Where can I get Lion?

Now that Mountain Lion has been released, and the App Store confirms that it will not run on my Mac Pro tower, where can I get Lion? I'm currently running Snow Leopard but would obviously like to move up to the latest available OS for my machine. Unfortunately it looks like Apple has removed any and all links to the Lion OS. Why?

That's got to be a mistake. GIve it a day or two and try again.

You can still get Lion but you have to CALL the Apple Web store, and or Phone ordering #, and they will email you a code you can use on the Mac App Store to download Lion. Cost $29.99.

To make yourself a Lion Install USB thumb drive so you will always have a way to reinstall Lion on all but the newest Mac computer you own (the newest Mac's have a special build of Lion that the normal Lion installer will not work on).

Where can I get OS X 10.7.5

I had a hard drive failure on one of my laptops. Both are / were running Lion OSX 10.7.5. One was a refurb from Apple, so didn't come with OSX media or a restore disk. The other (the one with the drive failure) was definitely an ongoing upgrade of OS via purchase of media and downloads from Apple. I have nothing from which to re-install Lion with. I can't even find my Snow Leopard media!

Certification test for OS X 10.7 Lion are not available yet. I assume they will be nearly identical to the test of 10.5 and 10.6. Hopefully, the reason the certification website has been down for a while is that they are updating it with the new information. Though I really wouldn't expect any 10.7 certification test to be available for 2-4 months. Peachpit Press didn't publish their training material for 10.6 until October even though 10.6 was released in August.
As far as the 10.6 Certifications:
Certified Support Professional, 10.6 requires the 9L0-403 exam.
Certified Technical Coordinator, 10.6 requires the 9L0-403 as well as the 9L0-510 (Server Essentials) exams.
The information for the Certified System Administrator, 10.6 is "hidden" on the integral7 website but according to this Wikipedia entry, you need to pass the 9L0-510 Server Essentials exam as well as these three:

Call Apple to purchase replacement discs or order a copy of Snow Leopard from Apple's Online Store. Follow these instructions:
Drive Preparation and Install Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
7. When completed quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard. Once you boot from Snow Leopard you should open Software Update and install all the available updates required. After you complete this and restart the computer open the App Store application in the Dock or Applications folder.
8. Sign into the App Store with your Apple ID and password. Purchase and download Lion.
9. After Lion's installer downloads, install Lion.

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

With the Lion it is essentially unnecessary to resort to external driver disks. What's more, most of those disks are incompatible with the OS and should not be used. The system already carries a wide variety of printer description files (aka PPDs, which is what modern printing systems use as "drivers") for a lot of brands. And there was an HP printer update just two days ago.
Just checked in mine and did indeed find that the HP OfficeJet 6200 Series, with or without Fax, is covered with the latest update.
So just go thru the motions of creating a proper printer instance:
Make sure the Mac "sees" the printer on the network.
System Preferences / Print & Scan
Click on the + button on the left column
Select the appropriate type of printer, will use IP for the rest of this
Select HP Jetdirect - Socket, default for HP network printers
Type the IP address or look it up
Name the printer for easy identification on the print dialog
Let the Mac identify the printer model or manually choose the driver
Click Add.
Once the instance pops up in the list, can click on Options & Supplies for further config.

Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If you can create and run a new library then your original library is damaged.
In that case make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:

Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If the problem persists with the new, test library then a reinstall of iPhoto is warranted. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder,

Hi, original poster here. I did not realize this would generate more discussion so I never checked back. I still had my warranty, so I took it to the store and got it repaired. The original problem I had was a screen with this icon flashing when I attempted to boot it up:
When I took it to the store, they told me that my computer was unable to communicate with the hard drive. I had this same problem three times in two months where this screen reappeared. Each time I went back to the store and they said the cause was different, but they were all hardware issues that physically made it impossible to communicate with the hard drive. After the third time, they simply replaced my laptop and I haven't had the same problem.
So in short: The reason you can't reinstall or move anything when you encounter this screen appears to be because nothing can communicate with the hard drive in the first place. You can't reach the disk or anything on it. So I don't believe it's possible to do anything besides take it to a physical store and have it fixed.

Dov, that is close but not in the status bar but at the bottom of the volder window. Surely , everyone can't have forgotten snow leopard and leopard et al already, where you could could to display at the bottom of all ovened folders to see the status of the the files and hard drive. Yes you can get the info from get info and in the list view. But we use to be able to have a line at the bottom that gave a running total, which to me was very useful as I throughput mondo files to discrete drives thoughout my network for sorting photos by topic to seperate drives.
