Where did the iTunes COM SDK go?

I was going to go download the iTunes COM SDK, originally at http://developer.apple.com/sdk/, but it appears that when you click on the link to get it, it redirects you to the ADC site... which doesn't have the iTunes COM SDK anywhere in there. Does anyone know where it went?

You now need to have an ADC membership to download the SDKs. You can sign up for the free Online Developer membership here:

  • ITunes COM SDK broken on Windows XP??

I have an application called TuneUp Companion (http://www.tuneupmedia.com) that was working fine with iTunes 7.7 and after upgrading is broken.
It works fine on Windows Vista ...but iTunes 8 on Windows XP seems to give a message back that the iTunes COM interface is not available.
Are there known issues with the iTunes COM SDK for Windows (7/15/08 release) on Windows XP??
    Thanks, Raza

much of this is speculation because I can't remember how many previous versions of iTunes were on these machines...but this is what we're seeing:
extra entries in two registry keys... when it didn't work these two registry entries contained "AppID" values:
    HKEYCLASSESROOT\CLSID\{B9E1D2CB-CCFF-4AA6-9579-D7A4754030EF}\Implemented
    Categories
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B9E1D2CB-CCFF-4AA6-9579-D7A4754030EF}
with the APpID set to the same iTunes CLSID string:
    {B9E1D2CB-CCFF-4AA6-9579-D7A4754030EF}
and when it did work the AppIDs entries were gone. this is only on XP.
on vista there never was any AppID entry.
but, again, i wonder if that was added by previous versions of iTunes which we didn't install on the vista machines...
Also, worthy of noting is this post from Apple:

  • ITunes COM SDK License Warning

    Hi,
I'm developing a commercial app that works with the iTunes COM SDK. However, on the download page for the SDK, there's this warning:
Warning: Pre–release software is Apple confidential information. Your unauthorized distribution of pre–release software or disclosure of information relating to pre–release software (including the posting of screen shots) may subject you to both civil and criminal liability and result in immediate termination of your ADC Membership.
I know this download is a few years old and, presumably, so is the message. However, since that's not made clear anywhere on the page, can I still use this SDK for commercial purposes or would it be considered as 'unauthorized distribution' since I have to include the DLL with my app? (As a side note, this message doesn't appear on all downloads,so it's not just a generic one).
    Thanks

No, not sure how you've drawn the conclusion I'm just confirming that I've understood the warning message correct and that the SDK being released, whether in source or binary form, actually counts as 'unauthorized distribution'. I'm new to Apple SDKs, so I'm unfamiliar with how things like this work here. Seeing how widespread the iTunes COM tutorials are, I thought I might've misunderstood something regarding the warning. So, essentially, you're saying the answer to my question is no, it can't be used for commercial purposes. Correct?

  • Do PlayFile and AddFile still exist in the iTunes COM interface?

I'm playing around with the iTunes COM SDK on Windows. I'd like to come up with a script that causes iTunes to play a video file, and either the PlayFile (associated with the liTunes interface) or AddFile (IITUserPlaylist) methods ought to do the trick -- at least in theory.
Unfortunately, neither of them work. They're both still apparently valid method calls, since my Java -> COM bridge barfs when I feed it invalid method names. But neither of them actually does anything. By way of contrast, OpenURL and AddURL both work perfectly -- and they'd be viable workarounds, save that they both assume the input file is streaming audio and store it in the library as such.
Have these methods been deprecated? If so, what have they been replaced with? Or is it more likely that I'm running afoul of one gotcha or another?
Right now, the only workaround I can think of is to write code that edits "iTunes Music Library.xml" directly, and I'd rather avoid that for what should be bloody obvious reasons.
Thanks in advance for any insight anyone has to offer on this.

    In general:
    - The best way to check if files are in a library is to drag the whole media folder to the library.  If something was missed it will be added.  If it is in the library is won't be added a second time.
    - If you have a second copy of a file and iTunes does not currently list that specific file in its database then even if it is identical to one already in the database it will add it a second time.  So if you have file xyz on the internal drive and the external drive and add them to iTunes you will end up with two entries for the same thing in iTunes because you really do have to copies of the files.  While this can happen with two copies on a single drive, it will almost definitely be the case when you have a copy of a file on two drives because iTunes really sees them as two different things.
-Unless you know how iTunes works, avoid moving files yourself.  Let the consolidate feature do all the file moving.  Manually moving files can really mess up iTunes unless you know what you are doing and have iTunes set to not try to do it itself.
    - There's no clean and easy way to delete duplicates.  The best thing is to change practice so you don't create them.   Here are  references:

For music that you've purchased from Apple that are on your iPhone you should be able to copy to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. Also if you are in the US then you should be able to re-download past music purchases for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
For your own music that you've copied, then if you haven't got a backup on, for example, external drives or CDs/DVDs then you could see if any of the utilities mentioned in this old post still exist and work

When my wife tries to update one of her apps a strange Apple ID pops up. Her Apple ID is correct in settings and in the apple store. What does this mean? Where did the other one come from?

There is something on your iPhone (a music file, iBook, document or video) that belongs to another Apple ID.  Only your wife would know how that file arrived there.  Your iPhone is asking for the correct Apple ID for all of the files that are resident on the iPhone.

  • Where did the iPhoto 10 iCloud Photostream come from and how do I get rid of it?

I just updated my MacBook Air to mavericks.  I have an iPad and iphone as well just updated to ios7.  My Mac updated iPhoto as well.  Now when I opened iPhoto I got my flickr and Facebook integrated folders in the left pane plus an iCloud photostream.
I didn't have that before and it has 287 pictures pulled from many devices but I didn't set that up.  I only had/have a private photostream with a particular name and about 10 pics in it.  this new one is just called iCloud photostream and it has 287 pics of which some I know I took with my iPad and others with my iphone.  I of course sync both devices with my Mac so this pics are in my iPhoto library as well.

  • Where did these tracks come from?

I was helping a friend hook up his IPOD. His IPOD was given to him by a friend. ITUNES was already on his PC.
When I connected the IPOD, ITUNES started "converting" a bunch of songs from one format to antoher. It took so long I had to cancel it. But already there were about 10 albums that had been "converted" and now appeared in his library.
I just assumed these were songs from his IPOD. But when I browsed the IPOD using the ipod screen, it shows up empty.
    (1) Where did these songs come from?
    (2) How would I get the rest of the songs, wherever they are?
(NOTE FYI -- I also am having a problem updating, can't update ipod, option is greyed out. I tried "restoring" the ipod, no help. I didn't do a reset because I did't know how. I will when I return)

I'm always willing to be proven wrong, but to my understanding iTunes will under no circumstances add music from your iPod into the library on the PC. There is no supported way to move music from the iPod to the PC.
There are, however, 3rd party applications that will do this.
As for where the imported music was coming from, my guess would be an existing Mp3 or wma music collection the person had on their PC. If itunes searched the pc for music when it first was installed, and found files not in .m4a format, it would convert them and import them into the library.
What are the tracks? It could have even been importing the sample music or system sounds that come with windows, I suppose.

First of all, HP... i'm not impressed.
All the files for all the drivers are in a series of temp folders...
    C:\Users\-myusername-\AppData\Local\Temp\3\7zS4A73
    really?
    hope this helps someone.

There is no change to this problem after 6 months since the last post. Put simply, and as stated in the previous posts, there is no way to scan a document and receive the image on your PC. If you are working with graphics for any length of time or want to create an image for inclusion as an image in a document or web page using this piece of equipment will not allow you to do so.
Great shame as every other function works well - it cannot be beyond the wit of HP to include a Windows application that enables you to scan an image, receive it in the software you are using at the time (e.g. Outlook, Word, Photoshop...) and use it in your work.
HP Printers several years older than this £1000+ Enterprise printer were able to do this simple job and have done so for a great many years. Just being able to use Microsoft's Fax and Scan would be start.

  • Where did the Stream 7 drivers go?

The support page for downloading drivers for the HP Stream 7 tablet (any model) has disappeared from the HP website.
Navigating to the HP Stream 7 support page, Selecting "Software and Drivers", then "Go directly to software and drivers page", Operating System "Windows", then Version "Windows 8.1" (the only choices), then clicking the Update button, gives a message "No software or drivers are available for this product with the selected operating system. Please make a different selection, or visit the product homepage. " This happens using Firefox, IE 11, or Chrome.
These drivers have been missing for at least a few weeks, and multiple forum users have also had no luck finding them. Before that time the drivers seemed to come and go randomly, but they've stayed missing now for weeks.  One dorum user has posted direct FTP links to the drivers, and they might be the latest version, but not really sure.
