iPhones, as is the case with most consumer electronics nowadays, are manufactured in China as a web search would have quickly turned up. I don't know what you mean by "software vendor partners".

It sounds like your microphone makes you sound muffled to people you talk to on the phone. For that issue, I would use the troubleshooting in the following article:
If your voice is too faint or sounds unclear using iPhone, or iPod touch
Test the microphone
To find out if there is an issue with the microphone itself—and not the app you're using or your cellular connection—test the microphone with the built-in Voice Memos app. Speak into the microphone and then play back the recording. You should be able to hear your voice clearly.
Fix common issues
Follow these steps, testing after each with Voice Memos.
Unplug anything plugged into the headset jack.
If you're on a call and holding your phone next to your ear, speak into the microphone and make sure you don't block it with your fingers or shoulder.
If you're using a screen protector or case that covers the microphone, remove it. Clear any debris from the microphones.
Restart your device.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
If you've tried these steps and people still can't hear you well on calls, contact Apple Support.

Are their any perfromancepatches for the 2.8ghz imac with AMD 2600 graphics

the graphics performance on my new 2.8 imac is slower than the 2.33 i bought 11 months ago.
I dont get this. if your trying to save money then at least use the last generation graphics chip vs installing a new poor performer like the 2600?

There are no downloads available for the iPhone as of yet. Come February there will be an SDK kit which will allow for 3rd party iPhone software.

iOS 6 can be loaded without problem on the 3GS. Not all features are supported however.
With respect to your reading people are having trouble, what did you expect to see on this technical support forum? People don't write in to state they have a trouble-free upgrade.

The apps you have purchased for your mobile device will not work on a computer. You will need to download the appropriate versions on your Mac from the Mac apps store.

I have downloaded every update and my battery life is better than any previous iPhone I have ever owned. I see posts from hundreds of people every day, and this is not a commonly reported problem. The iPhone HAS to be active making calls on the UK carrier network for the carrier to identify as "theirs" and therefore eligible for the Carrier to unlock
The way to achieve this is to use a PAYG sim making and receiving calls to establish a customer relationship with the Carrier and then follow the Carrier's process to unlock
With a PAYG it usually means adding a specified (by the carrier ) amount usually £15 /£20 depending on the carrier
This is how O2 function and according to Gemma this is how Vodafone work

It can't be deleted, it's been moved to another page where you most likely can't see/find it, so do this: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout...see if you see it now.
