Where are preview bookmarks kept now?

Preview bookmarks used to be exportable from user library preferences file, but under Preview 5.5 that seems to have gone.
Where can I now find a  file with my Preview bookmarks?

Open a new tab or window. type '''about:support''' in the address
box and press enter.
'''Or'''
Press the '''Alt''' or '''F10''' key to bring up the tool bar.
Then '''Help > Troubleshooting Information.'''
Under the page logo on the left side you will see '''Application Basics.'''
Under this find '''Profile Folder.''' To it’s right press the button
'''Show Folder.''' This will open your file browser to the current
Firefox profile. Now '''Close FireFox.'''
Enter the '''bookmarkbackups''' folder. This is
where Firefox makes backups of your bookmarks. Look for the
file you want to restore (check the time / date). Right click on
that file and select '''Copy.''' Now go back to the parent folder
where you started. Right click in the folder and select '''Paste.'''
Rename the file '''bookmarks.html''' by adding
'''.old''' to it. The file you just pasted here, rename it to
'''bookmarks.html.''' After you are done, restart Firefox.

  • Where are Altered Photos kept?

I recently upgraded to iLife 08, and am trying to use iPhoto, having spend very little time on the previous version. I know that the subfolders are no longer accessible, so ... where are my 'altered' photos going?
If I alter a photo in PhotoShop, and save it with a new name, the file doesn't show up anywhere in Finder, nor in the iPhoto Library proper.
If I do a Spotlight search, I can find the photo file (supposedly located in the 'altered' folder in iPhoto that I don't actually have access to). However, if I click to open the file from Spotlight, it just reopens the jpeg in Photoshop.
Where do I find this new file to access it for other purposes?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.

That's the problem. You must setup PS as the editor of choice from within iPhoto and follow these steps:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • E61 - where are the notes kept?

    Hi,
simple question: Where are notes (in *.txt format) kept on the E61? I would like to synchronize one of them with my laptop, but I couldn´t find them using the "Nokia Phone Browser" that pops up in my Explorer once I have connected via USB.
    Thanks a lot!

  • Where are Safari Bookmarks Saved for Restore?

I need to backup and reinstall MAC OS X but I have no idea where all my bookmarks from Safari are stored so I can be sure I don't lose them.
    Thank You
    Patrick

    Hello patrick:
In answer to your question, I "think" they are in your home folder (~library>safari.... bookmarks.plist). However, I have never tested that premise.
If I were you, I would do an archive and install:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
An A&I will install a fresh OS X while preserving your files, programs, and settings. A backup of everything is always a good idea before any software changes.
IMHO, there is almost NO reason to do an erase and install.

  • Where are RAW files kept in iPhoto?

I just recovered a bunch of photos from an SD card I accidentally erased.  (Eh, they were just my 17-month year old's first Christmas Eve with Santa, no big deal, right?) Thankfully, I was able to recover them using a utility called CardRaider. (Worth every friggin' cent of the $17.99 it cost me.) But now I have a folder full of NEF files, which are the RAW images.  I'd like to keep them with all the rest of my iPhoto files, but I can't seem to track them down.  Where can I stash these files to keep them with the other thousands of RAW files I have?

    What version of iPhoto?
Assuming that you have a default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) then all of your imported photos are copied bit for bit into th eiPhoto library and can be accessed at any time by exporting them with kind = original
To see your RAW photos make a smart album with kind = RAW

  • Where are my bookmarks in Apple maps after the iOS 8 update?

What happened to my bookmarks in Apple maps now that I have upgraded to iOS 8?

They will show up when you are in the field to Seach or Enter an Address:
Bookmarks for maps in iOS 8 missing
When you are getting Directions between 2 locations, however, they don't show up (for me); just start typing the name of the Favorite or Recent or Contact, and choices will appear.

  • Where are my bookmarks?

They were there before I upgraded but now they are gone and Apple sent me a default set instead. Any ideas where these can be imported from in the "Previous Systems" folders or do I have to set them all up again?

Sorry, didn't work but luckily I have a lot of backups and I managed to find copies that were sufficiently recent to reinstate. The "Previous Systems" folder is not always fully populated - if the Leopard upgrade trashes your user ids it seems to "forget" to copy some user related files.
Basically this is untested software being trialled by the user base. In 3 months Leopard might be a good product.

  • Where are safari bookmarks stored

need to locate  where in the system Safari stores the bookmarks file.

You're right, AndyBall, I'd forgotten that one... Though plist files aren't easy to decrypt, and usually need Xcode installed to edit, this is where bookmarks settings are stored.
Antonio, most of what you want to do with your bookmarks (edit names, URLs, delete them, etc...) can be done directly from Safari. What do you need to do with your bookmarks, exactly?

  • Where are the bookmarks after Firefox Sync?

I appear to have successfully synched my android device with my Firefox desktop. The Firefox android settings show "Connected" enabled, and I have a date and time for Last update.
However, I can't see the bookmarks (or any other other sync data). Would you please let me know where/how I access them on my android device (Samsung Galaxy S2)?
    Thanks,
    Ray

Thank you ... that is very helpful indeed!
I have nested bookmark folders. Presumably Mozilla knows that when pressing the 'go to previous screen' back button from a nested folder on an android device, you are returned to the original web page itself rather than the previous nested folder?
    Thank you.

  • Where are the bookmarks???

I know how to store a new bookmark, but then "how" do you access that bookmark??? I have searched endlessly and cannot find where the hell the bookmarks are located.
    Thanks a lot in advance!

If you tap the "awesome bar" you should get a 3-tab display of top sites, bookmarks and history. I'm sure someday I'll remember to look there before looking in the menu, but it's taking a while.

  • Where are font preferences kept?

I have this weird situation with the font window, the one you bring up in TextEdit when you select "Show fonts". The window that comes up as many invisible entries in my Favorites window. That is, about 5 lines show fonts I have saved as to size and color, etc. However below that are about 10 lines of nothing visible, yet if I have text selected and and click on those empty lines then it formats the text. Obviously there is something wrong since the font name and formatting does not show.
I have tried to find out to reset this by looking for the preferences files that holds my settings but cannot find it.
Does anybody know where it is?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hi, Richard.
The preference file that contains your font Favorites, as displayed in the Font palette (the "font window" you cited), is the file
    com.apple.Favorites.collection
in your Home > Library > FontCollections folder. This folder also contains any font collections or libraries you've defined using Font Book.
    Good luck!

  • Where are my scanned photos now that I'm in iPhoto 6?

    Hey there,
Can anyone give me a clue about where my scanned photos get stored so I can find and import them? I've looked everywhere. (What happened to the ease of iPhoto just leaving them on the screen to be dragged onto the library page?)
    Thanks! Ann

    Ann:
    What scanner are you using?
The scanner was set to scan "jpeg to iPhoto
By that do you mean it was set to save the file in a folder named iPhoto? If that's the case then that's not what you want to do. Scan photos to a folder outside of the iPhoto Library folder and then import them from that folder. Putting files directly into the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder or another application will not get them imported into iPhoto.
If that's the case look inside your Pictures/iPhoto Library folder for any jpgs in the top level of that folder and move them to the desktop. Then import them from there.
    Do you Twango?

  • Where Are TextEdit Documents Kept?

I use Mavericks.  I just typed a letter within TextEdit, titled it, and now I can't find the letter.  Where should I be looking?

Text Edit>File>open recent  to get back to your file.
It saves to the last folder you saved to by default.  ex desktop
an alternative is to create a dummy text edit file,  and save. What is the location specified?  THis is where your file is located.

  • Where are compressor settings kept?

I have Compressor and some settings I would like to share with some fellow educators who do not have it, but do have FCP X. I was hoping to find the location where the Compressor settings are stored and add extras. And would they need to be in a folder labelled Custom, or just thrown in? Or is the whole idea not going to work? Thanks for any insight.

I should have mentioned earlier - that is the location of custom settings that you have created. The default settings that it ships with are stored inside the application bundle.
So if you don't have Compressor, you can't create custom settings and so you won't have that directory.
If you have an earlier version of Compressor the settings are stored at ~/Library/Application Support/Compressor.
