Where did my brightness slider bar go????

Hi all, I have a macbook 13.3 thats having issues with the brightness. It seems to just be too bright and the blacks just don't look right. My friend showed me on his Macbook Pro how to change the brightness using the slider bar in the display preferences but I don't seem to have one. My F1 and F2 keys aren't changing the settings either so I am stumped. Any suggestions on how to go about lowering the brightness or why I don't seem to have a slider bar to adjust my screen?? Any help wold be appreciated, thanks ahead.

System Preferences/Displays-Display Tab...no slider bar? Hmm...I'm stumped. Also the F1 without hitting fn doesn't do it? wow I'd re-install OSX from your install disk or visit a genius.

Where did the 'sending mail' bar go?

I remember at some point, when I sent a msg with an attachment, there used to be a bar which would fill on the bottom lefthand side of the window showing how much of the message had been sent. Once it would fill (indicating that 100% of the msg was sent), Mail would ding and the msg would appear in my sent folder. Where oh where did this 'sent mail' bar go?

at the bottom left (of your complete macmail window), you see a plus sign, an +arrow in a square box+ and a preferences cog wheel. click on the middle arrow in square box), the mail activity window will slide up, and you can see what is happening again.

Why are my tabs so huge and where did the google search bar go?

I know this isn't a big deal but I'm just not used to any of this. I like my search bar in the top left corner and I like my tabs all equally sized. Can someone please tell me what is going on? Can I fix this?

The tab size is well, awful, but that's the size they are for now.

Where did the "Stop" button go on the Navigation Bar in ff4? It isn't included in the Customize box. Is there anyway to install the "Stop" button for loading web pages or is this option compeletly gone from Firefox now?

Just installed upgrade to Firefox 4.0. Where did the "Stop" button go on the Navigation Bar. I checked the Customize dialogue box and it isn't included. Is anyone else missing it? It was a very helpful button and allowed us users to stop a web page and move on if it wasn't what we needed.

In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. Suddenly the bottom part of the browser window, under the slide bar, has vanished. I can't see where it says Done, or a website name or all the icons on the right side

I did something that changed my viewing screen and cannot correct it. It ssems that my screen is too big for the monitor. Ihave a lot of blank space on the left side and cannot view my side slide bar on the right side-how can i adjust the screen

Where did the "Save As" choice go under File in the menu bar?

Running recently installed Lion OS with iWork '09 on my Intel iMac there is no "Save As" under File menu. Where did it go? What do I do instead? Also iWork '09 Apple Training Series book says Keynote Custom Themes created should be backed up and will be found in Macintosh HD> Users> [your home folder]> Library> Application support> iWork> Keynote> Themes. There is no Library folder in my home folder! There used to be. Where could it have gone? Where *are* the Keynote themes hiding? They come forth from somewhere when called for. And I'm having no success in finding them via Spotlight either.

Well, if you want to Save as a PDF, that's a different issue: simply go to File > Print. In the Print window, go to the bottom left and click on PDF, then on save as PDF..... give it a name and place where you want to save it:
If you want to save in a format other than PDF, choose Export and you'll have several choices (including PDF as well).

Increasing width and color of slider bars

I've tried searching for this one and haven't come up with anything, so, at the risk of bringing up a topic that's been already answered somewhere else (please if so, tell me where) here goes:
I want to center images at higher magnifications. Just because you can put your cursor
on the IMAGE and use the scroll wheel to make it go up and down doesn't mean you can make the image go right and left at the same time. Personally, I'd like to continue to use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out (done in preferences, yes) and put the cursor on either the vertical and horizontal slider bars and use the wheel to move the image up or down or right or left. But if you've ever tried to place your cursor on these narrow-*** slider bars you know it's hell to hit those things very
easily because they are barely 1/4" wide--if that.
So the question remains: How can a user increase the width
of these narrow little bars? Is there a way to do this?
Also the color of the bars is very near the same color and value as the
area surrounding it, making it difficult to see. Is it possible to alter the
color of the bars to something more visible, like say, a brighter color and/or different value

Wolf, thanks for the reply. Perhaps it is a matter of my non-grasp of the terminology/nomenclature of the various parts of the photoshop
viewing area. What I am saying is that the slider bars on the right and the bottom of the panel (making the image go up and down and right and left respectively) are quite narrow and are the exact same color/value as the corresponding white background of most of my images, making this narrow bar difficult to see on a laptop 3' away and even more difficult to put the cursor on easily.
When you put your cursor on the image itself, I prefer to increase/decrease the magnification as set in preferences.
when you put your cursor on the slider bar on the right side and scroll with the mouse wheel, the image goes up and down. When you put your cursor on the bottom slider bar and scroll with the mouse wheel, the image moves right or left.
However, these aforesaid bars are so narrow that it's a pain in the a** to put the cursor on them to start with. Now, if these slider
bars could be made WIDER (and even perhaps a different color from the
area directly adjacent to it most of the time) it would be easier
to perform the tasks described above.
So I am simply trying to find out (because I have looked and looked) if perhaps these bars can be made wider. This is what Jeff was originally asking and represents to me an easier solution in that one has only to use one's mouse instead of using another hand and hitting shortcut keys and changing modes, etc.

How do I turn off and on the icon size slider bar at the lower right status bar of a folder window.

I have been trying for days to help a friend with a new iMac to turn on the icon size slider bar that on my iMac appears at the bottom of ever folder when it is open when in the "view" > "icon" mode. I cannot find anything that discusses this slider bar. I can turn this status bar off and on on both my machine and my friends machine, but I cannot turn off or on the slider on either machine.

This did not help. I am a Mac User since 1984 and generally I am never stymied buy the Mac OS, but this one has me. I can open and close the lower status bar, as you described, and that works fine for me because I have the icon slider bar already there and it works fine; however when I open the lower status bar on my friends machine there is no icon size slider bar, and I can't seem to find out how to get it there, as it is on my machine or at all. The icon size can be controlled from the View menu, but as a photographer, it is really handy to have it at the bottom of the folder window. Thanks for trying.

Iphone 6 plus slide bar not working

My iphone 6 plus slide bar would not work. I couldn't turn phone off, couldn't do anything except use Siri. Used Siri to face time a friend to ask for help but for some reason once she answered my phone unlocked. Have no idea why. Hope this helps someone.

So, that makes my iPhone 6 Plus, my girls iPhone 6 and my fathers iPhone 5S not flashing LED on messages and sometimes calls. There aren't any custom vibrations enabled on any if the devices. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is it a known bug or am I just not doing something right here? i never had an issue before the iOS 8 release. Any help would be appreciated.

my requirement is like, i have month and some measures in a chart i want to set month in a slider bar if am moving slider according to that values should be change in chart.

You could try the following.
Pull the month dimension values into an object, where each dimension value is assigned to a "numeric" (air quotes, actually a string) attribute.
Something along the lines of:
var myMonths = new Object();
myMonths["0"] = <month0_key>;
myMonths["1"] = <month1_key>;
Then, you assign the range slider a set of numeric values, from 0 to n, where n is the last attribute in myMonths. When the user changes the slider values and the OnChange is fired, use the numeric values of the current slider positions to get the appropriate range filter values out of myMonths.
I've not tried this yet, so I don't yet know what pitfalls you'd run into.

Is your airplay device connected to the same WIFI network as your ipad? I would restart the ipad and the device if they are. And, are you sure your accessing the icon by double tapping the home button and swiping to the right in the multi task bar?
