  • Office 2013: where the heck are the security updates hiding?

I built a deployment for Office 2013 yesterday.  The source files were downloaded from Microsoft, with SP1 integrated.  This is *not* a "Click to Run" deployment.  I used the Office Customization Tool to make a few changes (we're
not using OneDrive, so that piece isn't getting installed.  I disabled the "First Run" and Customer Experience stuff, and disabled RSS Feeds and SharePoint integration.  And I put in our volume license key.  Overall it's a pretty vanilla
    build.)
I wanted to include all available security updates since SP1 has been released, and stick them into the "Updates" folder of my deployment.  So after I installed Office 2013 x64 on my Windows 7 x64 system (the base package that I built installs
just fine), I went to Windows Update to see what was available.  There is nothing there.  I rebooted, and tried again.  Still nothing.  If I go into one of the Office 2013 apps, and go to File -> Account, I do *not* have any "Update"
    buttons or options.
If I go to Windows Update in my Control Panel, and click "Change Settings", I have two things checked.  "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates", and "Allow all users to install updates on this
computer."  There are no other options to look for alternative Microsoft products, or at least no options that I can find.  This is Windows 7 x64 SP1, fully patched.
I know that there have been security updates released for Office 2013 since SP1 came out in February 2014.  I manually downloaded a security patch for Lync 2013, and installed that MSP onto this test system with no
issues.  So there are applicable security updates out there.  So why in the world can't I find the updates through the normal mechanisms?  Ideally, we'd want for end users to be able to install security updates manually in an
emergency, but either I'm missing something, or that is not possible in Office 2013.  Hopefully distributing Office 2013 updates through SCCM will work, but from what I'm seeing so far, I'm not sure the machines will be "detected" as having
Office 2013, because right now it can't even scan itself against Windows Update for that product.
Thanks for any input...I'm quite baffled at how the update routine is supposed to be functioning in Office 2013.  I think the missing link is why I can't choose to search for "other" Microsoft products from the Windows Update panel.
    The option/checkbox is totally gone.

    Hi,
By default Windows Update only updates Windows itself. To get updates for Office and for any other Microsoft products as well, you will need to upgrade your Windows Update to Microsoft Update.
On Windows Update panel, click "Find out more" link to install Microsoft Update.
    Hope this helps.

  • Where are the actual documents stored in solution manager (KW)?

    Hello,
I have a question regarding Solution Manager and storing documentation.
When we in our process structure in a project uploads a word document
(as documentation), where are the file then physically stored?
I have checked the table SA01PHIO (a KW table), here I see a new entry every time I
upload a new word document (or other type of documentation). But this
table does not grow accordingly to the size of the word documents I
upload, so the physical document must be stored somewhere else in the
    database.
The description of field 'PHIO_ID' in table SA01PHIO is "Physical document", but since the field is of type char (size 32), then it can only be a link to the actual file?
We need to know where the documents are stored, so that we can plan our
storage strategy and database space management accordingly.
Anyone knows where the files are stored in the database?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Samuli,
    Thank you for your help.
After further searches, I have found exactly what I was looking for.
Samuli, as you said, documents are stored in table SACONT01, but I did not understand how they were stored, as all the data you have in this table is something like:
    FF06010102028000343130320000000074040000121F9D02A37D7259692086C2F0D7761017222...
So the information can be benefit to other people searching, I will share it here.
The string of alpha-numeric characters you see above is a "part" of the document.
Document data is cut into clusters, and stored in table SACONT01 (in field CLUSTD, coupled with CLUSTR).
In order to retrieve all the clusters for a given document, you need to get its logical ID (LOIO - LOgical Information on Object):
    - Select the document (SOLAR01/02 for projects, SOLMAN_DIRECTORY for solutions)
    - Enter DOC_INFO in the transaction code field
    - Copy the Object ID
In table SA01PHIO, retrieve the physical id(s) from the logical id (PHIO - PHysical Information on Object).
Search SACONT01 with the physical id(s).
    Just as an example:
    - 340 entries for a Word document (about 50 pages)
    - 57000 entries for a video (200 MB)
    Hope it will help.
    Regards,
    Rémi.

  • Where are the results (report) stored

Running Oracle 10g on Solaris 10 SPARC
Have run the following commands (get info for fine tuning of Oracle 10g on Solaris 10):
    from SQLPlus
    execute dbms_stats.gather_dictionary_stats;
    and
    execute dbms_stats.gather_fixed_objects_stats;
Where are the results stored [table name ? path to file ?]
and is there documentation as to how to interpret the stats data collected?
    Thanks

    1) These two "stats" are run for the sole use of the OptimizerMainly, yes.
    2) Should these be run periodically to provide
    updated information to the system(Oracle)?
if so, how often..Depends on the tables and what they are being used for.
Some tables may require daily updating of stats, others less frequently or never.
Any other infomation you can provide or point me to a
    document that explains this?http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14211/stats.htm#sthref1466

  • Where are the page comments stored?

    Hello,
does anybody know where are the page comments are stored?
I searched the view APEX_APPLICATION_PAGES, but I can`t find them.
I hope you can give me a hint!
    Thank you,
    Tim

    Hey Scott,
    thanks for your quick answer!
In the table wwv_flow_app_comments is only one entrs, and that is a comment of a HTML Region!
So the comments of the pages, which i put into the comment text field in the page detail are not there!
    What is wrong?
Is there a reason why there are a few for the regions, items, processes and so on, but not for pages?
It is a little bit confusing...
    Thank you,
    Tim

  • Are the security updates included in 10.6.7?

I am new to MAC so I am still getting used to the update feature on Mac vs. PC.
Recently I upgraded the Mac OS X from 10.6.6 to 10.6.7 via the software update. Did that include the security patches, or do I need to do an additional update of just those patches?
Thanks in advance for any assistance to a newbie...

    LOL!
Apple doesn't issue security updates unless there is some vulnerability that's been found.
That's certainly true. It's also true that most of those security updates are potential vulnerabilities that could happen. They don't mean that there is some exploit running amuck in the wild infecting Mac systems.
Agreed, there were only couple that got into the wild and they were harmless and yes, they are only "potential" or proof-of-concept.
There are a number of people reinstalling 10.6.6 because of a side effect of the 10.6.7 update. If your livelihood depends on being able create PDF documents using OpenType (Adobe) fonts, you just might want to take the very minor risk of staying with 10.6.6 for the time being.
If my livelihood depended on Adobe, I think I'd shoot myself

  • Where are the BEx variable stored

    Hi All,
I have couple of doubts. I would appreciate, if some one can through some light on these.
    1. Where does all the BEx variables stored, if they are stored in BW, then in which transparent tables these are stored.
    2. Where does the properties of the BEx InfoObject in the BEX Query are stored, if they are stored in BW, then in which transparent tables these are stored.
    Thanks in advance,
    CK

    Hi Sudheer,
Are you ready for have some fun?!?
With BW Analyzer loaded and one of your BW workbooks open in Excel do the following:
First, launch the Visual Basic Editor.  You do this either on the Excel Menu Bar (Tools >> Macro >> Visual Basic Editor); or, by pressing Alt + F11.
Be sure that the Project Explorer Window is visible.  If not, on the VB Editor toolbar select View >> Project Explorer; or, press Ctrl + R.
Projects are listed alphabetically.  Probably the first object you see in the Project list is SAPBEX(sapbex.xla).  This is the BW Analyzer.  You can't open it, but you can explore it using the VB Editor Object Browser.  More about that later.
For now, locate your workbook.  It will probably be named VBAProject(name of workbook.xls).  If there is a "+" to the left of the project name, click on the + to expand it.
You will see at least two types of objects:
    + Microsoft Excel Objects
    + Modules
    Expand them both.
Among the Microsoft Excel Objects, you will see worksheets, maybe charts, and the object for the workbook itself (ThisWorkbook).
Each sheet has two names.  The first is the codename.  The second is the name you see on the tabs when you are in Excel.
Notice that there are two more worksheets here than you see in Excel.  One of these has a "tab name" of SAPBEXqueries; the other is named SAPBEXfilters.
There is nothing you can do in Excel to make these sheets visible.  They are not ordinary hidden worksheets.
There are two ways you can make them visible:
    1.  using the Properties Window
    2.  using Visual Basic code
If the Properties Window is not visible, on the VB Editor toolbar select View >> Properties Window; or, press F4.  Double-click on the worksheet object to select it.  Then, change the Visible Property to Visible.
Or, use this line of code (for example):
    Sheets("SAPBEXqueries").Visible = True
to return it to its original condition, the VBA command is:
    Sheets("SAPBEXqueries").visible = xlSheetVeryHidden
Now I must tell you that anything you do from this point on is not covered by your warranty.  Don't worry, you can't break BW.  But, you can create a beautiful report that stops working with the next system patch that gets installed.
Now that you are looking at these sheets, you probably would like to have a guide as to what they contain.  I posted some of that a few months ago.  I can't locate the posting right now.  You can do a search on my name to find it.  Or, if you wait, I'll find it and post the link to this thread.
But ... there is a better way than reading my old posting.  Try this ... refresh a query in Excel.  Then, come back to the Visual Basic Editor.  Select the BW Analyzer Object ...  SAPBEX(sapbex.xla).  Then, on the VB Editor menu, select Run >> Run Macro (F5); scroll down to sapbexDebugPrint and run that macro.  It will create an amazing workbook that tells you everything you could ever want to know about the query you just refreshed. (Including a complete list of valid OLAP fire commands.)
By comparing the various worksheets in this amazing workbook with the tables in the very-hidden SAPBEXqueries worksheet, you can learn what just about every one of those tables is all about.
But ... before you get too carried away with making changes to the values on those sheets ... I have found that I can do almost everything I need to do without ever needing to touch those very-hidden worksheets.
What I use mostly are the API functions.  Some of these are listed in the BW documentation.  But, there are about as many API functions that are NOT documented.  To find the API functions ... in the VB Editor, select the BW Analyzer object ... SAPBEX(sapbex.xla).  Then, select on the VE Editor menu bar, select View >> Object Browser (F2).  Change the Library to SAPBEX (this does not work unless you have already selected the SAPBEX oject).  In the Classes column, scroll down to xBEXapi.  You will now see listed all of the API functions and subroutines.
The Object Browser tells you ALMOST everything you need to know.  Most people need a few examples to get them started.  You can look at my postings here to find examples.  Or, just do a search on "SAPBEX".  Almost every hit will lead to a discussion and/or example of these API functions.
When you have more questions, write back.

  • Where are the calander files stored

I need to restore one or more Thunderbird calender files from my Windows back up. When in Thunderbird, click on properties for any calendar it states the location as
    moz-storage-calendar://
This tells me nothing. Exactly where IS moz-storage-calendar://
I have no idea where that is nor what the file names are. Where on earth are these calendar files located? I can not find them.

It does not matter: but Windows 7 does an automatic backup (back up and restore) and the backups are stored on an external hard drive. So that back up has the calender files since Thunderbird is part of the backup. All I need to know is where Thunderbird stores the calendar files. Both the backup and Thunderbird will store the calendar files in the same path name.
