Where are the paragraph style tools in Indesign CC2014?

Hi! I've just started using Id through Creative Cloud on a new computer (have been using CC CS6 for two years), and the installer gave me CC2014 rather than CS6. So this is a question only about CC2014.
Where has the paragraph styles window gone? Specifically, how can I edit, create and organise paragraph styles, and how can I get a window up on the main screen with all the styles laid out? All these things were easy to find in CS6, but I can't track them down in CC2014. The only thing I get (and that with a bit of customization). is a drop-down menu in the main toolbar, which allows me to choose from existing options on an existing document.
There is no Paragraph Styles option under Windows>Styles.
There is no Paragraph Styles option under Type.
The only Paragraph window which appears is designed for editing text as you go along, not for applying styles.
The Help options all point me back to the entry for CS6, and tell me to go to Type>Paragraph Styles (which doesn't exist).
I can't get a window up on the main screen to apply styles instantly from a list. I only get that dropdown menu, which has no further options.
Can anyone either point me to some up-to-date guidelines or explain where all the paragraph options have gone and how I can use them? Alternatively, can I revert to CS6? This was easy and intuitive before, and now it's neither...
Thanks!

Yes, that did it. All the old menu options have reappeared. I don't know why they were hidden in the first place - these were things I never needed to set up on either of my previous computers.
Thank you very much!

Where is the vertical type tool in InDesign CC 2014???

Thanks. Yes, I had referred to that InDesign Secrets post before posting my question. Thus my question about table. Still dont know why my insert table command is greyed out. The stairstep method doesnt work with my narrow spine and decorative, non-monospace font, as explained in exchange here with Bob Levine. And downloading the CJK version for this single, simple task is just too much trouble. The individual text frames proved the fastest solution.

  • Where are the .joboptions stored on a Mac for InDesign CC?

Where are the .joboptions stored on a Mac for InDesign CC?
I put them in the usual directory:      /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings   .  .  . but they are not seen by InDesign CC.
. . . Photoshop, Illustrator, Distiller and Acrobat are seeing my custom profiles and any default profiles I removed are not there for those apps.
Even older versions of all these apps and InDesign 6 and 5 see my custom profiles.
But InDesign CC only shows the ones shown in the screen shot below:  (High Quality, the PDF/X versions[3], Press and Smallest size)
I know I can probably do a "Load" profile, but that's not the point and I need to remove the default profiles.
I'm in a multiple user environment and need to lock down the use of profiles to our companies select few.
Did a thorough search of the entire Mac and PDF/X- does not even show up.   Any suggestions?     Anyone?    I'm scratchin'  my head at this point.

      This was the correct answer:
Laubender     Jun 2, 2014 12:18 AM  (in response to Maurice Castelbuono)
@Maurizio – the standard settings, the joboption files with the brackets like [PDF/X-1a:2001] are stored inside the inDesign app for InDesign CC 9.2.1.
The path for these would be:
    /Applications/Adobe InDesign CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Resources/Adobe PDF/settings/mul
or with a Japanese version of InDesign:
    /Applications/Adobe InDesign CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Resources/Adobe PDF/settings/japan
If you do a right-click on the InDesign app you can show them with "Show Package Contents" options.
All other PDF joboptions that you are creating are relative to your current User Library. They are stored in:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings
Where the tilde sign at the beginning indicates the home of the currently used user.
You can access ~/Library, if you press the alt key when accessing the "Go To" menu in the Finder. Otherwise it's invisible.

  • Authoring Tool - Where are the updated MPs for the Library After Applying Update Roll Ups

    All,
Fairly recently, I took a client to SCSM 2012 R2 UR3. Today I dropped by to do some work for them on custom MPs, and when I attempted to open them with the SCSM 2012 R2 Authoring tool, I could not, because the 7.5.3079.148 MPs (UR3 version) are not in the
library. I have searched high and low to locate these MP files to drop them into the library, but I am coming up empty handed. Where are the .MP files? I am aware that we can just directly alter the referenced MP version number in the MP itself, but I want
to know where do we actually find these correctly versioned files for the authoring tool.
    Thanks,
    Z

    Hey Everyone,
I have heard back a few times from MS, but with nothing substantially helpful other than they created a bug for it. Today they called again and said this is listed with a low priority, because not enough people are complaining about it, which has a several-months
time frame for resolution. He asked me to submit Connect Feedback and get people to Upvote it and state that they can reproduce the problem. So, I went out there, found one connect request already submitted (By Thomas Bianco above) and attached to the bug,
and I Upvoted and clicked the Repros link on it. Here is the link below, so please get out there and and Upvote and click the Repros link.

  • InDesign CS6: How do I set Character Color to Unspecified/Undefined in the Paragraph Style Options?

Is there a way to create a Paragraph Style that leaves the Character Color unspecified?  I have a bunch of existing text frames containing characters of various colors. When I apply the Paragraph Style, the text is changed to black. I want the text color to remain unchanged; that is, I want the Paragraph Style's Character Color attribute undefined.  How do I do this?
All of the text frames in this case have their Character Style set to [None]. The text colors were applied individually, not via the use of Character Styles.

I have a bunch of existing text frames containing characters of various colors. When I apply the Paragraph Style, the text is changed to black. I want the text color to remain unchanged
If you apply the color to the characters via Character styles then the colors will be unchanged when the Paragraph style is applied. Like this:

  • Problem applying Paragraph styles in CS4 InDesign

I boughtCS4 InDesign for Windows perhaps six months ago, and it worked fine with Windows XP. I have recently installed Windows 7 and find that the paragraph styles won't always work. Of ten when I try to use the shortcut for paragraph style the paragraph in question turns pink with small squares in it. If I undo the application of paragraph styles it goes back to text. I am using Times New Roman as the major font. However, I have tried other fonts and they won't work in paragraph style either.
I tried changing several pages of the manuscript to Times New Roman Special G1, but it won't do the commas, quotes, etc. (special characters).
Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do to fix this mess?
    Thanks for any help.
    Earl Davis

Well, here's the situation now. But before describing it, let me thank Peter
Spier and Bob Levine who have endeavored to help me. Now, here's where we
    are:
I copied a document over from Pagemaker into InDesign using Times New Roman
font. (I did the same for two other book manuscripts this past summer,
shortly after purchasing InDesign and had no problem). Suddenly a couple
weeks ago I found that the shortcut I set for the paragraph styles did not
format the paragraphs, etc., but rather turned the paragraph in which I
placed the cursor into a series of pink squares highlighted in pink. I have
tried the suggestions you fellows have given, such as copying the fonts
presently in the Windows Font Directory into the Adobe/InDesign/Fonts
directory, and then right-clicking on them and installing them. By the way,
the InDesign font directory only had the Times New Roman and Times New Roman
Special 1 and Renaissance font in it, until I copied all my fonts there and
installed them. Another oddity, I make the first letter of the first
paragraph of each chapter a decorative Renaissance font, spanning two lines.
I now find that when I do that, I may get a black square, which may turn
into the correct font after I adjust the size to two lines.
But on the general problem, I have tried changing the font in the
paragraph styles to Amerigo BT, and I sometimes get the shortcut to work,
and sometimes it still turns it into Times New Roman Special or black
squares. Also, I have opened a new file and put another copy of the text in
it, setting up the paragraph styles, etc. and still have the same problem.
So I'm at a loss what to do.  I do think it's possible I am doing
something wrong with fonts or setting up the paragraph styles, but I don't
see any errors there. All my computer fonts show up in the fonts panel of
    the document.  Any more ideas?

  • How do I get the nested style sheets to work in the paragraph style sheets?

How do I get the nested style sheets to work in the paragraph style sheets?

Hi Denise, we need more information on what you are trying to do before we can help on your specific issue.
You can look at this document, which covers nested styles: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/indesign/cs/using/WSE33E49F9-94CE-4043-AA51-4761408A63F4a.html

  • Where is the mobile style sheet for media queries?

When I create a new document in Dreamweaver CC, I get the following @media queries:
    GLOBAL
    only screen and (min-width : 481px)
    only screen and (min-width : 769px)
Where is the mobile style sheet?
I thought the fluid grid layout option in DW would create 3 screen sizes.
Do I have to create another special style sheet to only apply to the mobile version?
When I click on the mobile icon at the bottom of Dreamweaver's CC screen, I see the mobile page with the 4 column grid.
But how do I make changes to just one screen size, say mobile?
When I have the mobile view on my screen, and have GLOBAL @Media selected, the changes I make go across all screen sizes. I want some styling to only be applied to mobile. I don't understand how to do this. Could somone please claify if I am missing a @Media sheet and how to create it if needed. Thanks.

FGLayouts are built on the mobile first scheme.  There's nothing you have to do.

  • How to change the paragraph style of every paragraph that only contains an anchored object?

    Hi,
I have a document in word that needs to be converted into indesign. The document containts instructions, each step followed by an image.
I've managed to import the document into Indesign, and applied a paragraph style with numbering to everything (text an image).
Now, how to change the the paragraph style of every paragraph that only contains a image? I need to get rid of the numbering.
    Thanks in advance.

Create two Paragraph Styles and name them Image and Non-Image. Apply the paragraph styles manually to the text containing image and not containing images.

4.How to create template for automation? What is the need of template creation.
5.Whether I need to install build Controller & Test Controller for the lab Center  to work in MTM.

    Hi Nazimanasir,
For your questions, check the replies in below items:
    1. Tfs is a dependent software, but have prerequisites for installation. And you may check MSDN pages to see the requirements like:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd578592(v=vs.100).aspx
If you want to know TFS architecture, you can refer to the
page for more information. And you can get started TFS 2010 from this
page. You have to install SCVMM if you want to use it to manage virtual machines
    2. For the license issue, you might contact
    http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/contact-us.aspx
directly for the better response, where specialized experts live in. You can also refer to the upgrade guide here:
    http://vsarupgradeguide.codeplex.com/
    3. With the Lab management,  you can build and test in lab environment. Refer to this
page for more information about lab management.  The build controller is for TFS build, and test controller is for testing which can be used to run test cases by MTM.
    4. I'm not quite clear the template you mean, please elaborate more details. If you're saying build process template, then you can use the build process templates that accompany with the team project. If you mean process template, you can check them in process
template manager. You can also check this
page for more information about customize TFS process template.
    5. Once you have setup your TFS machine, then you can configure build controller by following the instruction in this page:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee330987.aspx And check this
link for setting up test controller. For MTM related questions, you can also open a new thread in MTM forum for a better response.

  • Anchor point in the Graph Editor and where are the Tips

    Hello All,
What is the purpose of an anchor point in the Graph Editor when you have "Show Transform Box when multiple keyframes are Selected" engaged.   The pointer automatically turns into a PanBehind tool.   I moved it inside, outside, on the line and it doesn't seem to have any inpact on the scaling of the transform box.  Not only that, it pops back to the center when you switch from "Edit Speed Graph" and "Edit Value Graph"
I haven't used the graph editor much, if ever and was also curious to know what/where are the graph tool tips.  I haven't seen any difference when Show Graph Tool Tips is selected.
    Thanks in advance
    on a mac   cs5.5

OK, I see the Tool Tips are displayed when you hover over a keyframe or the path that is made.

  • Where are the bristle brushes in PS CC 2014?

According to documentation PS CC has bristle brushes, but I can not find any brushes labeled such and no interface items to manipulate them as shown in the adobe-tv video: Working with the new bristle brush tips | Visual Design CS5 | Adobe TV
Do these exist? Where are they? And where are the controls described in the video? (which seems to be for PS CS5 btw)

on my system there are several default bristle tip brushes with small brush icons: flat point, flat blunt ... etc.
upon opening the brush panel for any of those with the brush icon, you can select from 10 different bristle qualities shapes.
if you don't have these default brushes, might try resetting the brushes (right click down arrow on tools icon on menu bar)
