Where did "Auto-Check Mail" go?

I was trying to check if my auto-check was enabled and I can't find it. I did some searching and found this article.
It says to go to Settings > Mail > Auto-Check. But when I go to Settings > Mail there is no Auto-Check. I only see:
Accounts
Yahoo!
Add Account...

Preview
Minimum Font Size
Show To/Cc Label
Ask Before Deleting
Sending
Always Bcc Myself
Signature
Default Account
I see nothing about Auto-Check. If I go into my default account (Yahoo!) I see:
Account (ON/OFF)
*Yahoo! Account Information*
Name
Address
Password
Description
Advanced
Within ^ Advanced I see:
*Mailbox Behaviors*
Drafts Mailbox
Sent Mailbox
Deleted Mailbox
Deleted Messages

*Yahoo! Settings*
Use push mail (ON/OFF)
I don't remember having this much trouble finding it before. Is there something wrong with my iPhone, or did Apple change it in an update and I haven't heard about it?
Thanks for any help.
Maybe I'm just tired and it's staring me right in the face. I dunno...

Hello Garner, this is what to do, from iphones main screen go to settings, then mail, tap on your Yahoo account, tap advanced, you will then see an option to turn Push email on/off (provided you have 1.1.1 software on your iphone) toggle Push off, return to the main screen, go back into settings, select mail, you will now see the option for auto check- manual, 15min, 30min, 1hour. Hope this helps, Steve...

  • Where did the 'sending mail' bar go?

I remember at some point, when I sent a msg with an attachment, there used to be a bar which would fill on the bottom lefthand side of the window showing how much of the message had been sent. Once it would fill (indicating that 100% of the msg was sent), Mail would ding and the msg would appear in my sent folder. Where oh where did this 'sent mail' bar go?
And how do I get it back?

    Hiya there,
    that should be easy:
at the bottom left (of your complete macmail window), you see a plus sign, an +arrow in a square box+ and a preferences cog wheel. click on the middle arrow in square box), the mail activity window will slide up, and you can see what is happening again.

  • Where did my older mail go?

I just got a new iMac running 10.7.2 to replace our old 2003 iMac (10.4.11). I set up our 3 existing mail accounts on the new computer and messages we had received in the inboxes using our old iMac started to appear, great!  However, the messages only go back 2 or 3 weeks.  How can I get more recieved messages going back to an earlier time?  Also, can I retrieve messages sent on our previous iMac or are they gone for good?
    Thanks

Thanks for your quick reply, Eric. So far, so good. The folder you referenced is the one I referenced in my original post (minus the home folder/user part). The correct folders (for each email account I have downloading to Mail) appear to be there. When you say "Check to see if the e-mails are there," that's the part I'm missing. When I open Mail, it wants me to start from scratch, which appears to mean I'd have to recreate each separate mailbox from within Mail.
Is there an easy way to point Mail to the aforementioned Mail folder so it can find all the old emails by itself? If not, and I have to recreate the individual mailboxes from within the Mail application, will those new mailboxes overwrite the old ones (a bad thing), or will it just show Mail where to find them?
Re: the backups, I use Time Machine for backing up, but when I went to look for the Mail folder, it didn't appear to be there...

  • Where did my flagged mails go?

I'm usually using my (as far as I know) fully updated Macbook Pro with 10.9.1 and Mail 7.1. I have 5 accounts in Mail with 3 through Google, 1 regular smtp/imap and 1 exchange. A few days ago I noticed that the Flagged folder was empty which seemed weird, but I was low on disk so I didn't think much more about it then.
Today I've got a few GB available on the disk, but the folder is still empty so I search the net and found a few suggestions to recreate folder indexes:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11704
Having done so the folder dissapeared from the left panel but flagging a new mail made it reappear. However, that email was not to be seen in it, it was still empty.
So, what am I missing here to make the mails reappear in the Flagged folder? Going into other folders I can still see the flagged emails their with their red and yellow flags. But Flagged is still empty.

Now that you have recovered them back them up somewhere else.  Having only a single copy of important files is not good.  A hard drive can fail at any time.  If you don't have a backup, you will lose everything.

  • IPhone 3G: Automatic send/receive notification (wha happened to auto-check)

Anybody know where the auto-check feature for emails is for the 3G? I don't get email alerts every XX minutes with the new 3G. I have to login to the mail app every time to check, which *****!

I would also set the Push to Off, so that your phone won't be waiting for new messages all the time. Also set the fetch time to an hour or manual. Here is an except from tiphub:
This is another battery saving tip, if don't need to get your emails immediately using Yahoo, Mobile Me or have setup your corporate Microsoft Exchange, then disable push by going to Settings > Fetch New Data > Set Push to Off. Emails will then be based on the Fetch time below on the same screen.
Set the fetch time for the email to an hour or manually to optimize your battery life the most.
There are other tips on there as well:

  • Where is the auto check for Mail?

Before the 2.0 update, I could set the Mail app for auto check every 30 minutes or so, not in 2.0, I cannot find this option any more. Can I still make this setting somewhere?
    André

The setting is in Settings > Fetch New Data. Set Fetch to 30 min (other options are 15 min and hourly).
You'll want Push set to OFF, unless you have a need for it and your email account supports it (MobileMe, Yahoo, or an MS Exchange server do); push uses a lot of battery power, so if you don't have a need for it, leave it off.
    Hope this helps...

  • Auto check in Mail App on iPhone 4

    Hi,
Sometimes the Mail App automatically checks for new e-mails and alerts me... but not always.
A few times in the last couple of weeks I've missed staying in "live" contact with friends because the Mail App did not check for new messages at all until I began to compose a new message and the app would then download the e-mail hours after it was sent.
I've googled the issue but the only thing I can find is to use "auto checking" in Settings, but that does not exsist anymore it seems.
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers

New emails should automatically get pushed onto your device; however if you have read your emails on a different computer or device it will still show as unread on your iphone.
follow the following steps make sure that they are right:
    Settings
    Mail Contacts Calendar
    Fetch new Data
    Ensure that “Push” is on
Ensure that “Every 15 Minutes” is selected
    Go down to advanced
Select the accounts outstanding and change them to “Push”

I can't find my notes in my iCloud account. I checked my iPhone 4, and it says that they are still being saved to the iCloud. Where did they go?

I'm not familiar with the PC end of things, but in a recent post I read about someone using notes.exe to access notes (I'm assuming they knew what they were talking about) - would your installation of icloud app(s) include a notes program?  At least do this, log into icloud.com with a computer browser and look in mail.  There should be a notes "folder" listed along with the others you may have defined.  Are you notes there?  If not, that's the problem.  Be sure notes is turned on in Settings>icloud on your device.  if they are there, then it looks like the PC end is the problem - but I can't provide help concerning that.

  • Where did the link to Mail go!!?

OK. I am totally confused and lost, and getting very frustrated.
I can no longer simply go to Mail via Safari.
    I go here:
    http://www.apple.com/
and there is no link to mail.
So I click Mac. And it takes me to this:
    http://www.apple.com/mac/
Still no sign of Mail. I am looking all over this page. There is a “Why You’ll Love a Mac,” “watch ads,” .Mac, but it is not a link. Under that is a link to log in (I am already logged in but, ok, I’ll try it anyway.)
That takes me to http://www.apple.com/dotmac/. STILL NO SIGN OF MAIL! Instead, it’s a bunch of prompts for signing up for a .Mac account. (I have one and have had for three years.)
    Where is mail?

    But, Simon...
where is the link to mail?
I did use your link (as I have before) but nowhere on this page is there a link to mail. Is it hidden somewhere? Is it a secret? All I see are ads for using .Mac.
    This is what I see:
    • Tour .Mac
    • One-click web publishing
    • Photocast with iPhoto
    • Exchange files from anywhere
    • Communicate Apple style
    • Bring groups together
    • Stay in sync
    • Backup your life
    • How it works
    • .Mac in action
    • Membership options
Where the heck is Mail? And why did Apple decide to make it so difficult to find?

  • Where did the print setting "Rewrap message to fit" go in Mail 7?

Where did the print setting "Rewrap message to fit" go in Mail 7?
All text prints too small. Settings for font size haven't changed and the emails print out much smaller than the view settings.
I don't see the options for "Rewrap message to fit" or "Keep fonts the same size".
    Suggestions?

I have the same problem. Text and the info with the "To" header all prints very small. I also cannot find the controls described. Just updated to Mavericks, never had problem before this. Same printer, and problem also occurs on another different model printer I tried for a test.

  • No longer have my photos in iCloud. Where did they go? From iphone5--checked and photo stream

No longer have my photos in iCloud. Where did they go? From iphone5--checked and photo stream is turned on.

In icloud? Didn't realize there was a time limit for my icloud storage.
Photostream is separate from iCloud backups.  Were the photos part of the backup, or only part of Photostream?
If they were part of the backup, then restore your device from the iCloud backup.
If they were only part of Photostream, then that is, again, temporary storage, for up to 30 days.  After 30 days, the photos may or may not be available.

  • On My Mac mail; where did it go?

I had to do a total  reinstall to reset some software problems. I used a G-drive back up to reinstall all of my info and applications, docs, pics, music etc. When I opened Apple Mail...my iCloud account was there...but where did my ON MY Mac mail go? I had seaved impportant mail there!

If you are lucky, you might be able to restore individual messages. To do it, open Mail and then, open the Time Machine application (in /Applications/Utilities). Then, choose the backup you want at the right and you will be able to select messages and restore them.
After restoring them, they will appear in "Recovered Messages" in the Mail sidebar, under "On my Mac"

  • Mavericks Mail won't auto check

I have Mail preferences set to check Mail every five minutes which it has done correctly forever. Just yesterday, I noticed it is no longer checking mail automatically. I have to check manually in order to retrieve new emails. (I have set and reset the mail-check preference choice to no avail.)
I assume maybe a preferences file has gotten corrupted (?). Is there a pref file I can delete that might allow me to restor auto-check in Mail without it deleting all my other Mail settings?
    Thanks for any help,
    WK

    Hi William,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you are encountering this symptom:
For some email providers, new email messages in Mail may only appear to arrive when Mail is first opened. No new email arrives until Mail is quit and reopened.
You may want to verify this by testing the workaround in this article:
OS X: New email messages not received until Mail is quit and reopened

    Best,
