I have Photoshop CS 6 for photographers by Martin Evening.    On Page 48, he shows a list of tools.
Move tool (V)    I have
Crop tool (C)     I have
Perspective Crop Tool (C) I do not have
Clone Stamp (S) I have
Spot Healing brush (J) I have
Healing Brush (J) I have
Patch Tool (J) I have
Content Aware tool (J)   I do not have
Red Eye tool (J) I do not have
Color Replacement tool (B) I do not have
Eraser (E) I have
Background Eraser (E) I do not have
Magic Eraser (E) I do not have
Is there a means of adding tools to the list?

You most likely have the tools, there just grouped in the same slots in the tool box with other tools and thus hidden.
You can get to the hidden tools by left mouse clicking and holding on the different icons in the tool box to reveal a list of other tools grouped in that same slot.
The way to tell if a particular icon has other tools, is to look for a small black/white arrow in the right bottom corner of the icon in the tool box.

Below is a layer i would like to make 3D:
i can bring forward the 3D panel by going to Window> 3D, as shown below.
OR with the layer selected, i can go to the top menu, 3D > New 3D Extrusion from Selected Layer
This transforms my letter into 3D, as shown below.

Hi Travo, it sounds like you are not in Photoshop, but Illustrator!
This is what you would get when you open up the eraser tool in Photoshop CS6:
However, I imagine you are seeing this instead:
Illustrator doesn't have the Background Eraser Tool because it is not a photo-editing program, it edits vector artwork. Can you try to see if you have photoshop installed? This is what the icon of the program looks like:

I have Photoshop CS6 running on my MacBook Pro, but can't get it to open in Yosemite on my MacPro. Also, I can't find my Serial Number to re-enter it on my MacPro. If I could just find it on the MacBook Pro, I'd be fine (I think). Is it available while running the app on my MacBook Pro?

There should be a button marked "Continue Trial" or "Use as Trial" or similar.
Click that to continue in trial mode.

Where can i find edited adobe photoshop files in time machine after update?

i was having issues with my computer, brought it in to apple store. they suggested i back everything up on external using time machine before doing a erase/re-write. i did so. HOWEVER, my edited photos in photoshop & bridge are gone. after the re-write, i updated from CS3 to CS5.5. all of my metadata is gone from the pictures, my keywords and all of the edited photos.
i don't know if it is related and it's not really my question, but i cannot access any of my itunes music now as it says that it cannot find original files. super frustrating as no one seems to know how to help with this. these two issues arose after my time machine backup that the apple genius told me would certainly back up all of my files. it seems i did something wrong prior to the backup or prior to the software updates that i did after the rewrite. any suggestions that could point me in the right direction are appreciated.

That path is still correct - at least it is on my system - but unless you had Library brought out into a place where it could be found, in the Sidebar for instance, I don't know how you'd get into it in Time Machine. Try this, though: access the user's Library folder via the Go To Folder command, then drag the Library folder into the sidebar. Then run Time Machine and see if the Library folder persists in the TM interface. If it does, you should then be able to navigate into Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ and find and restore the backup folder.

I need to hire a programmer (freelance) to develop a PhotoShop plug-in filter. I'm in the SF Bay area, but unfamiliar with the industry. I know I need someone skilled in C++, algorithms, PhotoShop SDK and Mac platform. I just don't know where I should be looking to find a qualified person or company.
A web search for PhotoShop programmer doesn't bring up what I need. A Craigslist search under Computers didn't come up with anyone with PhotoShop Plug-in experience. Sites like Freelance.com, GetACoder.com, etc., provide few responses and all are "off-shore".

Which operating system are you running on?
Did you use the Organizer or the Editor to scan in the image?
For the organizer, go to the Edit menu and select Preferences -> Scanner
There you should find where the image is saved.
For the Editor, you are asked for the destination so it is wherever you selected. Try doing it again to find the location.

Finder, Safari, and Photoshop CS6 keep crashing.

Hi there, I could really use your help as I am a photographer and can't edit any photos without photoshop. My macbook pro has version 10.9.3 and a 2.4 ghz intel core i5 processor with 4 gb of memory. I have a ton of space on my hard drive, but in the acitivy monitor it says I have used 3.96gb out of 4. Is this my problem? Is this why the other apps won't work properly and are crashing. I haven't had an issue with this in the past, that is why I'm so confused why it is happeneing now. Thanks in advance for your help! I tired to load some screen shots of my activity monitor, but when I tried to load them, I got another crash notice from safari.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
