Where can I find a tutorial for Xcode 6.1.1. The only one I can find is for V5 and the tutorial does not seem to match? I am a complete newbie to Xcode.
I am looking to start learning Xcode from the ground up and happy to help myself using published tutorial.
At present the current Xcode in the App Store is V6.1.1

i have just reinstalled my mac os x, in fact yesterday, i have not been able to update my software or change anything at all, i try to do a software update and it is asking me for an administrators username and password that was not happening before, i enter the username and password i created and it comes back wrong, its driving me nuts, been to keychain but unable to figure it out, its asking for a system unlock and i have no clue what that is.

a black screen with white type appears, when it's finished, dbackspace any extra ssss you have made and then type
ls /Users
(that's Larry, Sam, space, slash, Users)
and press return, a list of user names on the machine appears
type exit and reboot and use the 10.6 disk to reset your password -

Want my JFrame to be the *only* one that can end the program when closed
Hi all,
I have an application that is essentially a launcher for other applications -- it's a holder to allow us to demo our work and other Java examples (not necessarily our work). The launcher will either run methods to launch an application or will find a class's main method and invoke that.
In all cases, the other applications open up their own JFrames, separate from my launcher (this is a good thing). The problem is that, in general, the other JFrames are set to EXIT_ON_CLOSE. This means that if the user closes the second window, everything will close.
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? I'd like either a way to say that my JFrame is the only one that can exit the program when closed, or to say globally that JFrames can't exit on close, and then re-work my initial frame so that it is still able to exit.
Note that changing all the other applications so that they do not include the EXIT_ON_CLOSE line is not an option (several of the applications we have the right to use, but not the right to modify, for instance).
Any thoughts?

Edit: I found I can use Frame.getFrames() instead, but unfortunately I've discovered this doesn't solve my problem. One of the applications is listening to window closing and is calling System.exit(0) itself, and is not using EXIT_ON_CLOSE as I previously thought. So I think that launching a new JVM may be the only option.... Any advice on how to do this? I'm a little stuck with the ProcessBuilder stuff above.

I guess I was thinking this as a process-oriented question (I had already been thinking of the "different JVM" tactic), but the other option was to think of it as a pure-swing problem, like your solution above. Guess I should have just cross-posted -- everyone loves that! ;-)

After updating my system to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I can no longer view videos on Facebook or other sites. The only one I can view videos on is youtube. I have downloaded Adobe Flash player and still no luck. I cannot even open Preview on my computer anymore. Any ideas would be helpful thanks
Merely clicking the Preview icon in the Dock doesn't cause it to open anything, unless you had one or more windows open the last time it quit.
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. I meet a lot of 3G signal when a call signal disappears 3G! I read the manuals and anything I find the problem! I do so with other brands and other cell does not, the same goes when I receive a call!
Who is your carrier? Are you actually on 3G?
Do you have 3G turned on or off? Settings > General > Network > Enable 3G -
I have a brand-new MBAir, but I actually noticed this starting many months ago, on my MBPro running Snow Leopard. I've repaired Permissions numerous times, run Onyx and performed all of the scans and checks (everything checks out fine), and otherwise have no problems at all with my system. It's just this constant need to relaunch the Finder, especially after downloading a dmg. In-between these episodes it seems to behave normally.
I though it was a Snow Leopard problem, and was hoping it would be gone with Lion, but, alas--no such luck.
I've searched through the discussions and support docs and haven't found anything similar--can I possibly be the only one with this weird issue? I've been a Mac User for over 20 yrs, and can't say I've ever seen this particular problem before....Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!OK, Tony--did that. I noticed that it had a creation date of 2009. Wouldn't a new OS create new plist files, or do all of the old ones just migrate over from the previous OS? Interesting....
Anyway, I'll just have to wait and see if it happens again--shouldn't have to wait too long--LOL. I'll post back with an update ASAP.

How to make sure I'm the only one who can manage my airport base station using airport utility?
I know we have to use the Airport Utility application to manage the Airport base station in order to create a new network, creating the SSID and chosing the encryption mode and setting the password but how I could be sure I'm the only one who have access to those settings? A user of my network can install the Airport Utility application and change those settings. With other routers like D-Link, to have access to the settings you need to know the admin password to modify the settings. I can't figure out how we can do this with Airport Extreme base station. It's maybe obvious but I'm in the cloud for the moment.
You can set a base station administrator password in order to limit who can administer the base station. With AirPort Utility v6.x, you can set this password on the Base Station tab.

Can I set a password, so that I am the only one who can delete the viewing history?
I have a teenage boy, and he keeps browsing adult web pages; is there a way to set a password on the history content, so that I am the only one allowed to delete the content? I would like to know what my son is looking at before he erases the content.
To set a passcode for your iPad, go to General > Passcode Lock, then tap On or Off. Is that what you're looking for?

So, I have an OS X 10.7.5 and I want to get a gaming keyboard, but the only good ones I can find are for windows. I know because they have the Windows home key button, and no FN button or Command button. Any suggestions?
Normally, most Windows-compatible keyboards are also compatible with Mac OS X. If I'm not mistaken, the Windows key (the key with the Windows icon) is the command key. Also, if you do need to use the F1-F12 keys as standard function keys (you would normally hold FN and then press the button), you can set them to standard function keys in System Preferences. There may be some good gaming keyboards on the market that use the Mac layout, but most may use a Windows keyboard. Personally, I prefer the Mac keyboard on my Macbook. I hope this helps!

i was all happy with my iphone 4 suddnly in games the game center massage said "welcome Sharon1122" ***Sandbox*** (its was suppost to say welcome Sharon2018 but i didnt noticed that but i saw that "sandbox" there)
i didnt care at the begining then i found out that all my achievments are saved on this "Sharon1122 sandbox" account and all my friends and achievments on other account....
i tried to logout and login and its worked agian on my account (with all my freinds and achievments i had like 2XXXX achievments)
i thought everything was ok until i started to play a game and it always said that im not connected to game center and ask me for my apple id and my password
i put my password and agian it logged to the Sharon1122 "Sandbox" account that i really have NO idea where he came from!
after alot of tries and looking for a solution on the internet i coudnt play a game with my Sharon2018 regular account
i was really upset so i tried to go into gamecenter when its logged to the "sandbox" account and change the name and password (which i do remember the password that i changed) and also changed the email to stuff that i dont remember i just write like name:adsoj email:[email protected]
cause i didnt care about that account i wanted my account so i changed everything and then i logged out and tryed to go into my regular Sharon2018 account put my Apple ID and password and its said that its not vaid (i think this sandbox account and my account was somehow linked togther)
so it means i changed also my password and id and not only that! it also changed for the appstore itunes icloud find my iphone

Apple new magic trackpad: Am I the only one who can't pinch zoom?
I'm tryung to zoom in or out using the pinch gesture in indesign CS5
it works fine on the built in trackpad of my laptop (10.5.8) but on the magic trackpad paired to my new Imac i5 (10.6.4) it doesn't.

If I happened to have a working printer at the moment I think I'd put one of those pre-signed things on the door. Of course if it's a new driver, as seems to happen frequently, they'll have to call first since they can never find me anyway (I've tried to correct Google maps but the corrections never stay...the funny thing is before Google maps they never had a problem it was easy enough to figure out there was only one house with a number that high, the next closest house being like the equivalent of a block and a half away, but now if its not on the map it can't exist). And yes I've tried putting various signs with the address down on the road but with the high winds, heavy snows, snow plows etc. they never last long or just aren't noticed even when painted in bright red . OK are you asleep yet??? No, okay well then let me again thank Apple for not doing Saturday delivery which isn't available here. That do the trick? Sorry don't know how to be more boring. I'm the only one who can submit PDF by e-mail!
OK so I created this form, and I made the button to submit the PDF not the XML, and it worked great. For me.
The e-mail recipient tells me when anyone else tries to submit the form, the button changes color but nothing else happens. No e-mail window pops up. He said he has Outlook set up as his e-mail client, same as I do. He's not using webmail.
Of course it makes it more difficult that *I* have no problem submitting it!
Do you know the problem? You can see the form at http://yamhill.ucsd.edu/tps/pdfs/charter_form.pdf. If you try to submit it, just put "test" in a field, maybe "did you recieve this?" It won't go to me but the recipients will tell me whether they got anything.
I swear, they made this program WAY trickier than it should be. I hope future versions make this easier because judging from the forums, e-mail submission is a major issue for almost everyone.

Hello. I made a partition a while back for Yosemite. Now, I have two partitions. The Yosemite one and the other one that I made smaller and changed the name to Erase so that its easier. I need more space on my Yosemite one. How can I Make the Yosemite Partition have all of the memory. I hate that I know I have like 900 gigs lurking around my iMac that I can never use. Please help. Apple....somebody....
Erase the large partition. Clone the small volume to the large volume. Boot from the large volume. Delete the small volume then extend the large volume to the full size of the disk.
Drive Erase for Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select the volume you wish to erase from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Clone Yosemite, Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
1. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
2. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
3. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
to the Destination entry field.
4. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
the Source entry field.
5. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the large volume. Source means the small volume.
When you finish select the Startup Disk from the Apple menu. Set the top volume as your startup volume. Click on the Restart button. -

I have Premire Pro CS4 4.1.0 installed on my Mac Pro.
Mac Pro 2 Quad Core 2.4Ghz CPU with 6GB RAM and 1TB SATA Hard drives.
Screaming fast system.
I have a Sony HDR-SR8 AVCHD camera. I imported the video. When I put the video on the timeline and play it, the video is not at the best resolution. It is a bit choppy. Don't know why. Nobody seems to have this problem except me.
I did an import at 1080 60i. I also tried 50i. Both provide the same results.
I then took an SDHD card to best buy. I took some test video on their 1920x1080i camera. Brand new. Brought the SDHD card home. Imported the video. Same thing.
Video looks choppy.
I read all the posts and nobody else has the same problem?
I don't know what else to do.
HELP.I did choose the format that the camera shoots in. My point that I was trying to make (although I didn't do a good job of explaining it) was that no matter what format I choose for import, the results are the same.

and adobe states: Adobe tests a large variety of camcorders during development and has found that most DV camcorders work in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 with no problems.
but there is a list with only a few cameras.
The file imported is 1920x1080.
To import I went to the media browser and found the MTS files. I then dragged them to into the project. Isn't that how you import the files? If I am doing something wrong, please advise.

Install Lion on three computers as license permits? How???
