Where can I park my iweb website?

I love iweb designs and have a website domaine name where can I park my website without breaking the bank; or compromising quality?

Are you still using iWeb?  At this juncture you might consider switching to a web application that is still being supported and has the modern features that iWeb does not, like drop down menus, etc.
There are a number of potential candidates depending on you level of experience with HTML and web building.  One that many like is Everweb.  It's the most iWeb like in its GUI and drag and drop capability but is more full featured than iWeb is. Search this forum for "iweb alternative" to get a list of many topcis on the subject.

I want to move my iweb content to a hosting service. Where can I find the iweb files to move it on my local system?

You can publish directly to the server from iWeb via the built in FTP or to a local folder...

  • Where can I find the iWeb files?

I just bought a new iMac and gave my wife my "old" G5. A week after the migration of files from the G5 to the iMac 09, we did some work on an iWeb document on the G5 that I want to transfer to the new machine.
Where can I find the iWeb documents/files in the G5? Must be in a library somewhere.

It is the domain.sites file that you are after and this is found at your Home User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
Don't make the mistake of going to the System Library or you won't find it - it is in your Home User Library.
Just copy the domain.sites file to the same location on your other Mac and double click it and iWeb will open it.

  • Can I merge various iWeb websites into one ?

I have around 15 iWeb websites each with varying numbers of webpages. I would like to organize them in one website. Is there a way I can take the websites and make them into pages and subpages of a single website?

If your Sites are in the same domain file, then you can drag the pages from one site to the other.
If you have separate domain files, then you have to merge the domain files first with iWebSites.
    http://www.wyodor.net/_Demo/Aptana/iWebSites.html
iWeb has no subpages and you don't make them into pages.
To avoid navigation clutter, you can hide pages from the navigation bar.

  • Where can I publish my iWeb site?

We are creating an iWeb site for our wedding, and we know that MobileMe is no longer accepting new accounts. Where can we publish our site? I've never done this before, so any help is appreciated! Thanks!

If you have internet access it usually comes with some webspace. Check with your ISP.
Or search for : webhosting <name of your community/town/province/country>
Or look in the Yellow Pages. You know, that stack of paper with a yellow wrapper. Old fashioned, but still worth the search.
The world is larger than MobileMe. For some that's terrifying.

  • Where can I find the iweb project?

I know it's supposes to be in Library/Application Support/iWeb, but I can't find the "/iweb" folder on my computer -- it's not in my user Library directory, and not in my hd Library directory (goes right from iLifeSlideshow to Microsoft in both).
I just want to save one version of the site I'm making and then modify the site, and I know I did this in '08 -- but I can't find the file to move it to another folder.
    Dense, I'm sure.

As I said, dense. Applecare helped me find it. I had moved it long ago, and was searching for it in spotlight instead of in finder!

  • Can i publish an iWeb website to any host?

I want to use iWeb to build a website but i don't use mobile me.
I have a domain name with 1&1 and I have all the relevant ftp information but i can't see how you can publish a site made in iWeb unless it's through mobile me.
So does anyone know how I can get a site i've just made onto the internet without using mobile me? my web hosters are 1and1.
    many thanks
    Joe

    Joe:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes you can publish an iWeb site to any host server. It involves publishing to a folder on the Desktop (or anywhere you want it to reside on the HD) and then uploading the contents of that folder, a site folder and an index.html file, to your server using an ftp client like the free Cyberduck.
Enter the ftp information into Cyberduck and upload.

  • How can I make my iweb website high contrast?

    Hello,
High contrast websites seems to become the standard.
Are there ways to improve iweb with a high contrast option?
My website is clean white with text only, but now compared with high res templates white looks grey.
    Anybody any ideas?
    Many thanks
    Rene

The inbuilt facility to do this disappeared with the demise of MobileMe. It is possible: some ISPs offer this facility (GoDaddy is one) so you should start by checking whether yours does.
If not, you can do it yourself provided your ISP allows you to add an .htaccess file to your foldere - not all do. Also it's not entirely straighforward if you are unfamiliar with the techniques involved.
    This page describes the method:
    http://www.thesitewizard.com/apache/password-protect-directory.shtml
Please note the caveats at the bottom of the page: this isn't a highly secure method and you should not rely on it to protect sensitive information.

  • Can i transfer my iweb website to a new computer?

i built a website for my friend, linked to her mobileme account, which i logged into from my computer. Is there any way for me to transfer the web document to her computer so she can maintain it? The only thing I thought to try was to export it to a folder and bluetooth it to her desktop. Is there another place the website lives? Can I literally sync it via mobile me? Thanks for any advice!

    vickchick:
What you need to transfer to the other computer is the Domain.sites2 file that is located in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Put that file in the same folder on the other computer and launch iWeb. That file (acutally an UNIX style package, contains all the elements for publishing the site. That's it.

  • Can i make an iweb website without a .mac account?

So my 30 year old friend is asking me to make a website for his carwash. I can make it and everything, but i'm only 12, and i dont want it running though my parents .mac account. Is there any way of having the website and publishing directly on a domain name, without having it run through my .mac?

Is there any way of having the website and publishing directly on a domain name, without having it run through my .mac?
Yes. Build it normally, and then publish it to an FTP server or to a folder depending on the instructions provided by the organization hosting the site.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Where can i find complete iweb 08 template gallery

A potential client (pc user) wants to see all templates so he can choose one he likes. Apple site only shows a few 09 templates. Is there a link he can visit to show all iweb 08 templates?

Create a second web site and do the theme changing in it. You can view 12 of the 20 themes here: View themes gallery.
As for the many 3rd party themes you'll just have to do a Google search for them.
