Where can I find a g5 iMac startup disk?

Recently, I decided to sell my old iMac G5, as I don't need it anymore, as i have a new mac... I realized that I needed to wipe the memory before I could sell it, so I inserted the installation CD into the Mac, and went through the stages, selecting to completely erase all the memory at that stage... Afterwards, I told it to re install the original OS X onto it again, and I thought I would have done with it... HOWEVER, after a while, the Mac told me that there was a fault with the disk and I should try again... When i did, the same thing happened again, and the time after that... So now, I have a mac that is completely wiped of any software, so I can't even open it as I used to, AND it won't install any software, so it can't - it seems - ever be opened again.
The only soloution it seems I can find is to track down another pair of installation CDs, So where could I find one/order one from??? Please bear in mind I live in the UK.
Thanks in advance,
Matthew.

I have those and I don't need them, but I live in Finland.
These are for the first revision with GeForceFX 5200 graphics:

  • I want to run apple Hardware Test but can't find it on any CD's.  I bought my iMac in 2009.  I think it had 10.4 installed.  It's not on my installation disk.  Where can I find it?

I want to run Apple Hardware Text but can't find it on any CD's.  I bought my iMac in 2009.  It came with 10.4.  Apple Hardware Test is not on the installation disk.  Should I have it?  Where can I find it?  I"m now running 10.7.4.

    The disc plainly state:
To  use the AHT, hold down the D key as the computer starts up.
Works here. However, there was an issue with installing Lion that screwed this process up.
Mount disc 2, run this command in the Terminal app, OPTION-click & hold Finder's Dock icon, and select RELAUNCH:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 1
    That unhides all hidden files/folders.
Now, drill down to /"Applications Install\ Disc"/System/Library/CoreServices/ and drag the .diagnostics folder into your Lion boot volume's /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder. That might require you to authenticate to copy the folder into the CoreServices subfolder.
Run this command to hide the normally hidden files/folders and RELAUNCH the Finder again.
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 0
This should allow the machine to boot into AHT when restarting and holding down the D key.
If that doesn't do the trick, run this command in the Terminal app:
    sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/CoreServices/.diagnostics
At the Password: prompt, carefully type in your admin password, since nothing shows up on the screen, and hit the return key. Then, try another restart, holding down the D key.

You can go strait to SL, all you need is a retail SL DVD available from Apple for $20. The US online store has them at:

  • Where can I find a startup disk for Powermac 7600?

When I tried to boot my powermac 7600 i received the '?' icon in the center of the screen.  So I thought I would try to boot from the startup disk.  Uh-Oh, I seem to have lost my startup disk to my powermac 7600.  Where can I find a start up disk?  Or is their another way around the issue?

A Disk Tools PPC file can be found via Apple's Older Software Downloads list (http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html).
    http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English -North_American/Macintosh/System/Mac_OS_8.1_Update/Disk_Tools_PPC.img.bin
A floppy from the above file should work as a startup disk for your computer (it is intended for Mac OS 8.1 and Mac OS Extended, but it should at least allow you to boot the 7600). However, the problem is that you would have to locate someone with another old (pre-1998) Macintosh computer with Disk Copy 6.3.3 (the Make a Floppy command under the Utilities menu) in order to create the floppy.

  • Where can I find a logic board for iMac G5 17" (EMC No. 1989) Apple Part

HI  Where can I find a logic board for iMac G5 17" (EMC No. 1989) Apple Part #: 661-3290, 661-3351?

    Thanks--makes life easier!
I found DV Warehouse has a number of G5 logic boards but none had the exact model number:
    http://www.dvwarehouse.com/iMac-G5-Logic-Board-c-4771.html&pltid=05fedd9f246e2a1 dbc9f35cd6712e781
They have a toll-free number. You could ask if another board # would be compatible.
Another option is to contact recylers or schools shucking off older gear. Using the enigma of " A used computer is worth more parted out," you might be able to pick up another G5 cheaper than its LB. Unless the LB had the dreaded "leaky capacitor" failure, most computers don't get discarded for a bad LB.

  • HT1349 Where can I find the antivirus software of my IMAC?

WHERE can I find the antivirus software of my IMAC?

There is none. It's already built-in to the OS. You do not need to install any third-party AV software.

  • Have iMac running OSX 10.5.8, where can I find the upgrade?

have iMac running OSX 10.5.8, where can I find the upgrade?

Why would that be irritating?? I suspect you are after Mavericks, in order to get Mavericks you have to have the Mac App Store app which did not become available until Snow Loepard 10.6.6. Once you have purchased and installed SL then install the 10.6.8 combo update, run Software Update again and install all suggested updates and finally you can get Mavericks.

I am still on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and do not have iCloud in my System Preferences. I have registered with iCloud online and backed up my iphone5 last night to my iMac. Where can I find the backup on my iMac?
Below is what comes up when I sign into iCloud - where are all the other applications that I need to backup?
Appreciate any answers to this query?
    Rachel

Your question is unclear.  If you're backing up to your iMac, (via iTunes, with cable or WiFi), this has nothing to do with iCloud and the backup is stored on your iMac here:
    : ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

It turned out that WD is the big bad guy in this game.
According the data rescue company where I asked for an inspection, both of the drives had their reader head loose. And in the one, which was my already-in-use disk its even damaged the platters... xxxxx
So its time to pay bunch of money to recover, and take a walk to wd service to bang on the desk.
Also note - it may be somehow related to intellispeed technology - since macs not really friendly with wd-s built-in solutions.
On the other hand, with WD GP 1Tb there is no problems at all for ages.
    thanks guys, thread is closed

Should be the last menu option in OS X Main Menu Bar. Click on help and either use the available search box or select Mac Help for a list of topics.

I installed a game,Now I need to add some files however, I cannot find where iMac stores it.. where can i find the files and maps? where does iMac store this data?
    thx alot

Depends on game, i would look first on the game file itself, right click (or ctrl click) the game file you installed (Applications?) and select show package contents, its usually a application bundle, as in basicly a folder where the application and the required files and subfolders are.
