Where do I go from 10.6.8?

I became a new Mac user a couple of years ago and am still operating on 10.6.8. I read that I'll need to upgrade to Lion if I want to use iCloud. Do I need to take this in steps or just to with the newest one (Mountain Lion?) comes out this month?

Lion's software compatibility is a known variable.
Mountain Lion is not. Until Mountain Lion's release software that claims to be Mountain Lion compatible may not be until it actually is tested with the release version. You may wish to wait and see if the software you rely on knows it is tested with Mountain Lion's release version.

I used a third party programme called Mackeeper UGHHH,it moved loads of files to the trash now i do not know where they originally came from or belong!! the put back option is in grey??how can i manually put these files back where they belong?SO upset!!

i have been researching and racking my brain on how to put these folders and contents of them back to where they once were all of the contents of the folder are still in tact AND i have not emptied my trash,my programmes and some of my apps are not working properly now...i use my computer alot for making music and things are jumbled up now...

hello there thank u so much for ur reply!! ok i uninstalled mackeeper now and the put back option is still in grey im so confused...i tried restarting my computer like u said and put back still in grey??!! the files that are in my trash are everything from Accounts,address book plug-ins,address book,adobe,aim.........then stuff like apple,Audio,....to caches color pickers,colors,com.apple.TCC,to DVD player to facebook,google to ilifemedia browser to itunes to keychains to movie effects,preferences printers to skype...my Native instruments files BUT not all of them my garage band but not all of it...it seriously looks like my whole library is in the trash i tried to put things back where i THINK they belong and it just added the item or folder under where i thought it went and didnt restore functionality to for instance google chrome and all my book marks are there....they seem to be only certain things from my library that would have added some functionality to apps and programmes like my garageband is missing stuff photobooth wont work so on.......kinda looks a bit like this thats only the half of it!! Once you're on a spammer's list, there's nothing you can do to stop the flood of e-mail messages. You can either control it, using spam filtering (which is what files those messages in the Junk Mail folder), or you can throw out your e-mail address and get a new one.
It's sad, but spam is simply a fact of life at this point, and there's nothing to be done about it. Legislation has been tried, with zero success, since most spam either comes from countries with no legislation or from personal computers that have been infected with malware and are part of a "botnet."

If you can download the ML installer you can make a bootable install media by using:

If your Mini came with ML you can also boot to Internet Recovery
OS X: About OS X Recovery
and it will install ML. Make sure you boot to Internet Recovery and not the Recovery Partition. If to the partition you will only get Mavericks.

Why is the cloning and healing tool in lightroom 5 no longer showing the stamp where it is replacing from?

When I use the cloning and healing tool it used to show a stamp indicating where it was replacing from. It suddenly stopped working. I can still remove spots but cannot move it around to see where I could use alternate space to clone or heal.

The source should show on both Heal and Clone. Hit the H key to turn them off and on or pick one of the options in the Toolbar.

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

IPhoto 6 "found" old photos - where did they come from?

When I opened iPhoto 6 for the first time, it updated my iPhoto library just fine. In the process a dialog opened saying it found 134 photos from somewhere, and asked if I wanted to import them. When I said YES, it created a new album and imported those 134 photos into it.
The photos ended up being old photos (2-4 years old) that I thought I had deleted a long time ago, many of my ex-wife during holidays and a vacation 3 years ago! Where did they come from? Needless to say, my new fiancee wondered why I had old photos of the ex! I thiought they were gone.
I used Spotlight to search for "IMG_0...) and found many old photos I had deleted! I do not have an old iPhoto libraray on my PowerBook G4, but the photos were still there in folders, deep inside iPhotos filing system. I deleted all the ones I needed to, all by hand within the Finder.
What happened?

I had well over 2,000 photos recovered... Also ranging from 5 years old to this past month.
There was no clear answer but the photos were recovered in large chunks (300 from December, 400 from March, 600 from January, etc...)..
The entire time I has iPhoto 5, it never worked properly (always crashed) so a lot of these photos clearly were photos not properly saved in iPhoto 5.
However, I don't see them in my main library. How do I move them from recovered to the Library?

BO Edge Free Trial - Where do i go from here ?

dear all, i am an SAP ABAPer for years. I would like to get into BO.
I have downloaded and installed, successfully the free BO Edge Trial.
Now i sit in front of my laptop looking at it, wondering what to read, to get me started.
i prefer hands on exercises.
i realize the Edge trial does not link to SAP, so where do i go from here.
i would just like to get to play with the tools inside Edge, and perform some very basic "Hello World" type functionaltiy.
Maybe link BO Edge to an Excel spreadsheet ?
anything that can make use of the Edge Free trial.

To check your S.M.A.R.T status open disk utility and click on your drive and then click on the info icon.

Page / Tab Title ... where is it coming from, so that I can change it?

I'm new to Application Express, and can't find the place where I change the title of a page (or is it part of a tab?). I can change the tab title, but can't seem to find where to change the title that seems to accompany it at the left of the page.
If I could include a screenshot, I'd be able to show this clearer, so will have to mockup what I mean ... hopefully it will be clear enough....
Below, I have a page with a single level of tabs - One was originally called "UNPLANNED_OUTAGE" and this was the title of the tab, and the title at the left of the screen. I have changed the tab title to the desired "Outage Summary", but can't find where I can change the title at the left of the screen (currently still "UNPLANNED_OUTAGE"). I want to change it to "Outage Summary" like the tab, or to something else, but can't find in Application Express where this is coming from.

I am not sure exactly what your question was. However, if I understand correcrly, you want to change the PAGE title (displayed on the typically blue frame of the MS IE window).
Go to the Page design mode, and in the PAGE region, click on the TITLE link. Edit the title.
If this is what you were looking for, great. I'll give you another unsolicited advice. Start your page title with a page number, e.g. "Page 651 - Form on Enforcement Action Requests."
That way, even when the thickest of your users report problems, or have suggestions for improvement, they will be able to tell you which page they are looking at...

The icon is +Sections, not just Sections, as in "Add a Section". When you click that icon you get a section break and and a new section template, complete with preformatted text called placeholder text. The reason "Lorem ipsum" is there is so you can see what the format looks like. The reason that it is Latin gibberish is so you won't get hung up on, or distracted by, what it says. It's just a display of format. Select the "Lorem ipsum" text and start typing your content.
