Choose Computer from the Finder's Go menu, control-click the internal drive, and select Get Info. Alternatively, open any folder on it, and if needed, choose Show Status Bar from the View menu.

  • Where can I see how much space mac mail is taking on my hard drive?

I have a gmail, yahoo mail and icloud mail that I access on Mac Mail.  Does it take up much space on the HD?  I'm assuming they are all stored on the web servers but where do I look on the Mac to find what space they are taking up on my Mac?

In the Finder, hold the Option key and then choose Library from the Go menu. Then locate the folder called "Mail," and get information on it and note the calculated size. In addition, do the same for the Mail Downloads folder, and these two should constitue the majority of the space used by Mail and its configured accounts.

  • Where can i find how much ram my computer can use?

I looked in the "about my mac" section, no info on max ram. I have a 2.33 intel core 2 duo. 15 inch.

I usually use this memory finder at crucial.com
Just choose Apple from the list of manufacturers, macbook pro for the product line, and then your specific model under model.

how can i see how much space is left before i burn a cd?  My old OS showed it at the bottom of the window, but loin doesn't have it anymore.

Mine are showing (hence the choice to "hide" them).

  • Can you monitor how much space the site takes up?

I'm building my website and I don't have server space yet. Before I buy some, I want to know how much space my site would take up on said server.
I'm probably going to host my videos elsewhere, but I have a lot of photos on the site and I don't know if iWeb automatically reformats them to be smaller files. If it doesn't, those pictures will add up.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Publish the site to a folder, and then check how much space the folder takes up in the Finder.
