Where do I find the master folder where Firefox stores all bookmarks on my computer - like the favorites folder on IE?

My bookmarks area mess with many duplicates. I want to sort them, eliminate the dupes. The Organize bookmarks function is too slow.

  • How do you CHANGE the location (away from Drive C) where Firefox stores temporary files?

I know where Firefox stores temporary files. I want to CHANGE this location away from Drive C to decrease writes to an SSD. Thank you.

    Thank you.
This function may be one of the few things that IE does better than Firefox. IE lets you change the temporary file location in Tools - Internet options - Settings. Firefox developers should make this task easier and put the instructions in the Help file where they can be easily found.
Since I use an SSD for Drive C, I have learned that any file(s) that are frequently written to should be moved elsewhere to a conventional HDD.

FLV files played by the Flash plugin are usually streamed and not saved to the hard drive.
They may be kept in the memory cache during the playing.

  • I synced my android and my desktop and adding a favorite on the desktop is syncing with android. In the other way i can't find the favorite on my desktop

From desktop to android is working perfectly. Then i added a favorite on the phone and i can not find the favorite on the desktop. I also clicked the sync button under settings on the phone to be sure that the phone is synced.
still can not find the favorite. On the phone i can find the favorite and a folder "Desktop-Favorites" it's translated so can look different in the english version.
Under Desktop-Favorites i can find all my stuff from the desktop.
Somebody has the same problem or i am blind or sync is just one way ?

    Hi!
Sync is both ways so there's something not working as intended. It could be that the computer hasn't synced yet, to confirm this, you can press the Sync Now button in the Firefox button (if you are in Mac it's under "Tools").
If after that it doesn't work, I will recommend you to check in the logs if there's something that is not being downloaded to your computer. You may want to open a bug by following the instructions in this blogpost: [https://philikon.wordpress.com/2011/06/13/how-to-file-a-good-sync-bug/ How to file a good Sync bug?]

  • How to change the directory where firefox stores the bookmarks

I want to setup firefox so it will store all files, including the bookmarks, to another directory than the default directory.
    example d:\backup\mozilla\firefox\
This will make it easier for me to backup these files.
How can I do this ?

Try using profile manager that may allow you to setup a profile on the d:\ drive if so that is where the bookmarks will then be stored. (If that does not work resort to manually editing the profile.ini)

  • First time user: I can't find the favorites tab/button with my imported favs

Downloaded firefox today. I imported my favorites from internet explorer 9. I can't find my favorites. Is there a button/tab/list that I'm not seeing? I want to be able to go to a list of favorite sites as I did in e9 and not type in a website every time I want to go there.
Is this what bookmarks are for? I'm not very computer savvy.

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks).
If you can't find them in the "From Internet Explorer" folder then try this:
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

  • I can't find the favorites I imported from Expelor

    ''dupe of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/978804''
I want to use Firefox, but if I can't use my favorites it is of no use to me. I followed the instructions to download favorites from Explorer several times but cannot find them.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.
*Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):<br>File > Import and Export
*Import the HTML file in Firefox:<br>Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML
See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Favourites should appear under your login name menu which is accessible from the Youtube menu (at the bottom)

  • Where has "Save all Bookmarks" option gone in fx4?

I've installed Firefox 4 and am totally unhappy with the experience:
    1) Where has the "Save all Tabs" option gone from Bookmarks drop down menu? I have no way to save a current work session; fail.
    2) In an effort to create more screen space, you have made the browser harder to use. For example, how do I now get the "about" option to find out what version browser I'm using. Please don't say to enter something in the address bar - for the simple reason that this is beyond the casual user!
Did you get non-devs to even test this?

1/ Right-click on a tab for the option to bookmark all tabs, or use keyboard shortcut Control+Shift+D
2/ Click the Firefox button, then in the Help sub-menu select "About Firefox"

  • Where does Firefox store my bookmarks and how can I retrieve them after reinstalling Firefox.I had to restore and reinstall Windows XP(32).

I have reteieved all my documents and settings and have recovered my E8 "Favorites" , but I can't find my FF bookmarks.

Bookmarks are stored in the '''places.sqite''' file in your Profile folder. Also, there are bookmark backup files in the \bookmarkbackups\ folder in your Profile folder.

  • Running opensuse 12.3 and FF 19.0.2. What is the name of the file, that contains ALL bookmarks ?

I need to erase ALL bookmarks on my FF in opensuse 12.3

The ''places.sqlite'' file contains your bookmarks and history. If this file is missing or damaged, Firefox will restore the most recent bookmark backup.
The ''bookmarkbackups'' folder contains bookmark backups that Firefox creates automatically.
Both can be found in your profile folder. Do not delete either while Firefox is running.
