I will go to the other countries in future for business so i wonder if I can buy an unlocked iphone which can be used by inserting SIM card directly since locked iphone can't be used in the other countries? Or can I get offical tech unlocking for my iphone so that it can work in the other countries? Thanks for reply.

Officially unlocked iPhones are not sold in Canada. You could buy one in a country where they are sold unlocked, then use it in Canada with a Fido or Rogers SIM. The countries that sell them unlocked are listed here:

It may not be easy to buy, though, as they may require a local address, or payment with a debit or credit card issued in their country. Also, the warrantee is valid only in the country of sale. Even if you do get an unlocked iPhone, it may be difficult to get a local SIM in some countries (such as Japan or Korea). Things are easier if you know a resident of the country who is willing to buy the phone or SIM for you.
You can use a locked Canadian iPhone in other countries but they charge high roaming fees for voice, and exorbitant roaming fees for data. Data roaming can be disabled in "Settings" > "General" > "Network".
Fido and Rogers have some international plans that will reduce roaming fees a bit. Check with them before you leave.

My friend is on Orange, his contract has ended and he is upgrading to the iPhone 4S. I want to buy his iPhone 3GS and use my pay monthly 3 sim card in it.
He has spoke to Orange, paid £20 and is having the phone officially unlocked, he will recieve an email in 28 days, once done he needs to put my simcard in the phone, connect to his itunes and put the code in which will unlock it.
Can I then have the phone and sync it on my itunes on my computer or is it forever locked to his itunes?
Does this sound right or am I missing something?

You can only purchase an unlocked GSM iPhone online in the US from the online Apple Store. You will need a US-issued credit card; the US Apple Store will not accept non-US credit cards. The GSM portion of the Verizon-model iPhone is unlocked and so could be used with a Bermudan carrier, but I don't know Verizon's sales terms.

You can pay full retail now and then unlock with Verizon's permission later. It's only for international use if it's like the 4s. Only atat has unlocked phones from apple because it's gsm not CDMA. Is straight talk gsm or is it CDMA? I am not an expert.

One of the Verizon representatives confirmed that the phone will be locked for a year to Verizon (ALLSET plan is the one I want to go ahead with and they said I can) and then I can request for it to be unlocked. I will definitely be here in the US for at least another year. So even if I return to Dubai after that, the device should be unlocked so that I can use it there with my local SIM card. I have confirmed with them that it is a GSM device. However, when I spoke to another representative, he told me that it is factory unlocked and I got confused because two different representatives from the same company are giving me two different answers.
I can wait for iPhone to release the unlocked version of the phone but their representatives are not too optimistic about the date so I am very confused at this point and would appreciate any help.

Only T-Mobile sells them. But you cannot unlock it until you have used the T-Mobile service for at least 40 days. The phone may be off-contract, but it is not unlocked. Don't expect one from Apple until next year sometime, maybe.
