Where can content be stored?

Question

A multi-part question, but I'll try to keep it simple.
In a previous post, I asked how I might have quick access to my own media in Motion. I was told to put that media here: It's not in root, it's in User > Libary > Application Support > Final Cut Studio > Motion > Library > Favorite
That has worked great, but now I'm running out of space on my hard drive and I'm thinking I'd like to move this media to another internal drive.
1) Is there a way to have all this extra content on another drive and still access it in the "Favorites" in Motion?
2) What about all of Motion's other content? Can that be moved to a different drive or will Motion only look for those things on my boot drive?
As I was sorting out where everything is, I confirmed that all of my personal content is in this Favorites folder in my User directory. However, all the other folders in that library folder (Behaviors, Content, etc.) are empty. I discovered that everything else is actually in the Motion library on my boot drive.
3. Why do I have all these empty folders in my User library? Can I get rid of them?

Yes, if you want that double level of protection that having both a clone and a backup give you, and you move your user directories to a separate drive, you'll need an additional external drive. I probably confused you with my statement about benefits regarding cloning and backups since you already do both. The benefit I was referring to about confining the boot drive to the OS and applications is that you can keep an up to date clone (using, e.g., CCC) of the boot drive and there isn't a real need for a separate incremental backup (excluding peace of mind!) since the data on that drive is not changing frequently. And for the other drives then, keeping a clone is not as critical, so they can be handled with incremental backups onto an external drive. That's kind of clean way to do things.
Anyhow, the details of all this get a little off topic for a Motion forum - everyone has their own view of the best way to handle backups and it depends a lot on how time critical your work is -so is different for everyone. But the discussion here is related to your original question of can you move your user content and favorites to a different drive (Yes. One way at least is to correctly move the user folders to a different drive), so it's all good.
