Maybe a silly question but here we go.

I'm reasonably certain the upgrade you found at that third party site would not work with your version.
But it looks like you still qualify for partial upgrade pricing through Adobe, it drops from $399 for the full version to $249 going from 5.0 to 6.0 (skipping 5.5)...

If you had 5.5, the price would only be $125 to upgrade through Adobe (that third party site is charging a little more than Adobe does for the same upgrade).

Is the upgrade from logic pro 7.1.1 to 7.2 still available out there somewhere? I know I'm a bit behind the rest of the world but financially I'm taking the 'do the best with what you can' route!
Never used logic before, moving up from garageband and cubase sx cos everyone says it's a better program.

If I remember correctly, the 7.2 update was a "Paid for" update, with a new dvd.... so you are most likely out of luck.

I am looking at ways to get an applet that is served by many servers to talk to a servlet at a specific server however to run a servlet at that server I need "servletrunner". Most docs say that I should find it in /bin directory, but for the life of me I can't find it anywhere, I searched at every directory it is not here, I searched inside the files I downloaded from sun.com it is not there. How can one get hold of such an "elusive" file???

servletrunner was the name of the program that ran servlets with Servlets 2.0. Anyway servletrunner has been obsolete for about 3 years. Most people use Tomcat to get started with servlets now. You can upgrade to PSE 7.0 for Vista and XP, however if you are a MAC user you will have to opt for PSE 6.0 as PSE 7.0 is not in market for MAC.

You have to purchase upgrades from one version number to another. The adobe upgrade is linked on the main product page for PSE, but it's usually silly to buy the upgrade because most of the time you can find the full version for less at big box stores and major online retailers if you aren't in a big hurry.

The deal-breaker may not be the processor but the lack of USB 2.0 on the older PowerBooks. Newer iPods require USB 2.0 and a 667mHz PBG4 has USB 1.1.
You can use a Cardbus adaptor to provide USB 2.0, like this:

These are getting harder to find as newer computers ship with USB 2.0 capability.
FWIW, I recently bought Leo by calling the Apple Store and installed in on a Powermac G4 1.25Ghz with 1.75G of RAM and a 64MB VRAM video card. It is not very limber compared to Tiger on the same machine, Even if you use the installer hack, I'm afraid you will have an mostly unusable computer.

I did get most stuff working -- curious why jar files were renamed to 'ja', they don't seem to be in japanese when I unpacked them... ;-) I found it wasn't a typo...
had a full transparent brower on about blank... a bit weird. but sorta cool...
finally figured out how the menus were messed up and saw howto correct most of the damage, but without spending alot more time fine-tuning, it would be hard to get it back just right.. but after spending a day (~10am-8pm on using Nightly), upgrading/config'ing various extensions....etc.
Anyway, I know I said give me a reason.. to upgrade from 3.6 -- a carrot rather than a stick, but too many problems...come on .. even the version was unlucky to begin with! (13!?) .. (I like 13, really, but thought it was humorous).
So how about 64-bits in something a bit better supported?

Finally FF got a bit better perf (a bit worse for more debug on, but better in having enough memory, and using a native instruction set rather than the virtualized 32-bit WOW, that it normally runs on...)...

Mozilla has never released a 64-bit version of Firefox for Windows, and the 32-bit versions of Firefox are faster than the Nightly 64-bit version test builds.
