Where can I start learning Xcode fundamentals/Objective C?

I'm trying to get into App development but I don't understand how to use Xcode and I'm looking for some good Objective C tutorials.  Any suggestions?

I'd start with spending time in the Apple Developers' forum here:
Developer Forums
That's where the XCode gurus hang out.

  • Where can I start learning about creating standalone .exe's

I'm looking to make my programs in executable form for just windows
as of now. Anybody have any good sources of urls or suggestions of where to start?

    Search forums, asked daily.
If you really just want to target windows, look up JET.
Else look up either Java Web Start, InstallAnywhere and Jar files.

    Pradip,
There is a fairly good tutorial built into designer 6i. It doesn't automatically install, you must do that yourself. The option is available in your start menu after a successful installation.
I haven't found even one book for Designer 6i.

  • SSH noob.  Where can I start

Hi. I'd like to learn about SSH... for connecting from computer to computer... but more importantly, for connecting from my iMac G5 to my web hosting server, which has a shell acct.
    Any web link recommendations?
    Thanks.

    Thank you both very much...
I was able to set it up and access my hosting shell to do what I needed after a bit of trial and error...
I followed steps 1 through 3 on this page...
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/DeveloperTools/Conceptual/XcodeUserGuid e20/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/SSHEnvironment/chapter51_section1.html
Don't understand it too much, but I will start learning... by using man pages at openSSH site and typing comands with --help I was able to do what I needed.
Not sure it's the right page, but it works now.
I will look into booth the book and macmedic link
    Thanks!!!

    Hi Les,
What you can do is choose some BI Scenario from SAP.com and try to develop the same in BW. But for this you will need connection to R3 as well. Since Iam going to meeting now, i can provide those website details in next half an hour.

  • Where Can I Start Java 2D

    Hi all :
I am new to java 2d and I find it is so hard to start working on it. The API is difficult to learn.
Can someone get any suggestions to me ?
    Thanks,
    James

The following link is a good starting-place:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/pdf/j2d-book.pdf
I also read the following to get on speed:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/pdf/VolatileImage.pdf
google can also get you some interesting information,
as well as different forums, such as the java2D-forum
and the game development (speeding up your rendering,...)
And you could also read some books, such as
    http://java.sun.com/developer/Books/2dgraphics/
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0672316692/qid=1096890159/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-3435799-6833446?v=glance&s=books
I'm not sponsored by their publishers,
these are books I've read and appreciated.
There are of course many other splendid books.
    kind regards,

  • Where can I start on this project?

I have this program due tomorrow at noon and I am no where near completion. I have worked on it for ~10 hours and havn't gotten any further then the first 1/2 hour. The assignment is to make an 8X8 battleship(ish) game. Randomly place 4 ships and so on. Here is the link to the assignment: http://www.cs.montana.edu/courses/221/programs/program1.html
I have the 8X8 layout done using both JPanels and JButtons. I don't think we have learned how to do the rest though. Any suggestions would be appreciated very much.
    Thanks
    Brandon

I have this program due tomorrow at noon and I am no
where near completion.I cannot help you on this but I can offer some advice.
You will never ever pass a college education on your own. You have to team up with a bunch of friends. You can come here with specific questions but that can't replace the peer support you need to pass a whole education.

  • Where can I find little arrows and objects to display using an alerter?

I need a little arrow to turn red or green depending on a value.  I can make the alerter work but not find a convenient way to put the find little arrow to put in the cell to display.

    Hi Roguefem,
You need to have images stored in boimg directory (normally C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\images).
You can put it in image from url section on the format section. So for an up and down image your will need 2 separate images.

  • Where can I download complete Xcode Developer Tools for OS-X 10.6?

I have OS-X version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard, I think). I do not have Xcode installed. I do not have the original MAC DVD.
I figured out I needed Xcode 3.2. When I download "Xcode 3.2" it from Apple, during install it says it failed "to locate package at ~/Packages/DeveloperTools.pkg".
Downloading "Xcode 3.2.1 Developer Tools" (there is no "Xcode 3.2 Developer Tools"), installing it results in the same error message. (The contents of this DMG is "XcodeTools.mpkg".)
Maybe I should download "Xcode 3.2.6 and iOS SDK 4.3 for Snow Leopard"? (But that is 4.14GB and I can't download that right now.)
Or am I stuck because I do not have the original DVD which I may need to get "DeveloperTools.pkg"?
(Also, why do you think the DMG binaries are so huge? The "Xcode 3.2" DMG for example, is 1GB, but the inside "Xcode.mpkg" is only 541KB!)

Any of the Xcode 3.2.x download packages will work with Snow Leopard. You don't need the Snow Leopard DVD to install Xcode, but if you had the DVD things would be easier for you because you could install Xcode from the DVD and not have to download it. If you don't need to develop for iOS, Xcode 3.2.2 is 744.71 MB, which is a much smaller download than Xcode 3.2.6.
The Xcode binaries are huge because you're downloading and installing more than just Xcode. There are other GUI apps, such as Interface Builder, Instruments, Dashcode, and Quartz Composer. There are also command-line tools. And there may also be developer documentation included with the Xcode binaries. All that adds up.

  • I want to start learning Xcode,

but im wondering if "Beginning IOS 5 Development" is outdated? Should I wait for "Beginning IOS 6" comes out?

Just so you know, "Beginning iOS 6 Development" is out! Well, almost. You can buy the digital "alpha book" right now, which contains almost everything, and then you'll automatically get the final digital version within the next week.
    http://www.apress.com/9781430245124
Or, if you want a paper book, you can pre-order it from Amazon and have it in a couple of weeks.
    http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-iOS-Development-Exploring-SDK/dp/1430245123
The old version is fine of course, but the new version covers some new material, matches the latest Xcode (which has really changed quite a bit in a year) and has improvements all over the place.
