Where did my Books categories go?

Installed iTunes 11. Why does iTunes keep getting worse? Not my major question.
My books are now in a long list, or really my pdfs. I had a variety of camera manuals all sorted out and that all seems gone now.

Have you tried clicking on the buttons at the top? You can select Audiobook, Books (e-books) and PDFs along with the List view which shows them all. The List view can still be organized by clicking on the proper header for the column you wish to sort by. The other categories can be sorted by clicking the View/View Options or Command - J.

I created a book, and uploaded it to be produced as a hardcover book. Now, I can't find the original file in iPhoto. Where did it go, and can I get the file back from Apple?

When I got my IPAD 2 it had $30. On it, I bought a book, Steve Jobs, where did it go?

If the same audio book that I bought. on the iPad will be under the Music app > More > Audio Books.
On iTunes on the computer it will be under Books > Audio Books.

Where did my books go on my iPhone?

I have 49 books on iBooks. Yesterday 39 disappeared on my iPhone but not on my iPad. I see all 49 books in the books folder in iTunes and the sync all books box is checked. Today I have synced multiple times trying to recover missing books, restarted the iPhone and restored to factory settings; now I have nine of 49 books. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Okay - problem solved - some how the books that were not loaded on my iPhone had become unchecked in the purchased folder. They were showing up everywhere else but still would not download into iBooks. Problem solved - maybe this will help others.

I had similar troubles on my iPhone 5 (iOS 7) with some audiobooks. Tried redownloading, reported problems, etc. nothing worked. Even more confusing, I could 'see' it in the On This IPhone in iTunes, but couldn't even see the audiobooks button in iTunes (on the phone).
I ended up searching for it by name, from my iPhone home screen (by swiping down, it may be called spotlight?), and where it reads 'Search this iPhone', I just started typing the name of the book, and there it was.
Not the most elegant solution, but so far all three of the books that I've bought are there.

My Address book was wiped out after updating. Where did it go so I can get my addresses back?

I was cleaning up my Address book and the entire list disappeared. Where did it go? I can't find it.

Could be many things, we should start with this...

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)

4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

What app did you download it into via 'open in' in the Mail app ? If you downloaded it into the iBooks app then it should show in the bookshelf in the app (assuming that it's compatible with the app i.e. if it was bought from Apple or it's a digital-rights-management free epub).

Where did my iWeb go?

I bought my iMac about a month ago and thought today would be a good day to play with iWeb. However, it is no longer located on my computer. That, and Garage Band has also disappeared. What the ****? I know it's not a trial version. My iMac came with Mac OS 10.5 and iLife. I know it was here when I first got my computer. Where did it go?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Look in the Applications folder for those applications. If they are there just drag them back to the dock.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Import From Elements - where did it go

I noticed that the Michael Tapes 'Import' video showed an 'Import From Elements' menu item on the file menu. I have the 4.1 beta installed and this item does not appear in the file menu. Where did it go or is there another way to import a PSE catalog straight into LR.

I'm hoping that this whole process is unnecessary. By seeing the "Import from Elements" option, I am currently hoping/assuming that this means it will import the actual PSE Organizer catalog into LR. PSE Organizer uses .psa files for each catalog. I am hoping that by selecting the "Import from Elements" options, LR will take your .psa file (Photoshop Elements Organizer Catalog) and convert it into a .aglib file (Lightroom Library). The tags, categories and subcategories should be converted to the Lightroom equivalent of keywords, parent keywords, and child keywords (or whatever they're called in LR). In doing this, there should be no preparation of anything in PSE Organizer. If I'm understanding what Susan just said she did, it seems that the actions you just took Susan by making everything a category just took away all hierarchical tags (or parent/child information), for their is no heirarchy in the IPTC keywords fields, unless I'm mistaken.
Once again, I'm assuming this is how it will work and I hope I'm right . . . any other way just doesn't seem to make any sense. The "Import from Elements" option would not be needed if you've already embedded all of your tags into the files (or made all of your tags into categories and embedded that). If that information is already embedded in the file, then just import the files through the typical import dialog and it will find that information. There is no need to worry about the catalog or the "Import from Elements" command at all. My hope is that I don't need to do this and I can just convert the catalog on the fly (much like when you upgrade from say PSE Organizer version 3 to PSE Organizer version 5). Regardless, I will wait until LR is released before I take any steps to start the conversion process. I don't want to compomise something that I've spent years creating and works great already because I'm guessing or assuming how something may or may not work. I guess we shall all know soon enough (or even sooner if a final release tester can confirm this in any way).

Where did the "Save As" choice go under File in the menu bar?

Running recently installed Lion OS with iWork '09 on my Intel iMac there is no "Save As" under File menu. Where did it go? What do I do instead? Also iWork '09 Apple Training Series book says Keynote Custom Themes created should be backed up and will be found in Macintosh HD> Users> [your home folder]> Library> Application support> iWork> Keynote> Themes. There is no Library folder in my home folder! There used to be. Where could it have gone? Where *are* the Keynote themes hiding? They come forth from somewhere when called for. And I'm having no success in finding them via Spotlight either.

Well, if you want to Save as a PDF, that's a different issue: simply go to File > Print. In the Print window, go to the bottom left and click on PDF, then on save as PDF..... give it a name and place where you want to save it:
If you want to save in a format other than PDF, choose Export and you'll have several choices (including PDF as well).

If you downloaded it from the ibookstre then it should be in the iBooks app - in iBooks you've got 'Books' selected via the Collection button at the top of the bookshelf ? And does the ibook show as 'downloaded' when you tap on the Store button at the top left of the iBooks app and then go into the Purchased tab at the bottom ?
Have you tried closing iBooks app completely and seeing if the book shows when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the iBooks app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iBooks app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I uploaded a lot of important pictures to iPhoto, after downloading them I deleted them off my memory card. Now, iPhoto will not let me look at the pictures and the album in which I put them is empty. Where did they go? What should I do? Help please!

Check to make sure the iPhoto Advanced preferences are set to copy photos into the library when importing, i.e. a "managed" library:
If it is and you don't see any thumbnail in the Event they should be in apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with
Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If you are unable to get iPhoto to recover the photos MediaRECOVER can be used on the memory card to recover the photos as long a they haven't been overwritten. It will run in demo mode so you can see if it will recover the photo before you have to purchase it.

Im here regarding my memory usage. i checked my memory and calculated it but it doesn't show as the amount i calculated. it gives me more 7GB. i dont understand where did it go. Can someone please explain to me?

what i mean is my ipad shows used memory is 16gb but after i added up myself it is not that value. i calculated 10gb. who can help me to explain where did i use my another 6 gb.

Connect the iPad to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
How does that agree with what is shown on the iPad? How large is the "other"?

What did you do to or with your old iPad?
Did you look to see if they are in your iTunes library on your computer or are you a "non-syncer"? If they are in iTunes - sync again with iTunes.
If you are a "non-syncer" - download them again using the same ID that you bought them with. Go to the purchased tab in iBooks and see if they are in there - if they are - download them again.
