Where Did My Contacts Go...

So here is the deal...I needed to wipe my mac and do a clean install of ML cause my imac was acting up a little bit. I backed everything up using Time Machine but did not restore it cause my mac has been running smooth as ever. When I synced itunes with my iphone, itunes erased all my contacts. I thought I followed all the right steps with syncing with a new itunes account but apparantly something went wrong cause all my contacts went missing(and I also noticed it didn't back up all my apps...a few were missing).
I have my contacts backed up on ~Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Metadata folder in TM, I just can't get them back into the Contacts application. I tried a drag and drop, I tried to import, and I tried to copy all the files from the TM backup to the metadata folder in my hard drive and nothing worked.
Is there anything else I can do?
Any help is much appreciated.

Go up one level: you need everything in that AddressBook folder. Make sure Contacts is closed; copy the backup folder over, and relaunch Contacts.

I am having an interesting issue with the Contacts application on my Mac Mini.
This app used to work fine. However, sometime in the past month—after setting up iCloud for Calendar and Reminders—the Contacts application simply disappeared. I have searched the entire hard drive via Spotlight to no avail.
In the pre-Mountain Lion days, I would simply use my installation DVD and reinstall the app from the “optional installs” image. Unfortunately, I do not have such luxuries with the Mini.
I would really like to have my Contacts app once more. Does anyone have any idea what happened?

Often when people think they've deleted an application, what's really happened is that they deleted its icon from the Dock. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Applications from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. If the application is in that folder, drag it to the Dock (not to the Desktop or anywhere else.) The other Dock icons will move out of the way to make a place for it.

Where did "edit contacts" function go on the contacts menu for 2.1 firmware upgrade

My wife's HTC Eris just got the OTA 2.1 firmware update. When editing a contact in the past with the phone, she would select the contact, then hit the menu button. That would bring up several options, including one to edit the contact. The the edit contact function has disappeared from the choices with the 2.1 upgrade. Any ideas/suggestions?

The edit is still there...in the People app...
select contact
pick the "rolodex" icon
menu->edit
However, if THAT contact is a Facebook contact, then you can't edit it.
You can view your sync'ed contacts ar the ROOT People screen [ MENU --> VIEW ]

Where did my contacts phone numbers go when i backed up to the cloud?

When I backed up my iphone to the cloud my contacts phone numbers disappeared from my phone and the cloud.

Is back up and sync the same thing?
No. Syncing transfers iTunes content to your devices. Backing up stores all data (minus iTunes content) that you have on your phone, and can be loaded onto a different device or reloaded onto an existing device.
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Let the device power down and back up. Go through the setup screen and DO NOT select restore from iTunes backup. Instead, choose iCloud backup, sign in with your Apple ID and select the correct backup.

Last week all my contacts showed up in my list. I tried to delete a user I didn't want and now a lot of my contacts aren't there. Does anyone know how to restore them?

Can you see your Contacts when you login to the icloud.com website? When they are there, I suggest to switch of the icloud contact in the iphone settings and switch them on afterwards again

The iTunes app cannot disappear ... it may be on a different screen.
Regardless, you can force it to your home screen by doing:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout

On a computer go to iTunes>Store>View Account>Sign in and go to purchased history and see if you actually purchased them.

Where are my contacts?!

This used to be real simple.....
Ok I was having a problem with my iPhone not syncing my music properly so I was advised to to a restore which I did. I did it as a new phone, not from the back up.
I now can't find any of my contacts. I thought the iPhone automatically backed up. I was backing up to my computer. I found my address book on my computer and it has one contact out of 100....sigh... I have numerous back ups of Time Machine and manual ones but I can not find a file that has the past 3 years of contacts.

OK I was able to download all my contacts from Gmail but just want phone numbers and there are many I don't want at all. How can I edit and now back up these contacts on my Mac so I have a secure copy somewhere I know?

No. Itunes generally keepos the past backup. Contacts aredesigned to be synced to your computer. I'm not sure that they are backed up at all, *** you should be syncing them to your computer.

Backing up and syncing are not really the same. You should never have any information in only one place ( e.g. your contacts should never just be on your iphone). The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer. You would have to make these selections when you set up the iphone sync.

Where are the contacts now? If you do not have them anywhere, then they are gone. Have you tried to restore from backup?

No. It is all or nothing.
"Backed up" is not accurate. Your contatcs should live on your computer and be synced with your iphone. You should also back up your entire computer regularly.

Where did the notes on my ipad go after i set up icloud?

i set up icloud last night between my mac, ipad and iphone. All notes i had on my ipad and my iphone since 2/23/12 are missing? I've looked in entourage, gmail, icloud--where did they go?

I was browsing and I saw your post. The way I got my contacts and addresses back was by going to SETTINGS on my iPhone, then to mail, then to my email account and truned all of the settings to ON. I then went to iCloud on my computer, signed in and turned all of the setting to ON. Next, I went to iCloud on my iPhone and turned all of those settings ON. My contacts and addresses reappeared. I had to experiment to get to this solution. The Apple instructions did not explain enough for me to conf
This worked for me, but then again, I tried so many different things, that I may have left something out on how I got iCloud reconfigured to work properly. Good Luck.

Where did my backup go?

So i decided to update itunes and ios on my iphone 4 using my old laptop as my current one kept giving me an error saying the session could not be started.
when i first connected my phone to my old laptop, i specifically did a manual backup and it took quite a while but was apparently successful. so ahead i go and download itunes and the new ios, install everything and then i get a "an unknown error (-50) has occurred" ARGH! so i click ok, and it wants to restore. except the back up i did is not there?????????? where did it go? have i lost it forever?? the last backup on that laptop was in april, so i've just lost a good 6months worth of apps, data, contacts, messages, pictures etc.
is there any way i can get it back??? please help!!!

Where did the search feature go in iOS7? Search the device as well as select search to web or Wikipedia.

After installing iOS7 on my iPhone 5 and iPad Mini there is no Search Function for info on the device and the option to search the Web or Wikipedia. Where did this useful search feature go. It would list every contact, calendar entry, email containing the search term. Now that first page / panel is gone. Help!
