Where can suggestions for app improvements be placed?

Recently, the comfortable display of in-app info (such as current temperature in weather apps) has been introduced. Unfortunately, sub-zero temperatures are displayed in a red dot just as if they were positive. Understand that introducing a "minus" may cause a space problem but how about displaying blue instead of red dots for such sub-zero temps?

    Hi Marilyn,
Thanks a lot for the reply, it's good to see that even the not-so-polite rant postings are taken serious and get attention. I think that most of us truly appreciate the platform SAP is providing, but we're a bit tired with some of the application features/limitations. So I hope nobody takes offense when we're venting a bit...
    Waiting for more input here.
I neither understand the <em>more input</em> (for what and by whom) nor the <em>here</em> (this thread or this forum). The missing functionality for dealing with unanswered questions seems obvious enough. At least that should be one topic that everybody agrees on. I suspect that the same applies to the rather poor <em>search capabilities</em>. Though as we can see in the forums, lots of people apparently seem to prefer to quickly shoot some questions instead of wasting their time with any research...
    Continue to convince us please.
Is that a polite way of saying <em>keep on whining</em>? If yes, then no problem, I think we all need to do that from time to time...
If the feedback from the community is truly important, I'd say that there should be a public system for posting bugs/feature requests on which people could vote. This should be prominently placed in the forums and would allow easier feedback. The voting feature could be used to possibly limit the bugs/requested features to look at (e.g. top ten list) and then be classified by SAP based on implementation effort (with the usual disclaimer that no feature might ever be implemented just because it's wanted). Needless to say that it should be easy to search for already existing requests, but in general I'd assume that fairly soon there would be more voting (on top requests) than posting new ones...
To channel requests and avoid too many silly postings in this bug/feature tool one could imagine using earned <em>forum points</em> possibly as a currency for putting a value to the requests (i.e. I could vote to say if feature A gets implemented I'd pay it with N forum points, which are deducted from my account once the feature is present). I'm not sure if that is a good idea, but at least it might ensure that people who truly care about the platform enter their comments. At least it seems that often systems, which implement some artificial monetary system and try to optimize on cost, yield very good results...
    Cheers, harald

  • What is proper way to report suggestions for app features And bugs to Apple

What is the proper way to report suggestions for app features to Apple? Or, do they even want suggestions?
And, how about reporting app bugs? Should I just assume the bug is already known, or is there a way for (quickly) reporting them?

I'm not sure about bugs in non-Apple apps, but bugs in Apple apps can be reported via this form:

Trust me when I say this coming from 20 years of experience.
Get a powered external drive, format it 1 Partition Option: GUID and OS X Extended Journed as the format in Disk Utility.
Download and install Carbon Copy Cloner, clone internal drive to external drive.
Set a schedule to remind you to do it at least once a week, keep it near your charger.
When you plug your charger in, do plug the clone and power the machine up, set the display to sleep only,
    CCC will do the rest.
If you want to boot from it, hold the option/alt and select it Startup Manager.
I've seen many TimeMachine and TimeCapsule nightmares and so far haven't seen a problem from anyone using a bootable clone.
It's simple, it's easy, it's more reliable and more powerful than what Apple does and it only takes plugging in a extra cable.
Make as many clones as you want, keep them time seperated, off site etc. etc.
Cables don't have network issues, clones can be verified in seconds merely by booting from them.
Clones protect your productivity, your up in seconds on a clone despite even the hard drive dying.
Software problem? No sweat, boot of the clone and reverse clone your problems away.
If you want to fuss and muss with half implemented TimeMachine and TimeCapsule network headaches then prepare to suffer.
I don't like to suffer, I bought a Mac not to suffer, but it appears you do with TimeMachine and TimeCapsule.

  • Where can i find apps for 3gs?

Hi, I have a 3gs and don't want to upgrade to os4 or os5 (I know it will be dog slow).  now i cannot find many apps -- for example reinstalling fb isn't possible.  where can I find safe 3GS apps?

What you want cannot be done without Jailbreaking. But why did you never update to ios 4 at least? iOS 4 runs great on the 3GS. Ios 5 is really not bad on the 3GS either. You're missing out on a HUGE amount of new features by still being on ios 3. It's your call but I would upgrade. A lot of people are still "buying" the free 3GSs with contract and those come with ios 5 and most don't have issues. I can assure you that iOS 5 on the 3GS will be nowhere as bad as ios 4 was on my 3G. iOS 4 should never have been allowed on the 3G.

  • Where can I find apps for my iPhone 2?

No. If not in your iTunes library, you can only get apps from the app store. You can use this site to search for apps that will run on your phone:

  • Special education - where can I find apps for iPads?

I am looking for apps for a high school student who is ELL and SpEd, identified as SLD in reading. He needs a screen reader and speech to text. If anyone has experience or suggestions, I would appreciate your help. The Apple Store website does not seem especially user-friendly to me.
    Thanks!

If you open iTunes > App Store > Drop down menu choose Education > in the right panel you will see Special Education
Not sure if that is of any help, if not your best bet would to try a Google or Bing web search.

  • Where can I find apps for ios 4.2?

I have an Ipod touch, and the latest update available for my device was version 4.2.1, and yet the aps available in the App store require version 4.3 or higher.
    Thank you!

    Not true.
Not all apps in the app store require 4.3 or later.
The ONLY place to get any app for the iphone/ipod/ipad is the app store in itunes.  You will simply have to look at the requirements for apps that require 4.2 or lower.

  • Any suggestions for CHEAP improvements to dequeue performance?

We have a case where we have to call the SO change BAPI twice in rapid succession on the same SO.  It would be nice if we could avoid this, but we can't, so let's assume that redesigning the code is not an answer to the problem.
In our dev instance, dequeues are very quick, and as a result, we almost never get "self-contention" on the second BAPI call.
That is, the second BAPI call almost never returns an error saying that the SO is in use by the same user.
But in our first-level QA instance, we were almost always getting this kind of "self-contention" error until we actually put the second BAPI call in a DO loop that executes up to 20 times with a 2 second wait inbetween each iteration.  (Note that before taking this extreme measure, we tried calling the "VBAKKE" dequeue function twice (explicit and wildcard) with a 2 second wait, but this didn't help.)
What is causing the difference between dequeue performance in our dev and QA instances, and is there anything CHEAP that can be done to improve performance in our QA instance?
Inquiring minds want to know, so thanks for whatever time you can afford to spend thinking about this matter.
    djh

    Hi Krish L -
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Before we went to the "VBAKKE" dequeue in explicit and wildcard mode, we tried a simple dequeue all that didn't work.
Also, before we put the second call in the DO loop with the wait two seconds, we changed the explicit commit between the two BAPI calls to a commit and wait, and also put a hard wait up to 2 seconds AFTER this commit and wait.
So you can see that our enqueue server must be really suffering, because the only thing that's worked so far is the do loop around the second bapi call, with the 2 sec wait inbetween each iteration.
That's why I'm asking for help from the Basis side, because it's clearly a problem of overload on the enqueue server contention for the lock table at the Oracle level.
Do you (or anyone else) know if the lock table can be parallelized at the Oracle level?
    Best

  • Suggestion for App Store when viewing from iphone

I hadn't checked the app store for about a week and when I looked last night... 844 games?! Thats awesome. BIG pain trying to look through all those games though.
Is there any way to suggest to Apple that they add some simple sorts under the "categories" section? It would be great to go to the category "games", for example, and then be able to sort by say: date added, avg rating, and price.
If you could set two sorts it would be ideal but anything is better than looking through 844 apps in what appears to be random order.
Seems like it would be such a simple thing for the mighty Apple programmers to do....

We are users here - I'd suggest making the suggestion to Apple:
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • Where can I find apps which are compatible with original iphone?

All the apps even twitter and facebook apps on app store say it requires a ios4. Could someone tell me where I can find apps for original iphone

See the response by PC1234 at https://discussions.apple.com/message/19298842#19298842 to see some techniques for doing this with a Google search.  You would need to replace the 3.1 with the version of iOs that your original iPhone is using.  Your version number can be found under Settings:General:About:Version on your iPhone.

  • Where can I store app content?

We're transitioning our AIR apps to Android and am a little unsure of a few things.
We're busy developing a magazine type app that will have content (images, video, swfs) downloaded by the app to the tablet device over time and will grow as new issues appear. The app will also use an AIR SQLite db.
    1. Where should this content live? I've considered putting it on an SD card, but some tablets don't have external storage. Best practice suggests that this kind of data shouldn't be stored in the File.applicationStorageDirectory so I'm guessing somewhere else on the filesystem. If anybody can point me to a similar post or discussion around this I can then clarify my understanding of this.
    2. When the app gets updated (if I understand correctly, essentially by a brand new .apk file), I'm assuming all the app data and related SQLite db's get deleted? If so, how do I update the app but maintain the database? This is also the crux of my forum question of where I should place the app content.
Any pointers, links and hints to this will be very much appreciated! And of course, my terminology may be incorrect so feel free to correct.
    Thanks
    Simon

    Thanks Anurag.
Together with your response and other searching I think I understand the situation better.
What confused me was the concept of external storage, as this was where Android saves File.documentsDirectory data too.
On the Galaxy 10.1, it doesn't have any physical external storage ie. no place to insert an SD card. Yet there is a reference to it in the file manager.
    (Seriously confused face).
It turns out that 'external storage' is somewhat of a misnomer, as it can be physically internal and external:
"The entire /sdcard directory (with the DCIM, Android, Samsung folders) is your internal SD card.
/sdcard/sd is your external SD card. When there is an external SD, you will see the little card symbol in the icon from "My Files". If there is no external SD, or if it is unmounted, then you will not see the little card symbol and the directory /sdcard/sd is just a placeholder. Any files you put in there will be gone once you mount an external SD." androidforums.com
    Ah!
I also found this forum post which helped develop my understanding further about persistence of data.
And Frédéric, my guess is that one could 'share' documents across apps in this way, if the permissions are correct. Two posts I found deal with that - about Android and about iOS - might be relevant.
