Where did [user name] Library go?

Just upgraded to Lion and getting used to the changes. This may be a naive question, but where did the [user name] Library go?

Once opened, you can drag the icon to the Finders sidebar for easy future access.

I have installed Adobe Lightroom CC.  In the process of launching, a popup appears, that says:  "AN INTERNAL ERROR HAS OCCURRED.  Cannot create the required folder:  /Users/(my user name)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Develop Presets."  So even though Lightroom CC is installed, it will not launch.  What do I need to do to allow it to launch?

The problem was solved today.  Here's the full story.  I'm a Mac user.  At first I installed Lightroom CC on my iMac (desktop).  I had this problem so I called Adobe, and was referred to a "special unit" .  After about an hour the tech solved it for me ... we did a screen sharing and she took control of my computer for a loooong time.  Because of language difficulties, at first I wondered if she knew what she was doing but she eventually solved it.  Although she couldn't explain exactly what she was doing, she summarized it by saying "it was a permissions problem."  I asked if I would have the same issue later when I installed it on my laptop (Macbook Air).  She said probably not.
But I did.  The same internal error popup arose on launch and launch did not complete on my laptop.  I tried chat but no joy so I eventually called Apple Care.  I had noticed that on my laptop (and the iMac for that matter), that there was no Library folder after my user name.  The Apple tech explained that the Library folder is actually there but it is hidden because it's very easy for users to do some very nasty things to their computer by going astray while in the Library folder.  The folder is actually there, but they hide it.  I did remember seeing that the tech helping me with my iMac had typed the work "Library" while she was controlling my computer.  Basically she had activated the hidden Library folder so she could open the path that Lightroom was trying to follow to create that "Develop Presets" folder.  For some reason, the inability to create that folder in the launch process was preventing launch from being completed.  The Apple tech said she didn't actually have to do that and activated the Library folder by use of the Go selection on the menu bar.  Anyway, once that complete path was replicated and opened, the next step was to go to the Lightroom Permissions field and add my user name to the user categories already there and enable "read and write" permissions to my user name.  Once done, I shut down my laptop, and then rebooted.  I launched Lightroom and then boom, voila, heavens to betsy, etc. it launched and suddenly a dismal weekend turned into a great one.
I am not a geek, so I hope this makes some sense.  I also hope Lightroom launches again tomorrow and beyond!

  • After installing Mavericks iTunes 11.1.3 does not find my recent iTunes Library. Where did my current library go?

After installing Mavericks iTunes 11.1.3 does not find my recent iTunes Library. Where did my current library go? The new iTunes opens a 2009 library on start up. My most recent library is ignored even when I go to it directly and start iTunes with it. In another thread someone suggested repairing permissions, I did that and it did not help. I ripped my entire CD collection over the summer (1000's of songs) and now they just don't exist...or I can't find them. They were there before I upgraded to Mavericks the other day. Now vanished. I have found no other issues with Mavericks (yet). Played the music last week; upgraded, now can't find my complete current library. If anyone has a clue as to what might be causing this I sure would like know. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi, sorry to hear you had this problem. Sometimes after updating iTunes the library appears blank because a new library (.itl) file has been created. Anyone else experiencing this issue may be able to resolve by following the steps outlined in TS1967. There is ofter a 'Previous iTunes Libraries' folder in the iTunes folder, by quitting iTunes entirely and replacing the currently named iTunes Library.itl file with the library file named by date in the Previous Libraries folder (should look something like 'iTunes Library 2011-08-03') and renaming to 'iTunes library.itl' and relaunching you should find the library looks the same as it did before updating (metadata intact).

  • Where does user.name come from when using System.getProperty(user.name)

    Hello,
Based on the user's requirements, I implemented authentication based on the results of the System.getProperty(user.name) feature. The audit group has some concerns on where the user.name value is coming from.
Does anyone have any idea where this property is coming from, and if it is coming from a file, whether it is stored as text.

Environment variable that is read internally by the JRE. If you go to dos (in windows) and type "set" and hit return, you'll see Username=whatever your login name is. If course, someone with the right credentials can change this.
    Unix has a similar feature.

  • Where did my music library go?

When I synced my phone on my computer a few days ago it downloaded a new album I had purchased on itunes butttt that ended up being the only thing in my music library now....wth? So I did not turn on the icloud on my phone so it should not be backing up to that...so where is my music? Please help

If it's just your library that's gone, do you still have your iTunes music folder?
If so OK, open finder, go to music, click on your iTunes music folder and highlight then in iTunes go to the top and click (add folder to library) and you should see your library start filling up!

  • Where is user name and password stored for database adapter

    dear all,
does any body know where is the password stored in database adapters.
I noticed it mentioned in wsdl file in encrypted format, but is there any other place it stored.
    a ) before deployment
    b) aftre deployment .
    Thanks in advance .
    Regards
    Arc

you will notice a JNDI name for this e.g. eis/DB/... this is used to look at the Application Server configuration. If it doesn't exist then it will use the credentials used as design time. Not good asthe connection will be fore development mainly.
you can safely remove the mcf setting from the wsdl so it will always force the AS connection. this is good practice.
To configure the AS configuration there is the oc4j-ra.xml file for the DB adapter. Or you can configure in Enterprise Manager
EM -> oc4j_soa (home if basic install) -> Administration -> JDBC Resources
configure a connection pool and data source
then create a JNDI name entry for the DB adapter
EM -> oc4j_soa (home if basic install) -> Applications -> Drop Down box select Adapter Resources -> DB Adapter
Use the examples. You will see that the connect string = jdbc/DBName
    cheers

  • Where did my photo library go

So was on vacation during update, came back 2 weeks later, cannot find all the photos I had on my Mac, does anybody know why and more importantly how can I retrieve them?

Photos only changes the extension of the library package after it's converted. The name stays the same as you've noticed.

  • Where did old iphoto library go?

My main iPhoto libary has disappeared and I am freaking out. This happened after opening iPhoto with the option key down and opening it with a different library. Now I can't get my original library back. None of the libary options are the right one when opening with the option key down The images do not even seem to be on my hard drive. They are not listed under All Images. They are not in the Trash or iPhoto Trash. No, I do not have a backup. Yes, I am an idiot. Where could these thousands of photos have gone? Would it work to rebuild the library in iPhoto or is there any third-party software?

    two suggestions
Never use all images to find and modify any images - it is not a place but a list and if you delete or change theings there you may corrupt your iPhoto library
and not having a backup is inexcusable - if you do not have a backup at all times you are 100% guarenteed to lose all of your files and photos sooner or later - people, computers and software all fail and when they do a backup is your solution - I do two daily (Time Machine plus a daily clone), keep my photos on the camera memory card for a minimum of a year had have an off site backup - my files are important to me

  • OT: JavaScript - where did user come from?

Need a little bit of JavaScript help if any web developers have done something similar.
Is is possible in JS to find out which page a user has come from in order to get to the current page? I would like to display a "back to somewhere" button on my page, but change the link of the button based on which JSP page the user has got to the current page from.
Possible? If this can be done via some detail of one of the JSP implicit objects instead, so much the better.....I don't like JavaScript very much, but sometimes its a necessary evil. If anyone doesn't know the specifics, but knows the relevent Google keywords, that will be enough.....at the moment, I don't know what to search for. :)
    Ta.

You can also do something like:
    window.history.back()
To go back to the previous page without necessarily
    knowing what it is.
(That's from memory. Check the docs; it may be wrong)IIRC it's history.go(-1); to go back to the previous page.

  • Where did my I photo library go?  Just upgraded to Leopard on a new Imac

Where did my iPhoto Library go? I just upgraded to Leopard and went to iPhoto and there is nothing there. I'm on a 2.8 Gh Imac and did a software migration before loading Leopard. When I click media in any of the iWork suite, nothing comes up in the media inspectors. Did I lose them all?

HI TD - thanks for your response.
I did the firewire migration from the old imac G5 in Tiger. Then I loaded Leopard. My photos folder is empty on this new one. I've been thinking of uploading from the old computer before giving it over to my husband. But, if there's another way to find those photos on this iMac, that would be great.
(I had a similar dilemma with iTunes because I didn't know the music wouldn't import on it's own and found a way to make that happen, so I'm assuming that I can do the same with iPhoto, if I can find where the files are!)

  • Hide password and user name fields in secure form on landing page

On a landing page I don't want the password or user name displayed in the "secure" form because I think it will keep people from downloading our e-book. It will cause what some refer to as too much friction—visitors will feel that we are asking too much of them just to download an e-book so won't do it.
I found somewhere where the user name can be populated with the e-mail address, although I couldn't figure out where to put the code to make it work.
Can the password fields also be auto-populated and hidden so the user can access the secure zone to download the e-book never even knowing that they had a user name and password assigned to them?
I'd really appreciate some help here and please keep in mind that html and css is where my expertise stops so if there is a java solution I will need the code and how and where to add it.
    Many thanks for your help.

  • WEBI - capturing user name

    Hello,
I have created a report which pulls in certain objects along with user name from the database. I have created a report level filter where in it captures the user id who has logged into BO and filters out the rows where the user name from the database is equal to logged in BO. When i create the report for the first time it works fine but when i save the report (with refresh as open checked), it does not show me any data, even though there are records. Any ideas, please
    Thanks in Advance

I believe you are confusing a database-related piece of data versus the application data. You logon to BIP as UserA, and the database may have no knowledge whatsoever of your identity (given that UserA does not exist in the database). Within BIP (the webapp), your logon to BIP is what is being referred to via the xdo variable. Your data source may or may not be defined as UserA, in fact, it could be UserB. As far as the database knows, queries are based on what UserB can see and do, not you as UserA. Likewise, BIP (creating reports, viewing folders, etc.) will have nothing to do whatsoever with UserB.

  • Where did the "library" folder at the users level go?

Where did the "library" folder at the users level go?

    Ziatron wrote:
Following the lead from Windows, it's now hidden.
Users are not qualified to use the library anyway.
When it's following the Windblows lead, there should also be an option to revert this, to be able to switch the hidden files back to visible. Haven't been able to find that option yet.
Furthermore, I despise your remark about users not being qualified. When I buy something I have all rights using any and all part of it. Whether that's a sensible choice for each and every user is a whole other question, but to treat all users as one dumb-*** group is not good (IMHO).

    Hi birdman07,
You need to go into iCal and manually change the password.
iCal > Preferences > Accounts > MobileMe email address (CalDAV) > Account Information
I ran into the same problem when I recently changed my password for MobileMe and this resolved it.

Either you enabled the guest user, or you enabled Find My Mac, which requires there to be an active guest account for a thief to log into, so that they'll connect to the internet and allow you to locate it.
