Where do deleted events in imovie go?

it says "trash" but apparently there is no dedicated trash for imovie and the deleted events do not show in my mac trash. what is up? where are these deleted files? i have seen others ask this question on boards but no one seems to know where they actually go and if they are, in fact, deleted. anyone?

Just so there is no mistaking my question..i delted an event in imovie 10.0.2 on my macbookpro which i updated to maverick last week. the event was gone from my imovie library but never showed up in my finder trash. i DID NOT empty the trash before i looked there. i tried a few experimental deleting events from imovie and it never shows up in my mac finder trash. question: anyone know if, indeed, the event was deleted and if so, how (since i did not empty the trash, nopr did it even show up to empty)? And if not, where did the deleted events go?

  • Where do deleted events go? How do I delete them?

    hi.
I've updated mt system to OS X 10.9 (13A603) -Maveric.
The iMovie has changed considerably and I have three questions at the moment.
    1) Where do deleted items from the iMovie Library go?
I can find them in iMovie Events folder via Finder and they are greyed out.
If I click on them they convert from .mov files into (converted).movie
Where do I go from here? Why does it refer to the movie as a "new document" What is the file Streamer Videas for? Mine is currently open.
The greyed out version is still in the iMovies Event folder and my Trash is still empty.
I can drag it out and into Trash, but surely there must be a way to just send it to trash from iMovie?
It does actually say in the dropdown Move Event to Trash.
Previous versions of iMovie moved deleted events into Trash but I don't have anything in my Trash.
    2) Is there any way to change the order in which the contenst of the iMovie Library are listed in the side bar? At the moment they are appearing in alphabetical descending order but I would like to change that to date order with the newest at the top of the list. The drop down sort options don't change the iMovie Library listing?
    3) is it possible to change the date format where it appears in the clip information? At the moment it comes up as yyyy-mm-dd and I would like to change it to dd-mm-yyy?

Never a reply so will try another time.

  • Deleted events in iMovie 10 does not reduce used space on hard drive

The used space on my hard drive doesn't   reduce  when I delete  big  footage (events) in iMovie 10.0.1. The deleted events were not moved to system garbage like in iMovie 11.
    Any exlanation for that?

It depends on how you migrated from iMovie 11. When you convert your Events and Projects from iMovie 11, you have the option to keep your iMovie 11 Events and Projects. If you do, the iMovie 10 Events are created by using Hard Links to the files. This means that iMovie 11 and iMovie 10 both can point to the same file. Therefore, it does not take up any more space to have events for both iMovie 10 and 11. On the other hand, If you delete an Event from iMovie 10, but do not delete the corresponding event from iMovie 11, you do not gain any disk space back.
Also, note that if you ever move or copy these events to another drive, the hard link will not carry over. At that point, both the events will take up space (basically doubling the space needed.)

  • Can't delete event in imovie

So I was messing with imovie, and I deleted the content, but the event itself won't delete. It keeps saying I have an event from 7/23/14.

    Hello xoxoyazyxoxo,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To delete an iMovie event please follow the steps below.
Delete movies, trailers, clips, and events
You can delete unwanted movies, trailers, and clips from an event, and you can delete an entire event in order to free up space on your hard disk.
If you don’t see the Libraries list, click the Show button on the left side of the toolbar.
In the Libraries list, select the event you want to delete, or select the event that contains the items you want to delete.
In the browser, select the movies, trailers, or clips you want to delete.Tip:  To select multiple items, hold down the Command key as you click the items you want to select, or drag a selection rectangle around the items.
Choose File > Move to Trash. If a clip you’re deleting is in use anywhere else in your library, the clip is not deleted.

  • How do I delete events in Imovie

my mac is working so slowly. I think one of the problems is that my events folder has over 8 hours of video. However, when I try to click on it to delete it, it won't let me. It doesn't separate each event. It's just one big event. When I click on FILE, MOVE TO TRASH. It tell me "I must select at least 1 event". Well, I would if it would break down the events!
    Please help!!
    Thank you

    m2funky,
In order to remove clips from your iMovie Library, they must first be 'rejected.' The steps below detail how to go about rejecting a clip or clips. Once the desired content has been marked as 'rejected,' you can utilize the 'Move to Trash' function to remove those clips from iMovie. Note that this will remove entire clips (even if you only 'reject' a small portion of a clip). If you inadverdently remove a clip and would like to restore it to iMovie, you can choose 'Undo Move to Trash' under the Edit menu.
In the browser, select a range, a clip, or multiple clips you want to rate.
    Do the following:
If you don’t like the selection: Choose Mark > Reject (or press the Delete key).
A red line appears at the top of frames you’ve marked as rejected.

  • How do you delete events in iMovie

I put some videos from our family camcorder onto iMovie, but now I changed my mind; I don't want them in iMovie. When I try to delete the event, (i right click it and click "move event to trash") it says, "The library must contain at least one event." But it does! Help!

It would seem that the event you want to delete is the only one in the library.  As soon as you create another event you will be able to delete it.

  • Found My Answer_ How To Delete Event In iMovie( From The All Events Section)

Had to delete it from my downloads folder!

    Hi,
You need to first stop Windows Event Log service to be able to delete/move the log files manually or through script.
Here is what you can try, create a batch file which would first stop the event log service and then move/delete the log
files as per the criteria specified and start event log service again once logs are deleted/moved.
Also,  have a look at following thread
    Is
it safe to delete .evtx files mannualy?

  • Deleting iPhoto events in iMovie

I do want to delete my iPhoto events / movies from the list in iMovie. For some reason I can only delete events / clips that were imported other than from iPhoto.
Does anyone know how to get rid of them? I checked the filestructure to possibly delete manually, but I cannot pinpoint files in either the iPhoto package (which increased tremondously after the initial import) or other places were these thumbnail files etc. are storted.
Anyone got a hint how to go about?
Note: I am aware that getting into the files manually poses a risk and I do keep backups to restore... in case. So risky hints are also welcome

I am also puzzled by this loss of disk space when iMovie imports iPhoto for the first time. Would also like to reclaim that space back.
Here may be the solution: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9415197&#9415197
Not sure if it would work to delete the movies in the data folder in iPhoto.

  • How to Import iMovie v9 Projects/Events to iMovie v10

I had a heck of a time finding info on transitioning from the previous version (v9.0.9) to the current version (v10.0.7). One of the problems I was having was getting the new version to recognize my old Projects and Events. After some digging here and elsewhere, I figured out what was wrong and how to fix it.
In my case, I had provisioned iMovie 9 to keep the Events folder on an external hard drive while the Projects folder was on my iMac's internal drive in the Movies folder. Don't ask me why they were separated; I can't remember why I did that or even if it was a mistake. Whatever the reason, it caused trouble when it came time to upgrade.
iMovie 10 keeps all the Projects and Events in a single Library file. By default, this Library is placed in your Movies folder on your Mac's internal hard drive. During the initial installation, iMovie will ask if you want to import the old versions Events and Projects. You can opt to do it right then or wait until later. When you do attempt to import these files, iMovie 10 will look in the Movies folder for the previous version's iMovie Events and iMovie Projects folders. If you have both of these folders in their default position, the new iMovie should be able to immediately import the files by copying them to the new version's Library. The old files will remain in their folders and will be useable by the previous version without any problems.
If you have the previous version's Projects and/or Events folders somewhere other than where iMovie 10 expects to find them, you may encounter an error when you try to import the old files. Even if the attempt fails, iMovie 10 creates extra files inside the old folder that prevent a successful import if you try it again. You'll need to look inside the old iMovie Events and iMovie Projects folders for a file called "UpdatedToiMovie10" and delete it from each folder. (In my case, I deleted these files from any drive that had these folders, not just the internal hard drive.) Restart iMovie 10 and select File > Update Projects and Events... to restart the import process. As long as the new iMovie Library is in the same folder as the old iMovie Projects and iMovie Events folders, this should proceed without a hitch.
If, like me, your old projects and events were stored at least partially on an external hard drive, you should consolidate them onto a single drive. DO NOT do this from the Mac's Finder. Move the projects and events to the drive where you want them by dragging them in iMovie 9's browser. Hold the Command key while dragging to move the files instead of just copying them. (If you copy the files instead of moving them, you'll have duplicates on both drives. It's not a problem, but the files will take up at least twice as much space on your drives.) Once the files are located where you want them, you can quit iMovie 9 and re-attempt the iMovie 10 import process by selecting File > Update Projects and Events...
I hope this helps anyone else having this issue. I also hope that anyone who can see where I've explained this incorrectly will please post a correction as a response.

iMovies are not designed to be viewed in iPhoto. You should watch your movies from iTunes. You can SHARE/To iTunes and your movies will be in iTunes. From iTunes, you can watch them on your Mac, on your Apple TV, or you can sync to iPhone, iPad, iPod. You will also be able to access them through the Media Browser in Keynote, Pages, GarageBand, Logic, and iDVD.
The only movies that should be stored in iPhoto are short, unedited clips taken by a still camera. iMovie can edit them without taking them out of iPhoto.

  • In IPhoto I changed movie dates after thumb nails were created in IMovie but the new dates are not showing up in IMovie.  Is there someway to refresh the IPhoto event in IMovie?

Background:  I'm transferring file folders from a Visa laptop via an external hard drive to my IMac.  In the folders are photos and videos from different cameras.  SO I first tried to import to IMovie but it would not recognize any of the files.  So then I imported into IPhoto and both photos and videos were imported and I created events for each folder.  When I first opened IMovie I had to wait for it to create "thumb nails".  Then I could view the events in IMovie BUT the video clips are not together because they have vastly different dates and are mixed with videos from other events.  I looked at the dates and said I can fix that in IPhoto which i did but those new dates are not showing up in IMovie.    I think I need to somehow refresh the event data that Imovie is using but have not found how to do that in either IPhoto or IMovie.
I'm doing this on three events with about 100 photos and videos.  But I have many 1000s more to do so need to know how to either fix this or delete these events, reimport, change the dates, then open again in IMovie.   I'm sure that would work but I can't understand why changing the dates in IPhoto is not being reflected in IMovie.
    Appreciate any tips or pointers.
OBTW this is my first question as a first time Apple owner.

It was suggested I move this question to IPhoto or IMovie which I did.
Well moving to a different discussion group did not provide an answer to this question either. But what I finally did was import one batch of photos and videos into IPhoto for a given day at a time. Working with these I could change the date and times in order to get them in the original sequench taken. Then I would create an album with that batch. These would all be on the same day (IMove was closed for this phase). Then I would open IMovie, generate the thumbnails for that album, and select the album I had created. This was necessary because the importing process in IPhoto was using incorrect dates for my video so it was a real struggle finding them in IMove until I developed this approach.
I believe that this whole process was so screwy because I was importing from an external hard drive not a camera. I had these photos on a PC and did not have the original cameras to use to import directly which I am fairly sure would have made this easier!

how do i delete events in i movie 11?

    Hey,
You just need to select an event, right-click, and select delete event. It will then give you an option of how you want to delete it.

  • Are the iMovie Events and iMovie Projects folders needed?

I'm using version 10.0.6 of iMovie and moved some of my projects to an external HD using File > Move Events to Library.  I noticed in my Movies folder in my home directory that the related project folders under iMovie Events and iMovie Projects weren't moved.  It seems that these are left over after upgrading iMovie and that it just uses the iMovie Library and iMovie Theater bundles.  Can the iMovie Events and iMovie Projects folders be safely deleted?

Yes they can be deleted if you have moved all the projects you want to work further on to iMovie 10, have checked that they are working OK, and are happy with switching permanently to iMovie 10.  (There's no going back).
On the other hand if you leave them you can still use the earlier version of iMovie.
    Geoff.

  • Time to reject events in iMovie?

I have about 40min of HD events in iMovie '11 that I rejected. It has taken an hour and they are still not in the trash. Is this normal? No other app is running and MacBook is plugged into power.

When you reject videos in iMovie they are not moved to the trash. You may have noticed a red line along the top of the clips you have rejected. That is there to well, tell you they are rejected. To DELETE an entire event, reight click on the event name in the explorer window and click "Move Event to Trash." To delete just a clip, select it and hit the delete key.
    Hope this helped!

  • Correlations in Workflow - wait for Delete event problem

    Hi All,
I am working on version ECC5.
I have a workflow that needs to wait for any changes to i0008, i0007, i0509 and i2001 for the person who is the subject of the workflow.  I have used correlations to do this and it is all working fine except for the Delete event.
For each infotype I wait for each event ie. Approved, Changed, Created, ApprovedCancelled and Delete.  When the events are published the wait event is triggered and the workflow goes to the next steps where it does a recalculation,  fires off a new workflow and ends the current one.  This is working for all of the events except Delete.  The Delete event is set up exactly the same as the rest, but somehow the workflow wait event is not triggered.  It is happening with the Delete event for all the Infotypes I am waiting for.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what may be the problem.
    Thanks
    Sandra

    Arghadip/Martin thanks for your replies.
Yes, the delete event is being published.  I am using the same object e.g BasicPay for the delete event that I am using for the other events - Approved, Created etc. that are working.   The correlation and the wait for event steps are set up exactly the same way as they are for the events that are working.  I find it curious that the delete event doesn't work for any of the infotypes.   Why?  Could it be that when a record is deleted the object no longer exists?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Sandra
