Where did my keyword tags go?

How can I retrieve the keyword tags that did not transfer from my old computer to my new one?  They people are listed under "People" but the categoriy and sub-catagories are not listed in the right keyword sidebar.

Neale, sorry, I didn't tell you I have PSE 11.  I have a complete
catalog backup of PSE 11 on an external drive.  I had a technician do
the transfer of everything from my old computer to the new; the old one
is gone. All the tags came over into the right sidebar except People.  I
had created subcategories "Family" and "Friends" under "People."  Under
People in the top menu line (Media, People, Places, Events) the people
are all listed, with their tags, including People -- no Family, no
Friends -- so I know they are still tagged, just would like to have the
People listing in the right sidebar like everything else.
Would I have any luck restoring the entire catalog from the backup off
the old computer and ending up with all the tags (for 13,000+ photos)
showing up in the sidebar?  Would I lose the 37 photos and 3 videos
taken since the date of the backup?
I'm not very knowledgeable about Photoshop.  But since People is one of
its built-in tags, like Places and Events, I don't know how I lost it.
Thanks so much for your response and any additional help you can give.

  • Moving from PSE12 to LR...where are my keyword tags?

    I was a heavy user of keyword tags in PSE...including nested tags and setting up my own categories.   When I "upgraded" my PSE catalog to LR, many of the PSE tags didn't show up in LR.  Also, for some of the tags that did show up they pointed to only a few of the images that the tag pointed to in PSE.
    Any ideas?  Help will be appreciated.

    OK..here's where we are----
    File>New Catalog
    navigated to drive where I want the catalog
    set u new folder  "New LR Catalog"

    closed that dialog
    File>Upgrade
    correctly pointing to PSE catalog location
    pressed CHANGE on LR catalog destination (which of course was pointed to

  • Keyword tags did not transfer from PSE when I installed PSE 11. What can I do?

    I installed PSE 11 and converted pictures from PSE 6 as instructed, but the keyword tags did not transfer. What can I do to get the tags?

    Yes, that's the right way. See if anything here helps any:

  • Import From Elements - where did it go

    I noticed that the Michael Tapes 'Import' video showed an 'Import From Elements' menu item on the file menu. I have the 4.1 beta installed and this item does not appear in the file menu. Where did it go or is there another way to import a PSE catalog straight into LR.
    Here is the video site:
    http://pictureflow.fileburst.com/_Tutorials/Photoshop_LR/01/index.html

    I'm hoping that this whole process is unnecessary. By seeing the "Import from Elements" option, I am currently hoping/assuming that this means it will import the actual PSE Organizer catalog into LR. PSE Organizer uses .psa files for each catalog. I am hoping that by selecting the "Import from Elements" options, LR will take your .psa file (Photoshop Elements Organizer Catalog) and convert it into a .aglib file (Lightroom Library). The tags, categories and subcategories should be converted to the Lightroom equivalent of keywords, parent keywords, and child keywords (or whatever they're called in LR). In doing this, there should be no preparation of anything in PSE Organizer. If I'm understanding what Susan just said she did, it seems that the actions you just took Susan by making everything a category just took away all hierarchical tags (or parent/child information), for their is no heirarchy in the IPTC keywords fields, unless I'm mistaken.
    Once again, I'm assuming this is how it will work and I hope I'm right . . . any other way just doesn't seem to make any sense. The "Import from Elements" option would not be needed if you've already embedded all of your tags into the files (or made all of your tags into categories and embedded that). If that information is already embedded in the file, then just import the files through the typical import dialog and it will find that information. There is no need to worry about the catalog or the "Import from Elements" command at all. My hope is that I don't need to do this and I can just convert the catalog on the fly (much like when you upgrade from say PSE Organizer version 3 to PSE Organizer version 5). Regardless, I will wait until LR is released before I take any steps to start the conversion process. I don't want to compomise something that I've spent years creating and works great already because I'm guessing or assuming how something may or may not work. I guess we shall all know soon enough (or even sooner if a final release tester can confirm this in any way).

  • Keyword tags for imported iPhone photos disappeared from LR5.7 catalog under OS 10.10.1Yosemite.

    I am using LR 5.7 on a Mac OS 10.10.1 with a Time Machine backup - the vast majority of my photos were taken on an iPhone 5 in the year 2014 and are in a folder on my computer internal hard drive.
    The structure is my Folders > Macintosh HD which has a folder inside called
    Pictures Users/myname with 1719 photos in it -
    when I click on this folder the following folders open up:
    > folder dated 1904(?) with 2 items
    > folder dated 2012 with 1 item
    > folder dated 2013 with 1 item
    > folder dated 2014 with 1352 items...
    .... and so on until
    >Exported Original Photos 365 (which are exports of photos from iPhoto that I wanted to catalog and develop in LR)
    The Maths are correct. But as for the tags:
    when I open the folder Pictures Users/myname containing 1719 photos and view them as thumbnails I see all the keywording applied to my collection of photos
    BUT when I open the folder Pictures - Users/myname and then folder 2014, I see a list:
    folder 2014 with 199 items
    folder 2014-01-20 with 1 item
    folder 2014-01-21 with 5 items
    etc
    All well and good.
    BUT if I open these dated folders with small numbers of images in them (never more than 50 per day), view the images in a grid and click on a photo, there are no keyboard tags to be seen in the information panel. They only time I see any keyword tags that I have entered is when I open Macintosh HD > Pictures - Users/myname which contains my entire library of photos taken in 2014 and those added to the catalog from iPhoto.
    Should I see tags for the photos in the individually dated folders e.g. Macintosh HD > Pictures - Users/myname > 2014 > 2014-01-20 and so on day by day ?
    I have been tagging my photos with keywords after my weekly import. And have been doing this after viewing each photo from the grid view of photos displayed by clicking on  Macintosh HD >Pictures - Users/myname.
    Have I made an error?
    I want to tag my collection of photos by the correct method before it grows in size.
    Many thanks
    David (Brighton, UK)

    Hi,
    I moused down on the "+" sign where it says Folders and "show photos in subfolders" was shown as already being "on".
    I followed your suggestion:  I tried to keyword the photo in Macintosh HD/Pictures - Users/myname/folder 2014-01-20 with 1 item however it did not permit me to type in a keyword in the keyboarding section panel on the left hand side, so I was unable to check if it stuck.
    I don't know whether this is important or not, but the list of folders, subfolders etc have slightly different arrow heads:
    If I drop down the Macintosh HD location there is a SOLID, grey downward pointing arrow to the left hand side of the folder Pictures - Users/myname/..
    However, if you drop down folders from Macintosh HD > Pictures - Users/myname/.. to show inner folders:
    Macintosh HD> Pictures - Users/myname/... > folders dated 2014-01-20 etc., then there is a horizontal triangle that is made up of grey dots rather than a solid triangle for every dated folder - is this as expected?

  • Organiser Keyword tags

    Prior to PE11, the Organiser showed Keyword  tags for e.g. Places, Events, People.
    In PE11, the People keyword is gone, replaced by a 'People tag' system which is not appropriate for the way I work. (My keyword sub-categories did not usually identify specific people).
    I would much prefer to revert to the system where 'People' is just another Keyword tag, along with Places, Events etc. Can this be done?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    (There are large numbers of images involved)

    If you upgraded the catalog from your previous version during installation of PSE11 your tags for People, Places and Events should have been imported.
    You can continue creating new keywords and assigning to one of those three categories.
    Also you may need to adjust your settings. From the media browser, make sure the tag panel is selected rather than information and then click the menu:
    View >> Show People in Tag Panel

  • A question about keyword tags

    Is it possible in settings... or somewhere, to set it so that when you open (PrE9's) organizer instead of starting with keyword hierarchy list - it could open on keyword cloud view? I am not so keen on the hierrarchy method...
    Thanks.
    brush

    I did some experimenting in the Elements 9 Organizer.
    1-- yes, when you close the Organizer then it does always seem to come up next time with the Thumbnail grid AND the Tags panel on the right is set to Hierarchy view. Then you must click on the icon for Cloud view.
    2-- my conclusion is that if I click on the Cloud icon after starting the Organizer, then it was staying as Cloud in the Keyword Tags panel to the right of the Thumbnails for the duration that the Organizer is open.
    3-- Note that if you use Full Screen for viewing your photos, then for the "Quick Organize" panel that drags out from the left side of the screen near the bottom, the default for Keyword Tags is Cloud. This is a different method of working which you may or may not like: however since it does set Cloud I decided to mention it.
    FYI - to get to Full Screen you can use the pull down menu for the Display icon (that is next to the House icon on the top bar of the main Organizer screen). Choose the option "View, Edit, Organize in Full Screen".  FYI - I usually select the thumbnails of the photos which I want to Organize before I go in to Full Screen.

  • Where did the Home Video tab go?

    I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009) running Yosemite 10.10.2 and iTunes 12.1.50.  I also have about 900+ home videos taken by my various cameras and encoded using HandBrake or iMovie over the last 10 years.  30 of these movies have been on my phone for over a year and I regularly watch them.
    I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS8.2 last night by doing a restore as if a new device.  This was recommended by a tech at the Apple Store since so much of my phone's  16GB was taken up by the operating system.  After that, I suddenly had more than 3GB more free space.  Yay!
    But - right away, I noticed that only 3 of my 30 home videos had synched.  I had those 30 in a special playlist so I wouldn't have to sort through the other 870+.  I decided to remove them from the iPhone and try again, but it didn't work.  So, I decided to remove them from the playlist and add them again.  That's when I noticed that I cannot find the Home Videos tab in iTunes on my Mac anymore.  It was there earlier last night because I had just added new ones to iTunes (visual confirmed they were in the Home Video tab once added to library).  I tried to import all 900+ home movies, and it seemed to do something - but I still can't see them.
    I tried to search for "Home Video" in the iTunes help menu - no hits.  I always use "Home Movies Favourites" as the Genre for the 30 I put on my phone, so I tried searching for that in the movie search box.  Nothing found again.  I tried searching for individual file names.  Nothing.
    So - where did Home Videos go and how can I get it back?  My files are still on the hard drive, but I have spent hundreds of hours updating the tags in iTunes with irreplaceable info like dates, locations, memories, etc.
    Apple - please stop making such drastic changes to iTunes every time we just finish getting used to your other changes!

    Hello! I said... I want the ability to input analogue video into my camcorder so I can continue to transfer VHS and input and record video from other sources. The new HD cameras on the market will not allow you to record video from any source except for the lens.
    I have HD cable box. I want to record my HD programs from cable (HBO, Starz, etc) to my camera, download the video to my Mac from the camera and then edit them in iMovie and create professional looking movie DVD's in iMovie.
    iMovie HD can work with mini DV HD cameras and HD video. I was not aware of a system requirement for working with HD content.

  • HELP Keyword Tags - Photos do not appear under Keyword

    At the moment I am just trying to get my head round how the LR works and I am looking at the Library.
    I'm using Windows XP.
    I have imported a few hundred photos and they can clearly be seen in two folders that replicate the actual folders on the hard disk.
    I have assigned a number of keywords to these photographs. However, when I want to see the photographs allocated to a particular keyword nothing appears. I get a note just above the Film Strip that says something like:
    "Keyword Tags / [Selected Keyword] / 0 of ### photos"
    LR obviosly knows that ### photos have been assigned to the selected keyword but it does not display them. I've spent hours trying to get this working and before the men in white coats come and drag me away can somebody please give some indication where I'm going wrong.
    Thanks in advance
    Brian

    I guess I have'nt played with it as much as you have, and you don't use keywords. Doesn't make sense, though keywords should be context sensitive to search a Collection or Folder rather than only all photographs. More powerful selective searching that way.
    Can't check it now because LR is tied up in a Wifi Reference import to my laptop.

  • How to implement metadata keyword tags

    Can someone please advise me on how to implement meta keyword tag <meta name="keyword" content="..."> for individual community page? We have a set of keywords for each community page. I know we can just add the line above to base page layout if they are common keywords to all the community page but not sure whats the best way to add unique set of meta keyword tags to individual community page? FYI - We are using UCM for managing content for our site.

    I always did this using a property on the page object.
    1. Create a new property called "meta-keywords" and associate it to the community pages object through the global object property mapper utility.
    2. Edit your community page and add any keywords you desire.
    3. Write a custom tag for said property that takes a uuid as input (this way you can migrate and the tag remains the same.
    4. same idea works for any meta tag.
    Note: you are limited to 255 characters this way.
    Or you can probably code some kind of tag that reads from UCM as well, but i always did it the above way.
    Here is a tag example:
    public class MetaPropertyCurrentPage extends ATag {
         private OpenLogger log = OpenLogService.GetLogger(
                   OpenLogService.GetComponent(PTDebugHelpers.COMPONENT_PORTAL_COMMON),
                   "customizations.tag.standard.MetaPropertyCurrentPage");
         public static final RequiredTagAttribute UUID;
         public static final ITagMetaData TAG;
         static {
              TAG = new TagMetaData("currpageproperty",
                        "Displays the value of the property in the current page from the uuid.");
         UUID = new RequiredTagAttribute("uuid", "The UUID for the property you want to open.",
    AttributeType.STRING);
         @Override
         public ATag Create() {
              return new MetaPropertyCurrentPage();
         @Override
         public HTMLElement DisplayTag() {
              log.Info("Entering meta lookup");

              //check if not a community page
              if (!TaskAPIUICommunity.IsCurrentPageCommunityPage(owner))

  • Unable to add Keyword Tags in Organizer PSE 9

    I am beyond frustrated at this point.  I have never run across a more buggy program than PSE9 (or 8 for that matter).  I am particularly having trouble with the organizer in PSE 9.  I have spent that last day or so tagging a catalogue of about 2000 photos when suddenly the organizer froze up.  I killed it and restarted.  Then it wouldn't even load.  So I thought to load another catalogue to see if that worked.  It loaded up just fine.  I switched to the catalogue I had had the problem with and PSE pretty much shut my computer down at that point.  So, I restarted the computer, loaded up the organizer and actually got it to open the catalogue.  I ran a repair on it.  It said that it had fixed some errors.  Great, I thought, everything is fine.  Well, no, it wasn't.  Now whenever I attempt to add a keyword tag, delete a keyword tag, or even add a caption, the organizer just gives me an error.  It is only happening on this particular catalogue.  I have repaired it, optimized it, and even regenerated the thumbnails.  I always get an error when I try to edit anything.  I can view the pictures just fine.  I can open them up from the organizer into the editor just fine.  I just can't delete, add captions or keyword tags at this point.  If I have lost the all the work I did last night and today tagging these photos, then I am going to be mighty mad.  If anyone has any suggestions, then please let me know.  I don't want to think that I have wasted time, and most of all, money on this program.  Thanks.

  • Cannot edit or add keyword tags

    I'm getting this strange behvior and cannot figure out why.
    In the Keywording panel, the rectangle where you can enter or edit keyword tags shows a white border.  Tags cannot be added or changed.  The dropdown above the box is set to Enter Keywords.
    Not sure to how restore editing ability.
    Thank you,
    Robert

    Robert,
    Exiting and re-opening Lightroom is said to work. This bug has been described here before, but no one has been able to pin down the sequence of operations that causes it. If you can find a consistent way of making it happen, we'd love to hear, and the good folks at Adobe would be glad to hear as well.
    Most of the work in fixing a bug is finding a way to consistently reproduce it.

  • I seem to be unable to find the list of keyword tags - HELP!

    I have been using keyword tags for years in previous versions of Photoshop Elements.  In version 12 at first I noticed that they were harder to apply.  But now, something has happened that has removed the list of tags.  How do I get them back??? (and where do I find out how to use them easily)?

    Hi,
    If you don't want to use the map functions then probably the best thing is to use keyword tags.
    Switch to Media view click on the + next to Keywords and select New Category. Give it a name like My Places.
    If you want to create a hierarchy of say continents, Click on the + again and select New Sub-Category. Give it a name of a continent and make sure that the parent is set to My Places.
    You can create the tree structure as you want.
    Finally, click on the + and select New Keyword Tag. Give it the name of the place that you want and check that the category is set to its parent in the chain.
    You could end up with this type of thing
    My Places
         Sub Cat 1
              Place 1
         Sub Cat 2
              sub Cat 2-1
                  Place 2
              sub Cat 2-2
                   Place 3
    I hope that makes sense - good luck

  • Keyword Tags in PSE11

    I have a problem with the keyword tags in PSE11.
    Problem Statement:
    When a keyword tag is selected, the resulting subset of photos includes images that are not tagged with the selected keyword. The non-matched items that are displayed all have a distinguishing symbol – a non-match icon
    However this behaviour is inconsistent.  There are many other non match photos that are completely suppressed, so why are these ones being displayed with a ‘non-match’ icon?
    Steps Taken:
    I have tried repairing the catalog.  The system tells me there are no inconsistencies but I use the ‘repair anyway’ option to force a repair.  This has no effect.
    Through the help system I discovered this document:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/crx/kb/HowToCheckLuceneIndex.html
    This document contains instructions on how to delete the index files to force the system to rebuild them.  Unfortunately none of the files and path names specified in the instructions  exist on my system so this is a non-starter.  Q. Does the process differ for my version (PSE 11)?
    I am flummoxed as to what is going on and would appreciate some help please.  TIA

    I'm just off fo bed as I am in the UK.  I guess you're US maybe West Coast?  Let's figure out a time to discuss.  08:00 your time is 4 pm mine if you're on Pacific time.
    I'd be delighted if it was a usage error.  Let's ne direct and say user error!  Because that would be the easiest thing to resolve.  But I still remain unconvonced because I am seeing different behaviour between Picasa and PSE.  In a further attenpt to solve this issue today PSE 11 I wrote the metadata out to the files to see if that would make any difference to PSE.  It did not.  And then I let Picasa read that data to see if it did there, and it did not.
    I just opened the file info about one of the non match photos that appears when the tag is selected,  The same tags appear in the IPTC info as appear on the bottom right corner of the individual phto in the PSE views, and NONE of them isthe major tag that I selected as a filter.  Ergo the inclusion must be because of something inherent in the Catalog wouldn't you say?  Something related to the data that PSE holds outside the EXIF data.  The same filter applied in Picasa does not include these non match images - which would seem to confoirm that it is PSE11-side that teh issue is occuring.
    To be clear, I do NOT have the option switched on to show non-match results and I have even toggled that on and off to see if it would make a difference.
    What is perfectly possible, altough I cannot say for sure that it applies in this case, is that at some stage the files DID carry the tag on which I was filtering but that I removed it.  I can't recall doing so specifically, but often when a batch rage contains a vase majority to which a tag applies, I will tage the lot then untag the ones to which the overall tag does not apply.  Thts's sometimes quicker than delecting teh non compliant items.  Could there be an artifact?
