Where do I enter PPP user name and PPP password?

Where do I enter PPP User Name and PPP Password when installing a new modem? I followed directions for installation but a dialog box asking for those items didn't come up.
I reset the Wi-Fi on the System Preference > Network Pane after turning off all my wireless devices, MBP, iPad, iPhone, Canon MG5320 printer/scanner, and HP LaserJet Professional P2606N (this printer is connected via ethernet to AirPort Extreme).
I did this because of the following message:
Another device on the network is using your computer’s IP address (192.168.0.1)
Following directions I unplugged the PK5001Z Modem, plugged it back on, and then turned on each wireless device, one at a time so that unique IP addresses would be created for each one. This worked, but now I'm trying to get our Smart HD Samsung TV to connect to the internet.
Setting up the IP Internet settings, we are using the Network Name and entering its IP address manually and also having the setup find the IP address automatically. It connected to the modem but couldn't complete the connection to the internet.. Also use a Guest Network, but that didn't work either.
Is the PPP User Name and PPP Password still necessary? It was given to me by our service provider and was original in 2012.

I found the Modem GUI Logo setup on the web for my modem using the address of my IP address with http://xxxxxxxxx.
Everything looks good.
The internet connection with the TV is still a problem.

In Dreamweaver, Window > Business Catalyst:
BC panel will appear in your Dreamweaver main window.
You'll only need your Adobe ID that you used for BC to sign-in and authorize BC within DW.

Partial success in that I have been able to get mails onto the iPad - however....
Progress from a previous 'rumage' on problem discussions. I have succeded in setting up the iPad so that it receives emails from the sky address under 'MAIL' on the iPad. However trying to open in the 'usual' way - safari - then sky - then email - enter user name and password - I get the same result - it just returns to the log in menu for sky email with user name and password blank.
I had a previous problem with the sky mail ceasing to show recent mails, frozen in time on the iPad. Somehow by trying some reset instructions I was able to 'unlock' the iPad and all was OK until it 'froze' again. This time I clearly screwed up attempts to unlock, resulting in not being able to access email accounts via the Sky site !!

umm. i hope you are aware of the fact that when you enter your password in Solaris you won't see any evidence of it until you press "enter".. hence, there are no "*" or similar which indicates that you are typing your password...

thanks so much for your posts back. I really appreciate it and yes that does help to know that you could not get it working.
I did have some success, in removing the SSL Authentication checkbox in the smtp server settings - I found that this allowed my friend to be able to send mail from the mail app via his sbcglobal (yahoo) account.
So that did help but of course the messages do not have ssl encryption and I'm not sure how big a deal that is for an individual. He is able to receive mail but unless the SSL authentication box is unchecked, he cannot send.
i hope that helps anyone out there also!

Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. Finally went to the Apple shop where a nice young man explained that I had to use the original password not the recently changed password - case sensitive too - and finally have installed the updated Adobe Flash player with no shaking! Maybe this helps you too. JL

Linksys Rejecting My User Name and/or Password for 192.168.1.1

All of a sudden, my user name and/or password are being rejected when I try to enter the router utility. This is also happening on a second machine that is served by this one. Any solution, ideas?

Oops! I should have mentioned that the router is a BEFW11S4 and the pci card is a WMP11. According to the Linksys website, both have the latest firmware and drivers. These are Wireless B devices that, in the past, have worked fine. Lately, the second computer has been dropping connections like crazy and is driving me---well, crazy.

Why do I get the message "Cannot send mail, the user name and or password for my email outgoing server is incorrect"? I use the same account, etc. on my iPhone and haven't any trouble sending mail.

If your email requires a password for the SMTP server you can set it up in the settings in the General mail setup. Some i.e Gmail require a password for SMTP.
Otherwise you will probably get better answers in the iPad forum.

I have several other wireless devices (laptop, iPod touch, blackberry) which have absolutely no problems at all.
Since it's just the iPad wi fi issue, try restoring as new.

You may have an app installed that's causing problems with your Wi Fi. After you restore as a new device, sync 5 apps at a time, then test the Wi Fi on the iPad. Keep syncing apps... you might find a culprit.
Scanning the Internet there seems to be lots of other people having this problem.

Deauthorize Audible Account... always appears as a menu selection, even if you deauthorized Audible or never even had an account.
Audible is a different account from iTunes and does not require the same username / password.

I am trying to install something so it is asking for my username and password. No matter what I enter it says it is invalid. I have tried resetting my password and logging out and logging back in with the new password which worked. But still when I get to the install page it asks for my login username and password and then denies it.

When you boot Leopard and get to the Login Screen, do you enter the same Login User name and password?

Have you tried adding your comcast account using the built in IOS mail app.
If you're using the Comcast Xfinity app, then look at their support site or ask the app developer.

Old User Name and Fortgotten Password

I have a collection of songs on my iPod, that I cannot transfer to my current User account as it is set up for an old User Name (email address) that does not exist anymore. I have also lost the password, so when it asks to transfer I cannot log in.
Can anyone suggest how I can reset the iPod user name and password detail to transfer all my songs to my new account?

And if that doesnt work using a toothpick or pen tip, press and hold the reset button on the back of the roter for 30 seconds to reset everything back to default.

Disappearing User Name and/or Password

This issue started in 10.5.2 and continues in 10.5.3 after using the combo updater. Many times when i wake my computer or cold/hot boot it, i type my user name in and then try to type in the password in to the password area and WHILE i am typing in the password the user name disappears! I cannot even figure out where to begin to solve this. I tried using Onyx to delete the caches and delete the DS store files but it didn't help. Any suggestions on where to start?
