Where can I ask question re TABLET for my specific needs; question/info ready to send but to where?

My guess is this in not the proper place to ask this. Can you please suggest where I might more appropriately do so? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions you can offer.
I have spent quite a while now, going from site to site, trying to get info on how to figure out what tablet I should get that would be able do what I want ... or forget it, if not possible.
I need a tablet to: Be Very, Very, Very, Easy to Learn to Use
Read BOTH ePUB & pdf e-Books -most are ePUB I use EPUBReader]
Listen to audiobooks & music [mp3, m4a]
Watch downloaded Videos [flv, mp4 & wmv]
Use FireFox or just skip the whole browser thing
Transfer all above from my computer to the tablet, EASILY
ALL above downloads were FREE & that remains necessary
7" - 8"; 16 or 32GB if microSD cannot be used
I do not need: Social Media, Networking, Blogging or File Sharing
Camera - to take Pictures or my own videos
Phone access
Check e-mail via the tablet
I have a WiFi modem at my computer which is running Windows 7, 64-bit OS.
I really don't actually want a Tablet; I just want a portable that will allow me to do the above & only a tablet seems a possibility??? Errr ... while price IS of significant importance, neither the bottom nor anywhere near the top of the line will be considered at all.

There are two major tablet operating systems, iOS (Apple) and Android (most others). If Apple products are too pricey for your needs, you could ask for recommendations on an Android forum. For example: http://forums.androidcentral.com/

What is the problem specifiaclly?
If the images are intended for web use I would recommend converting them to sRGB which could be done with Edit > Convert to Profile or with File > Save for Web, but as including a Save step in Actions and applying them as Batch can sometimes cause problems I would go with regular converting.
You could also try Image Processor Pro.

I'm having the same problem with my 4S. I have to constantly reboot my iMac or turn off my phone a few times to get it to sync. Before when I had 5.1.1 everything seemed to work just fine. I'm sure its a bug......
Both my ipads running 5.1.1 have zero issues syncing via wifi or directly plugged in.

Don't ask why, 'cause it's demeaning for a grown man to break down and sob, but I've just had to copy/paste some text changes from a FM document (in-house source) to a .pdf (submitted by an external agency after they'd somehow massaged our content into InDesign) for the next round of updates. I observe that this copy/paste helpfully prefixes the actual content with a generous list of fonts.
I can (and did) cleanse the text with a textEditor wash – like mifWash but different – but just wondered if there is any light to be cast on this quirky mis-cooperation between FM and Acrobat?

I think FM has always picked up the "rich" content when you do a copy (that's why there's the Paste Special to allow you specify the content type, as well as the order of content type in the maker.ini ClipboardFormatsPriorities entry).
You could always try creating PDFs of the FM content and then copy&paste from PDF to PDF.

Where can I ask questions about manipulating LOBs?

I'm interested in finding best practices for working with LOBs. i.e. Optimization, when to avoid, how to get around them, etc. Some of our operations are very slow when it comes to LOBs.

Where can I download ibooks 1.1 for my mac? not my iphone or ipad but rather my desktop

Where is the ibooks 1.1 download link for the Mac? I found the links in itunes for the ipad and iphone but dont see the 1.1 ibooks links for my desktop. Anyone know where I can download this from? I need it to test an ibook that I am writing as the 1.01 version does not allow for testing of keynote presentations made in the latest version of keynote.

I think you need to install Yosemite someplace in order to have the latest version of iBooks.

How can I create a account, mainly for webmail, if I recently bought a Mac Mini but never situated it and am on vacation now without a Apple computer ?

I read ICloud has a program you can download to be able to use it for messages on a Windows machine but it still requires that you already established an account on an Apple device with Operating System 5 on higher and I prefer an option without installing anything to have easy access when going to a cyber or internet cafe. The ME site refers you to ICloud but that fails to help me.
My Mac Mini is basically new with a one year warranty with free support ( ??? ) and maybe I can call a technical support center but international calls could be costly from here so this is my last resort.
A Apple store is nowhere to be found in this country so I hope to gain as much advice as possible from here.

How can I override pop-up windows for a specific site?

In Firefox for Mac and Internet Explorer on a PC, you can turn off pop windows, but authorize specific sites to open a pop-up window. Is there a work around in Safari? The simple on/off switch (command-shift-k) is not adequate. I'd like to use just one browser, instead of using one for general surfing, and another for sites I log into that open various pop ups as I navigate.
Safari is fast, but at a functional cost.

Adblock keeps popping up as a suspect in Safari crash logs, so I'm a little nervous about it. Glims seems to have a better rep for Safari-friendliness and I believe it offers selective ad blocking:

You can also try the Camino. browser, From the Mozilla crew, it is Mac-only and much leaner and faster than FireFox. The interface is very close to Safari, unlike FireFox's rather Windows-centric approach. You can selectively block or allow both cookies and pop-ups. It's my backup browser and my wife's primary browser.

How can i refresh an SSL certificate for a specific page?

i am trying to access my electronic training jacket on Navy Knowledge Online to check the status of my security clearance. the ETJ page requires an SSL certificate. when i initially loaded the page the message window popped up prompting me to add the security exception and get the certificate. i got the certificate and continued to load the page but it came up with HTTP error 403.7 saying that i didn't have the certificate i needed. for some reason NKO isn't recognizing the certificate i got so i need to clear that certificate and get a new one that hopefully the server will recognize. how can i do this?

You can try to remove that certificate here:
Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Encryption: Certificates > View Certificates

How can I search the filter log for a specific string?

I have messages appearing in a sub folder named "2014". The main folder is called "Archives" . I do not know how they ended up there. I read through all my filters, but see nothing that sends messages to that folder. I scroll through the filter log and do not see the message subjects that end up in that folder.
Is there a way to use something like <edit><find> to look for a string?

A selected message will be moved to the Archives folder if you press the "A" key. Some people find this annoying, but it's possible to disable this, and other, keystrokes. http://gsfn.us/t/40hkd

Is the mac pro good for me (specific need)

I am looking for a computer to do a lot of number crunching and are having a hard time researching whether the 8 core mac pro will give the performance boost i hope.
We have an (C++) application that does intensive number crunching which we need to run multiple of times at the same time (eg. ~50 times) on win xp.
We currently run them on a quad core Dell system which works okay - but will the performance roughly double on the Mac Pro?
The question I'm really asking will the system spread the load across the 2 processors and their cores even though the application has not been built to utilise multi-processors?

The Mac pro has 2 processors each with 4 (quad) cores and therefore win xp pro should be fine.
The doc says win xp pro supports up to 2 processors and each can have dual core, but i imagine quad core is fine too (but probably wasn't around when the doc was written)

Word ducuments in different languages/dictionaries to Pages - for Lion will need to transfer files to Pages, but how to handle texts in different languages?

As Lion does no longer support 'Rosetta" I will need to import my WORD files. I am using several languages (E, D, F, I) and would like to also write/check the texts before sending. I have not found any way to do this in Pages. Have I overlooked something? Thanks for guidance. Gottfried

I guess that you would get better results with libreOffice which is really designed to clone Office which is not the case for iWork.
