Where can I find old emails in Time  Machine?

Just need to find an older email in time machine. Where can I find it? i.e in which folder etc.
Thanks heaps.
Gerard

Bring the Mail browser window forward, then enter Time Machine. Scroll back in the time-travel view to the most recent snapshot containing the messages you want to restore. Select the messages, then click Restore. The messages will be restored to a new mailbox. From there you can move them wherever you like.

In the Finder I can find my pictures after right-clicking IPhoto and then under Originals. But when I open Time Machine and want to check if my data have been backuped correctly I can find my music and documents but not my Pictures. Where can I find them?

Open iPhoto and select Browse Backups from the File menu. iPhoto's library is stored in the /Home/Pictures/ folder.

Hi, I never use TM, but...
Have you looked through Pondini's extensive TM help site?

Can't imaging something not being covered there.

  • Where can I find old version for ipad

cuz my ipad is not update,
i want to use old version.
    where can i find it?

Apple does not distribute older versions of apps. They are not available from the App store and you cannot install apps from other sources unless you are a developer. If previously had an older version in a backup you can restore an older version from your backup.

  • HT201320 i have set up my email on have (7) messages on the mail icon but when i press it the home screen comes up to set up a new email.  Where can i find the emails that have been downloaded...again, it shows that i have 7 new emails??

I have set up my email on the iphone.  On the mail icon it shows that i have 7 new emails.  When i press the icon the set up home screen comes up....gmail, yahoo, aol, etc.  where can i find the new emails that have been downloaded??

Google stopped supporting Exchange for free accounts as of 1/31/13. If you already had it set up that way on the device, it will continue to work. However, if you didn't, you'll need to set it up as a regular Gmail account.

  • Where can I find an email address for Verizon customer service?

I would like to send an email to Verizon outlining my opinion of their website and how it might be improved, but I can't find an email address.  When I asked the representative, she directed me to the "Contact Us" tab.  There I found a postal address!

There is no email address only a postal address.  You can try to call CS, but they have no idea what the website does or is, or how to push opinions or concerns up the line.  If you go a regional executive route, you might get a call, but they are not familiar with website operations or even know who to send your issue to.  Perhaps one of your improvement ideas is something we can assist you with, in case it was something missed or we know another way to accomplish what it is you're trying to do.

  • Where can I find old firmware for a Muvo TX

Well... I installed the new firmware from the site and now my player is dead. Where can I find older firmware? Or could anyone be so nice as to upload it to a temporary server (such as YouSendIt)? Thanks.

    Alright, found it:

This site has links to (I think) all of the Muvo TX FM firmwares released. Even though the site isn't in English.

  • Where do i find mail on a time machine copy

where do i find lost mail on a time machine copy

When you open Finder and then from the Time Machine Icon in the menu bar hold the option key and Browse Other Backup Disks. then ⇧⌘G, then ~/Library/Mail/V2, you're not seeing the folder with your old emails? (don't open TM from Mail)
If you see your old mail, then this may be a long-way, but....
    BACKUP your current email
Log into the Guest Account (->System Preferences->Users & Groups)
Open Finder, then from the Time Machine Icon in the menu bar hold the option key and Browse Other Backup Disks. then ⇧⌘G, then ~/Library/Mail/V2 and restore the V2 Folder
Now start Mail and set up your accounts (all your emails from the TM should be restored)
You can then Mail->Mailbox->Export Mailbox and save to your Desktop (do this with each Mailbox)
Copy these exported mailboxes to a USB drive
    Log into your regular account.
    Open Mail and File->Import Mailboxes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't see old backups on Time Machine

Originally, I noticed the issue when I went to do a backup and it failed because there was not enough space on the disk. Then I went to see if I could delete old backups.  In Time Machine it shows today and one other backup, 6 days ago.  It should be doing backups regularly.  I have had the iMac and my external drive for years.  I did update to Mavericks OS several months ago.  That is the only change I can think of.  I have seen older backups and used them before now.  Not sure why I can't see them anymore and why it says my disk is full.  Why isn't it deleting the old backups if it's full?
So I guess I have three main questions:
1 Why can't I see the old backups?
2 Why aren't the old files being deleted if it's full?
3 How can it be full if there is only one backup?
    Thanks

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes.) You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard."
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the timestamp of the last "Starting" message that corresponds to the beginning of an an abnormal backup. Now
CLEAR THE WORD "Starting" FROM THE TEXT FIELD
so that all messages are showing, and scroll back in the log to the time you noted. Select the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ If all you see are messages that contain the word "Starting," you didn't clear the text field.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • How do I get old emails from Time Machine into a new Mail?

I have (I hope) email data in Time machine as of April 8  which I can't figure out how to get into my newly reinstalled version of Mail.
I took over my brother-in-law's iMac on April 8, and closed his User ID, saving it in a .dmg file.  Now that he has a new computer, he would like his old emails, so I reactivated his user ID, and reinstalled his email accounts in Mail as of May 27.  When I look at the Time Machine Backups drive, there is a data folder for April 8, but when I open my newly re-installed Mail and click on Time Machine it only goes back to May 27.
Is there a way to get at the April 8 data?
    Thanks,
    jrguest1

I set up an admin account for myself, logged on to it, and then followed the procedure in the help file to delete his account, saving it as a .dmg file.  Then, when he asked for his old emails, I followed the procedure in the help file to restore a deleted user account and copied the contents of the .dmg into it.
I'm not entirely confident I got the restoration sequence right, since I find the order of steps in the help file confusing. But everything except the Mail data seems to be recovered.
Another source of trouble may be the email account settings:  when I opened Mail under his log-on, there were no accounts set up: I recreated them using his email address and password, but Mail may well be treating these as new accounts, rather than re-opened old accounts.
    Thanks, John

  • Find particular email with Time Machine

I need to find a singular email that has disappeared.  All I can recall is the sender's address, but I am not able to enter that as search in Time Machine.  Even when I have the search box in Mail filled and the current results of that search showing, if I start Time Machine, it does not carry that search term into TM.  How do I find that lost email?

Probelm is, I don't remember the subject line. I remember the subject but not the title. Do you have any other techniques? Becasuse Time machine did no let me put in some sample text, or the subject.

  • Extracted Time Capsule Disk – Can't See Old Backups in Time Machine UI

    Hello,
I was one of the unfortunate souls that purchased a Time Capsule in March of 2008, only to have its power supply die last month. Instead of buying a new one, I decided to take out the hard drive and attach it to an Airport Extreme.
The first few steps went fine: opened the TC, got the drive out, put it in a new case and hooked it up. Once I had it mounted, I told Time Machine to do a backup. And it did. And it was merely an incremental one. I was optimistic.
However, now when I "enter the Time Machine," I can only see the latest state ("Today/Now").
I'm wondering if anyone has an experience successfully extracting a TC drive, or if anyone has encountered my specific problem before. The fact that the backup action recognized the existing backups has me hopeful that there's simply some arcane preference somewhere that will make the Time Machine UI recognize everything properly. After all, the point of extracting the drive was so that I didn't have to start over.
    Thanks!

Ok, immediately after posting I read Pondini's "Time Machine - TROUBLESHOOTING" thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2057525) and found a solution in E2:
Also, sometimes TM will start a new "sequence" of backups, as if they were from a different Mac.
To see these "other" backups, you need the (badly named) Browse Other Time Machine Disks option. It's available by holding down the Option key while selecting the TM icon in your Menubar, or by control-clicking (right-clicking) the TM icon in your Dock.
You'll see a selection screen showing all the disks/partitions that have TM backups on them. Select the one you want, and you'll be taken to the normal TM "Star Wars" interface, where you should see all the backups on that disk/partition.
In my case, there was only the one disk showing, but when i selected it, all of my backups were visible.
I'm not going to mark this as "Answered" yet, because the regular "Enter Time Machine" menu option still does not work, as described above. But at least now I have a workaround to access the backups.
