Where are the files saved after successfully using the Migration Assistant from PC to a Mac?

I just used the Migration Assistant from PC to Mac but I can't find where the files were saved? I thought the process was supposed to create a new user account...Why can't I see it on the login screen?
Please help ! I've formatted my PC so I wanna make sure that my files are not lost

Safari operates correctly, music icon matches (not from iTunes, simply music on my MacPro and iPod). Is Cloud the issue, perhaps? But everything worked before the upgrade. Using my home network. Hope this info suffices. Appreciate any guidance.

Problem solved. Saw the solution in a more recent post. Downloaded a free app, then all my other apps started to work again.

I have an I-mac late 2011. I mostly use it for Logic Pro and general internet use. With using Logic Pro I create a lot of projects and folders so I thought it best to purchase an external HD of 1TB and save them there.
I was sure I had set it up to save all Logic Pro files to the external HD as a default. But Ive noticed that if I forget turn on the external HD I am still able to access my Logic Pro files. Its possible I am saving duplicate copies on the external and on Imac.
Ive been ignoring it a long time and would really like to find out where exactly these files are defaulting to, or is it both. Its confusing because, for example, I could have 50 projects saved on the External HD and maybe 80 on the Imac. Some maybe duplicated copies on both and some maybe be only one copy and only on one source. The aim is to get them all on the external HD and free up the Imac of these large Logic Pro files.
Its a bad habit Im in and very basic knowledge I should be aware of but I really don't know what way Im saving these files and they are so important to me.
Any help greatly appreciated

I burned a 1 hour 41 minute HD program in FCPX using "Share" and "DVD..." It took about 17 hours to compress into a DVD. I made a few copies and quit the process. Now I want to make more copies, but I can't find where the completed file is saved. Was it saved at all? Or do I have to do this 17 hour compression all over again?

By default it goes in your Movies folder.
Users > (Account Name) > Movies > Shared Items.

I am starting to learn web coding. when I saved my code with html extension and opened in safari, the html element is also displayed. what possibly did I do wrong?

I was trying to attach a screen shot but it keeps missing....
there is no option other than web page(.html) and Rich text. the other option is for microsoft document file.

Textedit in iCloud - where are my files

In my new macbook pro I use Textedit several times a day. The app is outofbox set up to sync my files to my icloud account. The account is setup to have documents and data synced in general, but textedit docs does not show up anywhere in my icloud account - nor does any other data!
I have written hundreds of textedit files, and no help items covers this, so I would appreciate a hint!!!

Many apps can save data files to icloud, but these cannot be viewed by a browser in icloud - the intent is that these apps can be used on mac and iOS devices. Saving to icloud is just used as a way of syncing the files to other devices using the same app.
In your case, if you have two macs, then syncing a textedit file to icloud allows you to use textedit on the other mac to access them. There is no textedit on iOS devices, so you won't be able to access them from these devices.

I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files. For some reason, just this past week Image Capture will no longer save the file. It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.

The file name has no special character in it, just letters and no spaces.
I have done this in the past and it has worked, but now it will not.
I have not upgraded any software, that I am aware of.
After scanning, the Image Capture pops up the Scan Results with the file name in the window, but neither the Scan Results nor the Image Capture window responds to inputs. The Image Capture window is frozen, with only the "Overview" and "Cancel" buttons active (but non-responsive).
Is this a software issue or a scanner hardware issue? I am using a HP Photosmart C6200 series printer/scanner on a network using a Time Capsule airport.

I had the same problem.
Got a 90% fix. Apparently the Mavericks preferences won't work with Yosemite, so I just deleted the Image Capture preferences.
Unfortunately, the "Scan to" folder seems to be permanently set to the Pictures folder.
1. Quit Image Capture
2. Go to Finder > Go > Home, which opens up your home folder (named after your user name)
3. Open Library > Preferences > com.apple.ImageCapture.plist - Drag this file to the Trash
4. Start "Image Capture", click "Details" and change all your settings as you prefer
5. Quit and restart "Image Capture". Notice it remembers all your settings except "Scan to" folder. It insists on saving to "Pictures".
That's as far as I was successful. I tried changing the "Scan to" folder to "Desktop", but on launch, Image Capture always sets it back to "Pictures".
This is what I tried:
6. Download and install "Pref Setter" from http://www.nightproductions.net/prefsetter.html
7. Quit "Image Capture". Right-click on "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist" and open with Pref Setter.
8. Search for "Pictures", which finds "~/Pictures" (the tilde character at the start means your home directory).
9. Double-click on "~/Pictures" and change it to the folder you prefer. I like "~/Desktop"
10. Choose File > Save then Quit from Pref Setter. Note that re-opening the plist file still shows "~/Desktop"
11. Start up "Image Capture" -- on startup, "Image Capture" sets "Scan to" folder to "Pictures"
I consider this a bug.

As I posted before, I would use it more if it had some of the functionality I need. I need to be able to change the opacity of the image I'm pasting so I can see EXACTLY where my overlaid image will register with the bottom image. VP seems to require a ton of processing and I wonder if maybe the software is handing off some of this work to the graphics card for calculating. Maybe this would explain that apparently not many people have run into an error that gets embedded in the file. Although my G5 is Apple stock, not super-modified.

Where are my files after running Migration Assistant?

I ran Migration Assistant using a Time Machine back up as I bought a new MacBook Pro that could hold all my files that I previously had on an iMac and another MacBook Pro. I first ran Migration Assistant and got all my files, preferences etc. on the new MBP no problem, but then after trying to combine the files from the iMac using a Time Machine back up as well, I don't see any of the files from my iMac available anywhere. However, all the space is filled up. Where are my files? Am I doing it wrong?

Some bookmarks did not show up so I asked to restore (from the bookmark menu) - now all have disappeared. What files are the bookmarks stored in (in the system) So I can use the time machine to restore them from a previous date?

I do a lot of work on the web and I have a ton of bookmarks that I use to maintain various sites. I have lost them all!
I have tried to install a clean copy of the programme and restore the Mozilla file from the User Library (in time machine) but all I have is a white space where the bookmark toolbar was! I also have a problem in trying to enter all the bookmarks manually again. I can open the bookmark drop down but I cannot save any bookmarks. Firefox will not let me bookmark any new pages. I still have all the passwords in the preferences so I do not want to install a completely new copy of the programme and loose these.
Are there any other system files that Firefox uses that I can restore from the backup to solve the problem?
I have a Mac Pro and I am running OSX 10.6.4
I have used Firefox for many years and never had a problem before.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

But what specifically are you entering in the Save In: field of the dialog that includes the Save button to initiate the export process.
Are you saving it as a file to the Desktop or to a specific folder on the Desktop? Have you given the export a distinctive file name?
The screenshot shows the Save In: to the Desktop as a file.
I have no idea of your background with the program, so I ask these questions so as to take nothing for granted.
If the computer Desktop is crowded, as mine often is, it is easy to have difficulty spotting a file save to the Desktop.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
By default, Migration Assistant creates a new user account where it puts all the transferred data. Just go to  > Log Out, and log in the new user that Migration Assistant has created, so you will be able to access to the transferred data.
If you want to merge the data into the first user account, use the Shared folder (it's in /Users/Shared) to put the transferred files there, and then, on the first user, go to the Shared folder and put all the data in the folders you want

Paragraphs seem to only be dealt with in styles, and the Formatting window for text doesn't seem to have the space after paragraph contrtol that the older Inspector had. What am I missing?

Sorry I did this without looking:
Side panel >Text > Style > Spacing > Turn the triangle > Before Paragraph/After Paragraph/

After loading a picture into Photoshop some of the menu tools are greyed out and I cannot use the keyboard short cuts, for instance I cannot use Ctrl + T for free transform, how do I resolve this problem. In addition the tool Icons are so small I have to get close to the screen to see them, is there anyway the Icons can be made bigger without reducing the resolution of the screen.

Are you working on a background layer? If so, Ctrl + T will not work. Press Alt and double-click your background layer to convert to a normal layer (or right-click BG layer and select Layer from Background) and try again.
If you're working in Photoshop CC 2014 you can go to Preferences > Experimental Features and tick "Scale UI 200% for high-density displays" to make your buttons and icons larger.
