• Where can I get slp.jar?

I want to register a JMX service with SLP. But it needs slp.jar. I can't find the file in the jmx directory. Where can I get it?
Thanks.

Hi,
If you're on Solaris SLP is already installed - see
man slp
man slpd
On my machine slp.jar is located at:
/usr/share/lib/slp/slp.jar
I believe the packages for Solaris are SUNWslpr and SUNWslpu.
You can try 'pkginfo | grep -i slp' to check whether they are installed.
Otherwise you can try http://jslp.sourceforge.net/ - I haven't tried it myself but their page says it should work with JMX/SLP examples, though you might need to tweak them a bit (using collections instead of vectors).
hope this helps,

• PI 7.11 - Where can I get the NEW java API's

Hi,
We use PI 7.0 in productive environment, but we plan a release update to PI 7.11. We have several Java Mappings for PI 7.0 with Java 1.4. So we have to upgrade this also to Java 1.5.
We are using following SAP Java libs:
- aii_map_api.jar
- aii_mt_rt.jar
- guidgenerator.jar
- sapxmltoolkit.jar
Where can we get the equivalent libraries of the PI 7.11 system. Are there new API's? Is there a documentation where to get this?

• Where can I get current info on SysAdmin Certification(s) for Mac OSX SL and Lion?

Where can I get current info on SysAdmin Certification(s) for Mac OSX SL and Lion? The Apple website for this is "under construction" for weeks now...
Thanks,
[email protected]

Certification test for OS X 10.7 Lion are not available yet. I assume they will be nearly identical to the test of 10.5 and 10.6. Hopefully, the reason the certification website has been down for a while is that they are updating it with the new information. Though I really wouldn't expect any 10.7 certification test to be available for 2-4 months. Peachpit Press didn't publish their training material for 10.6 until October even though 10.6 was released in August.
As far as the 10.6 Certifications:
Certified Support Professional, 10.6 requires the 9L0-403 exam.
Certified Technical Coordinator, 10.6 requires the 9L0-403 as well as the 9L0-510 (Server Essentials) exams.
The information for the Certified System Administrator, 10.6 is "hidden" on the integral7 website but according to this Wikipedia entry, you need to pass the 9L0-510 Server Essentials exam as well as these three:
Directory Services
Deployment
Security and Mobility

• Where can I get a compiler?

Where can I get a compiler that I can use that is like sun's but doesnt use an IDE?

This may duplicate some of what you've already done, if so fine. But please verify you've done exactly what is written or know why you shouldn't before proceeding. You may want to print these instructions before continuing.
To download the current version of Java, go here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html
and click on the word DOWNLOAD in the column labeled SDK in this line:
Windows (all languages, including English)
After downloading, click on this page of installation instructions and read through #6:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/install-windows.html
NOTE: If you are installing on other than a standard 32-bit Windows system, go to this page
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/install.html and choose the installation instructions for your system.
Install the software according to the preceeding instructions
Below is a Helloworld program, copy and paste it into your editor and save it as "HelloWorld.java" Use capitalization, Java is case-sensitive. If you're using Notepad, quote the name when saving, otherwise Notepad adds ".txt" to the name. Go to DOS/command window and check that you've got the file where you want it and that it's named correctly.
-------program HelloWorld.java--------
public class HelloWorld {
public static void main (String[] args) {
System.out.println("Hello World!");
In the same directory as HelloWorld.java, enter "javac" - the program should print out a list of options, if not, set your PATH - see below.
In the same directory as HelloWorld.java, enter "javac HelloWorld.java" and the javac compiler will create HelloWorld.class. If it was successful it will not give any messages. Check that the file is created.
In the same directory as HelloWorld.java, enter "java -classpath . HelloWorld" with the spaces and the period. The program will run.
Here is additional information:
The Windows path is a set of pointers that Windows uses to locate programs that you execute, like javac.exe and java.exe. This setting is explained here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/install-windows.html
Scroll down to: 5. Update the PATH variable
(you should have already done this as part of the Java installation)
The CLASSPATH is another set of pointers that is used by Java to find the files that you create and want compiled and/or run. This setting is explained here:
Setting the Classpath:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/tooldocs/windows/classpath.html

• Can't get matching xdb6.jar, xmlparserv2.jar and ojdbc6.jar

No matter what I try, they are always somewhat different and I'm getting exceptions with JDBC on either setSQLXML or on .getString() once I retrieved the SQLXML object and want to get the content back or I'm downright getting "oracle.xdb.XMLType cannot be cast to java.sql.SQLXML"
How is it possible that Oracle who owns Java and OracleDB can't make a working Java driver? I just want to be able to work with XML, I didn't know this was asking much. I have OracleXE installed.

All you have done is complain. That is basically the equivalent of a five year old saying 'Mommy, my tummy hurts'.

What did you try? You haven't posted ANY information about what you are even doing, what jars, tools or code you are doing it with or HOW you are doing it.

What exceptions? You haven't posted ANY exceptions or any of the code that caused those exceptions.
Retrieved WHAT SQLXML object? Retrieved from where? What is the full name and version of the database you are using? For Oracle that would be the 4 digit version as returned by 'SELECT * FROM V$VERSION'. Oracle DB doesn't have any SQLXML objects; it has XMLTYPE columns. Is that what you are trying to access?

Where did you get them from? How did you get them? How do you know that they don't match? What is the full name and version of the jars that you are using?
Have you used this functionality before? Do you know how to use it? If you have never used it and have no expertise with it we need to know that so we can tell you how to get up to speed so you can use it successfully.
Since you haven't provided ANY of the information needed to provide any specific suggestions all we can do is assume that you are using the last, current version of Java and all jars files and have never used the functionality. In that case you need to start at the beginning.

SQLXML Type
One of the most important updates in JDBC 4.0 standard is the support for the XML data type, defined by the SQL 2003 standard. Now JDBC offers a mapping interface to support the SQL/XML database data type, that is, java.sql.SQLXML. This new JDBC interface defines Java native bindings for XML, thus making handling of any database XML data easier and more efficient.
The oracle.jdbc.getObjectReturnsXMLType Property
In Oracle Database 10g and earlier versions of Oracle Database 11g, Oracle JDBC drivers supported the Oracle SQL XML type (XMLType) through an Oracle proprietary extension. XML values were represented by instances of the oracle.xdb.XMLType class and the SQL XMLType values were read and set through the JDBC standard getObject, setObject, and updateObject methods.
The JDBC standard requires the getObject method to return an instance of java.sql.SQLXML type when called on a SQL XML type column. But, the earlier versions of Oracle JDBC drivers return an instance of oracle.xdb.XMLType. This does not conform to the JDBC standard.
The current release of Oracle JDBC drivers conform to the JDBC standard with the introduction of a new connection property, oracle.jdbc.getObjectReturnsXMLType. If you set this property to false, then the getObject method returns an instance of java.sql.SQLXML type. You can achieve this by using the following command line option while compiling your program with javac:
-Doracle.jdbc.getObjectReturnsXMLType="false"
If you depend on the existing Oracle proprietary support for SQL XMLType using oracle.xdb.XMLType, then you can change the value of this property back to true by using the following command line option:
-Doracle.jdbc.getObjectReturnsXMLType="true"
The value of the oracle.jdbc.getObjectReturnsXMLType property is a String representing a boolean value of either true or false. If the value of this property is true, then the getObject method returns oracle.xdb.XMLType instances, when called for a SQL XMLType column. This is the deafault value of the oracle.jdbc.getObjectReturnsXMLType property. If the value of this property is false, then the getObject method returns java.sql.SQLXML instances. This is the standard JDBC-compliant mode.
Note:
The oracle.jdbc.getObjectReturnsXMLType property affects only the result of the getObject method. All other methods conform to the JDBC 4.0 standard regardless of the value of the property.
>
The exception that you are getting
>
oracle.xdb.XMLType cannot be cast to java.sql.SQLXML
>
is telling that the XMLType is NOT an SQLXML type so you can't use it as one. That doc section above should tell explain that those are two DIFFERENT types. You use one or the other depending on which version of the functionality you want to use. You can use the older 'non-JDBC' standard or the new 'JDBC' standard. But you can't mix the two.
Review that entire chapter of the doc and see if that helps.
If not then you need to provide ALL relevant information if you need more help:
1. Java version
2. DB name and version
3. JAR file names and versions
4. Java code that demonstrates the problem
5. EXACT copies of any and all exceptions and errors that occur
6. A description, in English, of what you are trying to do and how you are trying to do it.

• Where can I get more information on Cryptography Extension ??

Hi.
Does anyone know how to set up the Jarsafe product ?
Another thing is, how to set security for the Cryptography Extension ??
can anyone tell me where can i get more information on this ??
Thank you.

You need to download the JCE 1.2.1 that is available on the http://java.sun.com website. Once you download the software, you need to make the jar files available. It is easiest to place the JCE jar files in the extension mechanism folder since permission has already been granted, by default, to any code in that folder. That folder is JAVA_HOME\lib\ext on Windows. JAVA_HOME is where the Java Runtime Environment is installed.
When using JarSafe with Java Web Start, make sure that the JCE jar files are placed in the extension mechanism folder of the JRE that Java Web Start is using.

• Where can i get Oracle JDeveloper 9i Handbook exercise source code?

Hi
I'm studying JDeveloper 10g by read the book <<Oracle JDeveloper 9i Handbook >> which written by Peter Koletzke,Paul Dorsey and Avrom Faderman, Where can i get exercise source code? In chapter 13,I can't create the application module AccountantPromotionModule, who can help me or some idea?

Hi,
You can download source code for the 9i Handbook from either of the following websites:
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Peter_Koletzke
http://www.dulcian.com
Note that, if you're using Oracle JDeveloper 10g (rather than Oracle9i JDeveloper), you might be interested in the just-published Oracle JDeveloper 10g Handbook. Oracle JDeveloper 10g has some very significant differences from Oracle9i JDeveloper--especially the introduction of Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF)--and these are covered in the new book but not the old one.
If you do get the new book, you can download code for it (or rather, will be able to by the end of this week) from either of the above websites or from
http://avromroyfaderman.com
Hope this helps,
Avrom

• Where can i get WLInitialContextFactory classes

Hello all.
I am making a JMS application , however i am getting the error
Could not create JNDI API context: javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory [Root exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory]
Can anyone tell me where can i get the WLInitialContextFactory in weblogic server classses .

Hi,
WebLogic Server 10.0 and higher releases, client applications should use the wlfullclient.jar file to provide the WebLogic Server specific functionary previously provided in the weblogic.jar file. You can generate the wlfullclient.jar file for client applications using the JarBuilder tool.
This is a very powerful Jar file...which can be build using a Simple ANt Script: http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/02/03/building-wlfullclient-jar/
After making this Jar...Please add this Jar file on clients Classpath.
Thanks
