to go. As far as the sending email account, from the Hyperion client, go into Preferences and input the email address you want to send with in the "Your email address" field. Now that will take care of sending emails from the client. If you plan to send reports via email from a batch file, it will default to a system account for the email, most email systems will not allow this so you will have to code the sending email address into your XML file used to send the batch. This is not overly obvious as the SENDER tag is not one of the defaults (don't ask me why) you need to go through the doc for an example or if you need one, send me an email and I can forward a sample to you. HTH

The background color and background image attributes of the table tag have been deprecated by the W3C and should no longer be used to specify those two things. As a result, they have (rightly) been removed from the table Property inspector). Instead, you are expected to use CSS to apply these two styles to the table in question, e.g.,
table#thisOne { background-color:#FF6633; background-image:url(path/to/image.jpg); }
which will style this table -
<table id="thisOne">...</table>
with a color and a background image.

Where are memos saved?

Question: Where are the notes made on the yellow "memo pad" saved to? In iTunes, I can locate backup on music, contacts, bookmarks, etc.—but see no sync/backup for the memo notes.
Anyone know?

It DOES seem odd that notes created on the iPhone can't be synced or edited. There are several other options for transferring notes entered on the iPhone to other places:
iGoogle lets you create notes on the iPhone that will appear in iGoogle on the desktop. Once created they can be edited on the desktop but not edited again on the iPhone.
Noter (www.dbelement.com) has a paid note taking app. Unlike iGoogle you can edit the note on the iPhone once it is created and sync it. It has very limited formatting and notes are restricted in size.
The most promising one is Evernote (www.evernote.com). They are the premier note taking application for computers today, with a rave review from Walt Mossberg in the Wall Street Journal a couple of years ago. I've been using it for several years. The current version only runs on a computer, but I am currently using a closed beta of Version 3, which allows notes to be accessed via the web as well as on the desktop (or notebook or tablet). They also have "fat" clients for Windows Mobile and other mobile operating systems, and promise an iPhone version in the near future. At the current time you can create notes on the iPhone and sync to your desktop via the web, view notes created on the desktop or in a browser on another computer. You cannot edit existing notes on the iPhone at this time. You CAN edit on the desktop or using a desktop browser window, so hopefully the iPhone version isn't far off. It supports full rich text formatting, tagging, searching, etc. It can import web clippings, graphics, works with tablets for ink notes, and most amazingly, can usually interpret the text within a graphic or ink note for searches.

Where are the FrameMaker 10 dictionaries located?

My FrameMaker 10 installation seems to be doing British English rather than American English. In the spelling checker, I do import dictionary, but can't find any! The dictionary directory on the DVD seems to contain invalid dictionaries.
So where are they hiding, and how do I install dictionaries for different languages?

The dictionaries are located in a Lingusitics folder common to Adobe installations. The exact location varies depending upon the O/S. However, you do not/cannot import any of these files - FM automatically uses the specified dictionary of the paratag or character tag containing the word in question. This allows you to mix languages in a single document.
You can tell FM to Learn a word for your Personal dictionary though via the SpellChecker.
FWIW, in my FM10 installations, both spellings are allowed with US English, whereas the UK English flags the "center" spelling.
Note: the message from FM about "no inserion point" indicates that you didn't do the global update correctly.

False returns - search brings back images that are not tagged

If I search on, for example, "Bag", I get all the images that I have tagged with "Bag", but then get a whole load more that do not have that word in their keywords (not even as part of another word) - where is the search engine finding the word "Bag"? I have had this with some other words too... Any ideas?

The search has many options, some loose some tight. Seems like if you have "contains" and "all criteria met" it should exclude all images that are not tagged "bag". If you have "any criteria met" then you could get other files, but still seems like "bag" would have to be in there someplace.

My suggested workaround: In Acrobat Pro, in the Page Thumbnails pane, select the pages that you want to replace then right click and select "Delete pages". Then, right-click the page just ahead of where the replacement pages will go, select "Insert pages", and follow the prompts. This is just the way I do it, not the only way.
Tiger26 is making the excellent suggestion that, prior to inserting pages, encapsulate the tags for the pages to be inserted using a Section tag. This makes the post-insertion chore of dragging the tags to their proper place in the tag structure easier.

Pages 08 Template images -where are they saved?

I know Pages 08 does not have clip art but I like many of the pictures on the templates. I want to use some of the template images (like the cat.tiff or frog.tiff) on a blank document. Copying & pasting works but I'd rather be able to see all the template tiffs at once. Where are the template images(tiffs) located on my hard drive. Is there a specific iWork folder I can find them in?

The images are "buried" in each template which is buried in the Pages application. You can find them by Control- or right-clicking on the Pages application > Show package contents > Contents > Resources > Templates & then the folder for the template category you want. Then Control- or right-clicking on the template icon > Show package contents > Contents where you will find the actual images.
Or you can just copy & paste from an open template.

The photos are still on your phone, and if enabled in your Photo Stream. They are not automatically transferred to your computer when syncing.
