Where did my Programs Go?

Yesterday I installed Firefox to use as my Browser, and Adium for chat.
Used them all day - they were down in my Dock.
This morning I turned computer on & neither program is in the Dock. Nor is either on shown in Applications. Doing a FIND I was able to find the download of Firefox & could start that up. It started with al my settings from yesterday. But still canot find Adium.
And I am SURE that I do NOT need to install my browser every time I turn on my computer. What did I not do to get this browser to stay on & stay in Dock?
Ditto for my chat program.
And when the computer came on it did not ask for a User nor a Password. Wasn't it supposed to do that? Instead it opened to my account, but with the Dock set the way it was before I made lots of changes to it yesterday.
I must be missing a SAVE function somewhere.
Help!!!!
Thank you

If you have got the applications safely in the Applications folder then you can eject the .dmg files (they have an icon like a disk drive), when you drag them the trash will become an eject sign just drop the icon on the eject icon.
If you are the only User then yes it will boot directly to you. It will only give you a choice of Users (once they're added) if you log out before shutting down, otherwise it will automatically boot to your account.

Includes iTunes, Time Machine, Quick Look, Spaces, Spotlight, Dashboard, Mail, iChat, Safari, Address Book, QuickTime, iCal, DVD Player, Photo Booth, Front Row, Xcode Developer Tools and more. If your iMac doesn't ship with OS X Mountain Lion installed, you can get your copy free with our Up-to-Date program.

  • Foxfire 4 removed some of my programs. Where did they go?

I used to have a program that kept track of my passwords, created new ones when needed, etc. When I installed Foxfire 4, it disappeared. Where did it go?

What add-on or program was it? You can open the "Add-ons" manager (choose "Add-ons" from the Firefox menu or the Tools menu) and see which add-ons are disabled.
Add-ons must be tested and updated before they can be used with new versions of Firefox. There may be updates for your add-ons, or alternate add-ons you can use with Firefox 4.

  • Where did the Home Video tab go?

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009) running Yosemite 10.10.2 and iTunes 12.1.50.  I also have about 900+ home videos taken by my various cameras and encoded using HandBrake or iMovie over the last 10 years.  30 of these movies have been on my phone for over a year and I regularly watch them.
I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS8.2 last night by doing a restore as if a new device.  This was recommended by a tech at the Apple Store since so much of my phone's  16GB was taken up by the operating system.  After that, I suddenly had more than 3GB more free space.  Yay!
But - right away, I noticed that only 3 of my 30 home videos had synched.  I had those 30 in a special playlist so I wouldn't have to sort through the other 870+.  I decided to remove them from the iPhone and try again, but it didn't work.  So, I decided to remove them from the playlist and add them again.  That's when I noticed that I cannot find the Home Videos tab in iTunes on my Mac anymore.  It was there earlier last night because I had just added new ones to iTunes (visual confirmed they were in the Home Video tab once added to library).  I tried to import all 900+ home movies, and it seemed to do something - but I still can't see them.
I tried to search for "Home Video" in the iTunes help menu - no hits.  I always use "Home Movies Favourites" as the Genre for the 30 I put on my phone, so I tried searching for that in the movie search box.  Nothing found again.  I tried searching for individual file names.  Nothing.
So - where did Home Videos go and how can I get it back?  My files are still on the hard drive, but I have spent hundreds of hours updating the tags in iTunes with irreplaceable info like dates, locations, memories, etc.
Apple - please stop making such drastic changes to iTunes every time we just finish getting used to your other changes!

Hello! I said... I want the ability to input analogue video into my camcorder so I can continue to transfer VHS and input and record video from other sources. The new HD cameras on the market will not allow you to record video from any source except for the lens.
I have HD cable box. I want to record my HD programs from cable (HBO, Starz, etc) to my camera, download the video to my Mac from the camera and then edit them in iMovie and create professional looking movie DVD's in iMovie.
iMovie HD can work with mini DV HD cameras and HD video. I was not aware of a system requirement for working with HD content.

  • Where did the analogue in feature go?

Where did the analogue in feature go?
None of the HD cameras I have searched for have a analogue input. In fact, I have found only one MD camera that has that capability.

  • Where did Wi-Fi Scan go in OS 10.8.4?

I realize that Wi-Fi Diagnostics was replaced by Wireless Diagnostics in 10.8.4 but where did Wi-Fi Scan go?  It was a sub-program of Wi-Fi Diagnostics and I would have thought that it would not have vanished completely from Wireless Diagnostics.  On any given day there are 10-15 visible Wi-Fi networks in my community and sometimes I find myself competing with others using the same radio channel that my Time Capsule is set to.  If I were experiencing a problem I used Wi-Fi Scan to find a channel that was not being used.  Theoretically, setting the Wireless Options in Airport Utility to Automatic should aleviate co-channel interferrence between my Time Capsule's automatic settings and those of my neighbors but that was not always the case.  I found that manually finding an unused channel works best for my Time Capsule.

If you look below you will see that I have the older and newer Wi-Fi Scans installed.  The older Wi-Fi Scan did show the hidden networks but not the names.  My network is hidden and it shows my network with a ✓ mark next to where the name would normally be.  It shows both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. If I click on the Menu Wi-Fi signal indicator and force the system to "Look for Networks..." with the Wi-Fi Scan window open Wi-Fi Scan does a scan on its own since it seems to always be in the Active mode from the time you open it.  Once it re-scans it sees my network names and displays them.  I am unsure if it does this for others in my neighborhood because I don't see any other hidden networks.
The new Wi-Fi Scan that is located in OS 10.8.4 is not Active when it is first opened.  You have to tell it to perform a scan.  After it scans it sometimes shows my hidden network and its name but it only shows the 2.4 GHz network and not the 5 GHz network.  I said sometimes because it does not always display my network. I have yet to do a scan and see my 5 GHz network or any other 5 GHz network in my neighborhood. I'm not sure it is scanning for 5 GHz networks.
I'm sure the idea was to make both the older and newer Wi-Fi Scans work the similarly.  They are not identicle and are only similar in appearance.  Their scan results are never the same, they are only similar.

  • Where did they all go?

Ok when I first got my Ipod Nano a week before my birthday, mid November. My mom and I went to visit my Dad in Alabama. (I live in Texas) I got my Ipod Nano and I started working with the software on his computer. I got about thirteen songs. I come home, insert the software and the Nano and succesfully download ten more songs onto my Itunes Library. Now I'm ready to put on these ten new songs. So I disconnect and reconnect the Nano and it give me these little boxes of stuff that say that I'm unauthorized to play these songs on this computer. While my Nano is saying not to disconnect. So I just click ok. I get out of Itunes and all that, to the point that my Ipod no longer flashing "Do not disconnect." I look at my Ipod and those thirteen songs are GONE. Without a trace. So I restarted my computer and downloaded the ten songs. Now where did those thirteen songs go? How can I get them back? They aren't in my library. I just don't know. Any ideas would be helpful.

      Windows 2000

Several ways to 'merge' the two Libraries:
    - Burn the 13 music files to a CD or DVD (even a floppy disk) and copy them into your PC
    - Use a USB 'Flash' drive to copy over the songs
    - Use the iPod as a transfer device, as this extensive Apple link explains
    - Network the two PCs and directly copy the files
    - Sync the files to the iPod and use a recovery program to extract them from the iPod to your PC: See http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1293794#1293794
The first two options would be the easiest. The others are there just for completeness and 'giggles'.
Shouldn't be too hard. Best of Luck

  • Mini player for video podcasts? Where did it go?

I am having problems with the newest version of iTunes (11.1.2). Before, when I wanted to relegate a video podcast to the corner of my screen where it was viewable but didn't take up all of my screen space, I would click on the small rectangular miniplayer icon and get that - a small version of the video playing in the upper left hand corner of my screen.
Now if I double-click on a video podcast to launch it  it takes up much of the screen. Clicking on the miniplayer in that window goes to the grey rectangular miniplayer used for music, and in fact starts playing either a radio station (where did that come from?) or some other music. Not even the sound from the video podcast. Reverting back to the square shaped miniplayer with the program icon doesn't change that. There doesn't seem to be a way of playing a video podcast in a small window. The right button on top switches between full screen view and most-of-the-screen view. In older versions of iTunes that used to evoke the miniplayer, and video podcasts would shrink to a small view in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
Is there any way to solve this problem? I often want to watch video podcasts while also doing something else and the current screen-hogging doesn’t let me do that.
MacBook Pro 13" late 2009 running OSX 10.6.8. iTunes 11.1.2

Well, upgrading to ITunes 11.1.3 didn't solve the problem. It helped, in the sense that now I can get the square mini player and a still image of the video podcast, and the sound from the podcast works, but the image doesn't move.
I tried trashing the iTunes Preferences, hoping perhaps one was corrupt, but that didn't solve the problem either. I am now wondering if this is an OS glitch. While iTunes runs on OSX 10.6.8 (SL), which is what I use, it has problems, which perhaps don't appear in more recent OSs.
Can anyone confirm that on a machine running OSX 10.6.8 he/she has iTunes 11.1.3 with the mini player successfully running video podcasts?
    thanks

  • HT4910 I can't find my notes in my iCloud account. I checked my iPhone 4, and it says that they are still being saved to the iCloud. Where did they go?

I can't find my notes in my iCloud account. I checked my iPhone 4, and it says that they are still being saved to the iCloud. Where did they go?

I'm not familiar with the PC end of things, but in a recent post I read about someone using notes.exe to access notes (I'm assuming they knew what they were talking about) - would your installation of icloud app(s) include a notes program?  At least do this, log into icloud.com with a computer browser and look in mail.  There should be a notes "folder" listed along with the others you may have defined.  Are you notes there?  If not, that's the problem.  Be sure notes is turned on in Settings>icloud on your device.  if they are there, then it looks like the PC end is the problem - but I can't provide help concerning that.

public static Collection getPhoneticMatches(final PersistenceManager pm,

  • Where did iDVD go?

Where did iDVD go?  How do I access iDVD?  I used to just drag my mp4's straight into iDVD and create my DVD's but it is no longer available.  Help!

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.
