I have an older Mac Pro (2006). I want to install Boot Camp and Windows. I have installed a boxed Snow Leapord on the machine. And it says the download of the Boot camp drivers cannot continue because they are not available. But at that point I have not inserted a windows disk, so how does it know i have XP?
So it appears I am limited to Windows 7? And where are the Windows 7/Boot Camp Drivers? On the OS disk?
Finally, since I have necer considered Windows 7 before, I assume there are no compatability issues with mainstream applications that were running in XP?
    Thank you.

    You're welcome
Just remember to reformat the partition (bootcamp partition) to NTFS with the windows installer, ensure to pick the correct partition.

  • Where is my Windows 7 software!

I have a new k330 and just installed the admin. password.  When I type it in the screen hangs up on Welcome and then says it is invalid.  Either I made a type twice when setting it up (the keyboard is a little sticky) or there is something else wrong.  The help guides say I have to reinstall Windows 7, but the only disk I got with the computer says "drivers".  I do not have a recover disk.  My last system ran on XP and I had the XP disk, so I didn't think I needed one.
Where is my Windows 7 software?  Why didn't it come with my computer if I have a legal copy?

it comes with the means for you to make a recovery-to-factory state disk set.... have you made those disks?

  • Where does download window go?

When I download some items, a small window opens until the download is complete. I can then open the download. If I do not open the download at that time, and maybe plan to do it later, I close the download window. But when I want to go back to the download window, I don't know where to look. Where does this window go when it closes?
    Thanks for info.

By default, most browsers are set to place the files on the Desktop. This make clutter, so I like to create a Downloads folder in (user)/Documents and use the browser's Preferences to point all future downloads to that location.
I also drag the new folder's icon to the right side of the Dock (right of the separator that's next to the Trash) so I have ready access to that folder through a Dock alias.
If you can't find the current location of your downloads, launch Safari and, from the Windows menu, choose "Downloads." Click on the magnifying glass icon at the right edge of any file. This is a "reveal in Finder" function that will open a window with all the downloads. To see the path to that window, hold the command key and click on the window's name.

  • I can no longer view my iTunes "sync in progress."  where did this window go, and how do I get it back?

Hi; I can no longer view my iTunes "sync in progress" window--the window that tells me each thing that is syncing, etc.  Where did it go, and how do I get it back?  Thanks if you can help--I was on the phone with Apple for 7 minutes on hold and then they just cut me off.  (Nice).

Now, I find myself unable to update my version of Itunes. it asks me if I wish to update the version, I say yes, and then nothing happens.
With that one, I'd try updating using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file, downloaded from the Apple Website:

  • Where are the Windows Drivers?

    Hi,
When I run Bootcamp 2.0 And try to partition the drive for Vista bootcamps says..."After you have installed and set up windows, insert your Mac OS X Leopard install disc to install additional drivers and other software for windows."
So I went looking on my install discs. I cant figure out where these Windows drivers are. Anyone know?

You can also find the drivers in the boot camp download page. Depending on your flavor of Windows (32bit or 64bit), you'll download different updates for Boot Camp 2.1.
    Go here - http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
On the upper right corner of the screen you will see the Software Updates section. Click on the appropriate link to download the file you need. The files that you download are Windows executables and should only be downloaded in Windows. They can also be run directly from the website, but clicking the Run button (instead of Save) after you click the appropriate download link.
    Hope that helps!

  • Where is the "Window Layouts" file?

I exported my 65 GB movie.
I didn't check the location; just assumed it was going to plant the last place I exported a movie to.
I clicked the "export" command again to see where it defaulted to; I can see the movie name, but the finder cannot locate either my movie nor the "Window Layouts" folder it is in, presumably because it's buried in a bundled file somewhere.
    RRRRrrrrr
I'm going to have to export the movie again unless somebody can tell me where the *** this file is...
And it was going so well...
    Thanks!

    Thanks, guys.
I just downloaded and installed a nifty little program called "Find File" which searches inside bundles and packages, too.
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10906315
Found it, just where you said, Nick!
FCP really shouldn't export movies to a preferences file! That seems a little like a glitch to me...

  • Where is "float window above other apps" in digital color meter ?

Where is the option to Float window above other apps in digital color meter (osx 10.8.2) ?

It's difficult to provide help without knowing your level of color-management expertise, but I think you've helped us some with that in post number 2.
Color management is basically this:  Images and devices have certain color characteristics, and these are described by color profiles, sometimes also called color spaces.
    1.  You should not need to use the Proof Setup at all to view your images on your monitor.  When things are set up properly Photoshop shows you accurate color without your choosing View - Proof Colors.
    2.  A color-managed application like Photoshop will try to show you accurate color on your display by interpreting both the image profile and your monitor profile and transforming the colors accordingly.  BY DEFINITION this will look different than other applications which don't do color-management as these just pump the image RGB values directly out to the display.
    Thus:
If your monitor profile indicates your monitor has a wide gamut, images with embedded profiles may appear less saturated inside Photoshop than from non-color-managed apps.
If you view images that have an embedded wide gamut profile (such as Adobe RGB 1998 or ProPhoto RGB), Photoshop and other color-managed applications will interpret that profile and the colors will likely appear more saturated in Photoshop than in a non-color-managed application.
It sounds as though the first case applies in your case here.
You can check to see what monitor profile is associated with your monitor through OS settings.  I'm thinking, based on the caption buttons in your screen grab, that you've got Windows XP, but rather than go further with that assumption, I'll ask you to verify it first.

  • Where is the window border stored?

If you open a finder or system prefs window, or even the top of an app like firefox,
you have that ugly gray border where the search bar and window-resize buttons are.
I just want to know where the resource for it is.
I know it should be in disk Library or Core but I don't really know where to find it.
I have 10.8 not that it matters.
If it's just an image resource then I only want to darken it, that's all.
I assume I'll get no help but I just want to try anyway.

    Hi,
The header/title bar as you call it will be inside the app package for third party apps like Firefox.
Mine in Firefox is actually themed and not grey.
Similarly Apple Apps will have a NIB item that controls the windowing and title bars.
I would expect as you suggest that these will be in Hard Drive Name/System/Library/Core Services somewhere.
But it is just as likely they are stored in one of the invisible folders

  • Where to find Windows XP Value Added Package (VAP) for Portege R500

Where can I find the VAR software for Windows XP for the R500 (SSD, without optical drive)? Because otherwise the fn keys won't function...
I already tried to bypass the check in the Vista version.
Then I choose custom and select some options. Some fn keys work, others don't. And when one doesn't every function key stops working until I run reset flash (or something like that).
When can I suspect the VAR software for XP?

Toshiba Common Modules controls the FN buttons under Win XP.
    So reinstall the Common Module.
Hotkey Utilities for Display Devices controls the FN+F5 button combination.
Touch Pad On/Off Utility controls the FN+F9
But as I said above; common Modules must be installed at first and are very important.
So my personal advice to you; before you will post some personal statements, check the available drivers!!
Just a hint for the future ;)

    Hey Everyone ,
Can somebody please point me to the right direction of buying windows server 2012 R2 Data Center edition in a box ?
I want the retail one .. the OEM's are everywhere like in amazon or HP or ..
but I think the OEM is not suitable for me because I have a variety of hard wares like IBM , Cisco and HP so OEM is out of the question .
I searched everywhere but there is no retail version at sight .
Oh I find the Standard edition on Microsoft Store . but there where no data Center .
If anyone have any document that says there's no retail version of DC edition it would be very much appreciated as well .
    thanks again .
    Good Day .

You can't buy the datacenter edition as retail.

I had this problem while working on a pc at my office. When I searched every where for it the only thing I could find is the registry key that you have to remove. We found a way to fix it though. The registry key is the driver that itunes uses to access the optical drive so it can burn with it, but there is a conflict. What must be done is either uninstall itunes or remove that registry key so you can have access to the optical device. Do all the firmware upgrades for the optical drives and update the bios for the pc to the latest addition. install itunes, and update to the latest version (you will probably lose your optical drive again). No go to the windows updater and make sure you get and install ALL latest updates. Afterwords, restart, you should be able to see your cd drive, if not, you probably have roxio and its conflicting with itunes. If you uninstall roxio, you will be able to use your itunes to burn cd's and you can see the drive. If you need roxio and still having the problem, remove the registry key again. The only thing it disables is the ability for itunes to burn cd's and it will tell you everytime you open it that it needs to be repaired, but it will work fine with out it so don't repair it. This is as far as I have gotten.

  • Where is the Windows 8 Pro 64-bit ISO download?

Normal tech support has yet to answer this problem.  I purchased the $39.99 Windows 8 Pro download, and ran the upgrade on my Windows XP Home Edition (which is 32-bit OS, by design) machine.  The machine is fully capable of a 64-bit OS (in
fact, I have a dual boot with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit running in a separate partition).  When I finished the Windows 8 Pro install, it turned out to be the 32-bit version.  I discovered via the normal support forum that this is a limitation of the
download installer - it chooses without user option the architecture based upon the older Windows version.
I called support and they first thought that the MS store could provide the 64-bit ISO download.  That didn't work - they're researching it, though.  I tried support again and this time the rep said the installer chooses the architecture based
on what the machine is capable of running.  I respectfully disagreed, but that didn't solve my problem.
So, how can I get the 64-bit ISO download, without having to make an ADDITIONAL purchase of the retail DVD version?
    - A frustrated IT professional

I attempted to get this problem resolved and entered the truly bizarre world of Microsoft "Support."
The Windows 8 support line took my information, repeatedly put me on hold and then transferred me to another department.    I was again asked for all my information, again put on hold repeatedly and then transferred to a third department.
I ended up with a recording saying my call couldn't be completed and was sent back to the 1st support department.
I spent the next 15 minutes again repeatedly being put on hold and I eventually asked for a supervisor who again wanted all my information.  At this point I had been on the phone with Microsoft for over an hour and had gotten nowhere so I asked for
a refund.  The supervisor said she would process one asked me to go to a web page and click on a link that did not exist on that web page.  She spent the next 15 minutes putting me on hold and then returning to the call only to again insist I click
    on the non-existent link.
Eventually she figured out that there was a problem with Microsoft's web page and said I would get a call back within 48 hours.  72 hours later I had received no call.
I again called the Windows 8 support line.  After 20 minutes I was told that I was calling the wrong department (I had spent over an hour on the phone with them previously) and given another phone number.  I called the 2nd phone number and was
given a 3rd phone number. When I called the 3rd number I was given the 1st number once again.
I had spent over 2 hours on the phone with various Microsoft departments and ended up literally right back where I started.  I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card company and contacting the Attorney General.
I can happily say that my experiance was the opposite they were freidly and helpfull told me I would need a refund as the 32 Bit Key Code would not work for a 64 Bit download ? rather odd as it was the same code for both 32 and 64 Bit versions discs when I
installed Win 7, and they gave me a web link that took me to my purchase information and I had to Click on the refund link, the email regarding my rufund was in my inbox by the time I had completeed doing the required steps on the web link, the email also
had a link for this same web siteI had visited as well. simple and painless, very stisfied with the helpline, OK so not being warned about it only going to download a software ISO etc. for the present 32 or 64 Bit operating system was annoying and while
a well meaning idea to ensure a simple upgrade was flawed, but easy to get round.
