Where can I buy a used apple laptop

Hello!
My 12 year old son is saving up to purchase an apple laptop / MacBook. But making money at his age isn't that easy. So I suggested maybe looking into a used / refurbished MacBook. Does anyone know if this is something that can be purchased through Apple? If not, where can we start looking?
Thanks!
Stef

Take a look at MegaMacs http://www.megamacs.com/
Be aware though that they offer different "grades" of refurbs, some are much more used than others.

  • Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro?

Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro? There are used batteries on ebay that don't appear genuine. There are some third-party knock offs. The apple store seems to believe they can replace it, but I have to make a reservation at the silly Genius Bar just to have them tell me how much it's gonna cost, not to mention then likely wait for them to order the battery and install it. I'm perfectly capable of installing it myself. I just need to know where I can order it?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Yeah, that's what I've finally decided. I was kidna super frustrated because the first apple store I called wouldn't even tell me a price or tell me if they could replace the battery without a Genius Bar appointment, and as I would have to take off work and drive acros town--and I don't have a car so I'd have to borrow one--that was pretty annoying. That call left me pricing linux laptops. I called another store to see if I'd have better luck, and the initial answer was the same, but the girl relented under some trying-to-be-nice-but-clearly-annoyed pressure, and she gave me the answers I needed: yes, they should have the battery in stock and it should be a same-day replacement that should cost $179.
It just *****, really, because there's so much about Apple that I used to love, and I'm watching it kinda melt away under their success in the mobile market. As a professional user, there's less and less reason to stick with them. Instead of being the best they can be, I feel like they're just trying to be flashier and just a little better than the other mediocre computer companies. Ugh. Anyway, now I'm ranting.

  • Where can I buy a genuine Apple replacement battery A1280

As above, where can I buy a genuine A1280 replacement battery for my Macbook Aluminium Unibody late 2008 5.1 notebook? Is it worth buying from a Battery UK company off the internet, or Amazon or eBay? (Have read various negative comments about using a non-Apple replacement).
If not where can I find a suitable one? I am in the UK.  Thanks Anne

    Hi,
    Go to this page
    http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/shop_mac/mac_accessories/power
Find the battery you want and the address of your nearest Apple Dealer or buy online.
    good luck,

  • Where can I buy a used iPad ?

I'm looking for a reputable place to buy and sell used Apple products.  I'm specifically looking for an iPad for my kids and an iPhone4 (without Siri) and do not want to go to eBay.  Is there an Apple trading post online somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Karen

I agree with Bobbi, with apples remanufactured items you are still elegiible for apple care on those devices; unlike any other third party resellers.

  • Where can I buy appleworks for my blueberry laptop??

I have a blueberry laptop apple ibook. I got it second hand. Everything works great. I just dont have the apple works program. My laptop is running mac os 9.2 where can I buy a compatible apple works program? also is this upgradable to a more recent internet explorer? where can I get a battery for cheap??

You need at least 256MB RAM to run Mac OS X on your computer, and you may need to customize the installation and turn off unnecessary components.
After installing more RAM, you should purchase and install a Mac OS X 10.3 retail installation package; you can get one from this site. Mac OS X 10.2 and earlier will be significantly slower, and installing Mac OS X 10.4 will be tricky; doing so requires that you exchange the DVD for CDs and the use of XPostFacto.

  • Where can i buy iphone 4s

Where can i buy an used or refurbished iphone 4s for around 250-300$ unlcoked. Please tell me any reliable website to buy it.
    Thank you.

The only reliable place to purchase an iPhone is from Apple or an authorized iPhone reseller or from someone you know personally and can trust. From anywhere else you will, as Lawrence indicated, be taking a major risk of getting a hacked and/or stolen iPhone.
    Regards.

You can't buy anything. Points are available in all countries, but again you cannot buy anything.

You said you would pay any price for Siri. You want Siri, it's $700.

  • I was having problems burning DVDs' fro iDVD and it turned out my burner is at fault I have a 27 inch iMac using a OPTIARC DVD RW AD-5680H. Where can I buy a replacement in UK?

I was having problems burning DVDs' from iDVD and it turned out my burner is at fault.
I have a 27 inch iMac using a OPTIARC DVD RW AD-5680H. Where can I buy a replacement in UK? I have seen these with SATA is this the correct cable for my mac?
I have also tried the Mac superdrive but my imac wont recognise it as it's been configured for macbook air and mini mac. I know I can "make" it work by doing something or other in com.apple/plist, but dont want to mess about in there.
I'm also told an external drive would work but does "mac compatible" mean only for air and mini as their own superdrive is or all macs?
Any help appreciated before I convince myself mac is no better than windows pc!

Thanks but this didn't really help.
I can buy the drives at a dozen places but none of them seem to know what connection is correct (SATA etc) and that includes the apple store. It was the store who told me buy the superdrive and all my problems would be over. Wrong! It isn't recognised by imac as it's confifured for air and mini mac. Only way to make it work is as i said in earlier post. (Would you be happy buying a car you were told would start and then discover you have to open the bottome and fiddle to make it go?)
The apple store I would not even consider taking it to. Days without the pc, over priced and don't have a good reputation for actually fixing things!
    But thanks

  • Where can I buy a larger hard drive for my late 2008, 15" macbook pro?  From reviewing questions and answers on the support community it would appear that having Apple remove the old and install the new hard drive is recommended.  But how/where?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install the new hard disk yourself if you want to. You just need a 2'5" SATA II hard drive, which is compatible with your MacBook Pro. You can buy one at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ You can filter hard drives by computer, so press a "Click to view all...", choose your computer in the sidebar and it will give you the compatible hard drives.
There are different brands for the MacBook Pro. The most recommended are HGST and Seagate, which have good reputation. A 7200 rpm hard drive will give you extra performance

  • I need to connect I-Mac G5 to HDMI TV, I think I need this: Video Out: mini-VGA (mirror only) to HDMI, where can I buy? Apple Bluewater no help.

I need to connect I-Mac G5 to HDMI TV, I think I need this: Video Out: mini-VGA (mirror only) to HDMI, where can I buy? Apple Bluewater no help.

VGA is an analog signal HDMI is digital. A simple cable would not work you would need something that converts the analog signal to digital.
A search of VGA to HDMI turned up a few possibilities but nothing specific. In any case the picture on the TV will not be very good given the source.
You should check to see if the TV has a VGA input. Some TV's have a computer connection port and this is usually VGA.
