It sounds like you want to upload a project to Instagram that you have in iMovie. You can export the video as a quicktime file, and then upload that file to Instagram. Use this article to export the video to a file:

You will need to find a used copy of iLife '06 installer discs. E-bay, Craigslist, perhaps Google Groups Low End Mac.

You can investigate iLife '08 as mende1 suggests. Many people did not like the "improvements" Apple made to iMovie '08 and Apple went as far as making available a special download of iMovie 06 for those who purchased iLife 08. This download is no longer available.
You also did not say what hardware you are using. iMovie '08 will not run on all computers capable of running 10.4.11 - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1010

A student of mine is requesting the older version of iMovie HD v 6. 0.3 I used to be able to find it on Apples website but not anymore. Can anyone help?

You can get iMovie 06 in a number of ways. You cannot download it FROM APPLE any longer (it was free for a time). You can also find iMovie 06 on the iLife 06 install disc. You can buy iLife 06 on Amazon or eBay.
But be prepared to pay about double the cost of iLife 11 (but well worth every penny). Seller's are becoming aware of its value.

Where Can I Compare iMovie, FCE, FCP?

Can anyone refer me to a resource where I can compare the attributes of iMovie, Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro?
I made movie a while ago with iMovie HD mixing slides and video clips. I was very pleased with it, although it felt a bit limiting. I'm about to start a similar project, and I'm trying to decide what to do it with.
I've tried the later versions of iMovie, and quickly got rid of them, going back to HD.
I think I'd like to move up, and FCE looks right. FCP looks too expensive and way more than I need.
I searched a little here and on this forum but didn't see any side-by-sides. Any help out there?

being the iMovie-guy here at the boards (have a look there...), I'm switching to FCE for quite a while, because it IS the next step in movie making.
the learning curve IS steem, totally diff. concept, in user interface, in handling, in workflows. no '1-click-done'-app, you have to understand a few rules & concepts of movie-making and -techniqué.
I'm very much recommending any book from FC-mastermind *Tom Wolsky*, who's participating here. as a non-english-speaker, I really like his laidback tone, easy to understand, allways hands-on, no tech-blabla, ... a teacher, in best means.
I'm used to use Soundtrack.. for sure, you can accomplish similar tasks in Garageband, which is basicly the same.
LiveType offers some marvelous effects, I can use in my son's action-movies.. like this (the explosion is a LT effect!)
for easy integration into iLife/mobileme, simply use the new features of QT_X player.. in FCE, Export Movie (which is a small/fast reference.mov), open that with QTX, upload to your mm-gallery or YT or.. no stress with settings and codecs and.. simple&convenient.
FCE4 offers - aside support for modern camcorders - integration of plug-ins.. so, if you don't want to build your own effects, or got used to iMovies instant-themes.. there's a wide range of (many free!) plugins, which teach FCE new wonders..

Where can I find "iMovie splash" video?

Following a catastrophic kernel panic and subsequent erase and install, I seem to have lost that little QuickTime video called "iMovie splash". Does anyone know where I can download it again? It lasts about 7 seconds and consists of a group of children dancing with a close-up of one of the girls grinning and clapping her hand over her mouth. The final caption reads "iMovie". I used to append it to the end of all my iMovie "productions".

David, sorry to be so thick but I thought that because I sent you an e-mail, using the address I found by clicking on your name, you would automatically be able to send me a return e-mail. As you can see, I'm merely trying to get out of publishing my e-mail address within Preferences because I only have two addresses which are both used extensively. Alternatively, could I just send you an e-mail which contains my e-mail address? That would be my preferred option. If I'm barking up the wrong tree, just let me know and I'll see if I can remember how to either create a new address and use that, or alternatively use one of my two current addresses in Preferences for just as long as it takes for you to send me the attachment and afterwards, remove it.

I just got an 08 mac book pro and I bought it because I was told I could download imovie 06 off the apple website. that was the whole reason why I got a mac, but now, they apparently just took the download off. Does anyone know where I can find the download? Thank you for your help

As you know we are forbidden to tell people where to obtain iMovie 6 except to suggest that they buy iLife 6 on eBay.

I've been asked to create an ebook and find out where to upload and store it so it can be linked to a website. I use InDesign all the time but am not a programer so I'm going to give the new InDesign CC 2014 a go to create my first one after hearing all about EPub at the Adobe Road Shoe in NZ.
Has anyone got suggestions on where I can upload it to that is secure and can be linked to a website that has already been created. It's not something that is going to be sold - just for people to be able to download it who are within the business.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help.

Where can I download iMovie HD 5?

iMovie 08 came with my new macBook pro and I can't get it to do anything.
It won't load my .mov files unless I export them through iPhoto and it took hours on this forum to find that workaround.
It won't load photos from iPhoto and now I can't drag and drop the transitions into the window either as they just don't go.
Anyone know where I can get iMovie HD 5 instead?
Also, is anyone else having a problem with iPhoto 08 not saving changes like crops and things?
I'm so not impressed with iLife 08. Surely basic things working is the most important thing?

How do I tell if it's corrupted?
If you have properly converted movies and they still won't load, if you are bringing in photos correctly and they aren't being accepted by the Project, and if you can't apply transitions to your project, then I would suspect that either your project is corrupted or the application is corrupted. To find out which, I would open an new project and try adding a movie file, a photo, and apply a transition. If these work in the new project, then I would assume your old project was corrupted. If they still don't work in the new project, then either your application is corrupted or in a state of conflict with some other software. If you haven't added anything new recently or changed your system configuration in any major way, then I would lean towards corruption of the application.

Where can I get iMovie '08 or '09?

When I upgraded my 2008 Macbook Pro from Leopard to Snow Leopard (current vers. 10.6.8) in Dec 2012 I apparently lost my copy of iMovie. Discovered this yesterday when I was tasked with recording and editing several videos for school. The current iMovie '11 is NOT compatible with my computer (req. a later version of OSX).
If anyone knows where I can download a compatible copy of iMovie and only iMovie I'd be extremely grateful! CNet and various other software sites haven't been helpful and I believe the free downloads on the Apple Support site are updates not the program itself.
Please advise! Alternatives welcome!

You'll have to search for a reseller of the iLife '09 DVD. Or find your own copy that shipped with your computer.
