I'm not sure to change the default of Get Info but what you could do is open the Inspector instead it 1 remembers it location when you close it and 2 when you click on another icon in finder changes to that. To open it instead of the get info window Option + Command + i or hold Option and click File show Inspector.

I recently aquired an iphone 4s due to the fact that our parent corporation requires us to use either a blackberry or iphone in order to have the protection needed to use their email. In MS Exchange, when I recieve an email, I read it once, then it's gone. Very frustrating as I need to keep those emails available. Where do they go and How do I stop this from happening?

i actually got it figured out. I have multiple email accounts i have to use due to different corporate offices ( which can be a real headache at times). The exchange account is an active server used by Hilton and its an actual account. What was happening is my mail was getting kicked back to their server for storage. Once I contacted Hilton, they corrected it on their end. Thanks for trying to help out.

How do I get Messages to stop sending from my email address instead of my phone number?

I've had several people tell me that texts I've sent from my iPhone have been showing up as <myemailadd>@mac.com instead of my phone number. It started doing that under iOS7. I don't want my email address sent with my phone-originated texts. I don't want my email address broadcast to people that shouldn't have it.
So what do I need to change to make sure that phone texts originate from my phone number, home texts show my email address, and both are viewable on both my iPhone and iMac?

I think its fixed. I had to sign iMessages in on my Apple ID, but then deselect my email addresses to make it behave the way it should. Now if I could get iMessage to only send response alerts to the last device I used, instead of late night texts going to every device I own in the house and waking everyone up.
For some reason, the free iCloud address I automatically received (when Apple was trying to force people to leave Mac.com) is "hardwired" into iMessage. People were also getting texts from that address even though I was on my phone. I tried to delete it but iOS tells me I can't. I don't use that address, I won't ever use it, too bad I can't make it go away.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If those don't work - sign out of your account - Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad and then go back to Settings>Store and sign in again.

I have the same question, but can you clarify something please. I have about 10 apps showing in the apps section of iTunes - all of which I am happy to have on my iphone - but NOT on the Touch.
1. How do I 'delete' the apps wrongly synched to the Touch, and
2. For the future, when I download an app. hor do I ensure it is only synched with the iphone and not the Touch. I have very space left on the Touch and don't want to clutter it with unwanted apps.

Get Info replaced with Play/Pause

So, this new update moves Right-click->"Get Info" 3 rows down from where it was, to put a "Play/Pause" button.
Now I to move my mouse more every time I have to change stuff in a song. And I change a lot and it's getting annoying that it starts playing the song instead of just taking me to the Info of the song.
I don't see the point in this "feature". The pause/play button was very well placed at the top or use "space" to play/pause at anytime. And the probability of needing to Right-click anywhere and pause is less than Right-clicking on a song to edit it.
Change it back! Or give me an option to change it.

As an aside, I know this isn't addressing your issue, but another option is to press ctrl-i, rather than pulling up the context sensitive menu and selecting "Get Info". It's a keyboard shortcut which accomplishes the same thing.

ITunes crashed during "Get Info" now the movie won't add to the library

Hi all,
I've been using iTunes with my Apple TV for over a year now, and this is the first time this has happened, and I'm at a loss on what to do to remedy it.
I added a number of movies to my iTunes (as i have done a number of times before), and selected them all, and clicked on Get Info, to move them from "Home Movies" to "Films", nothing new there, but this time when i clicked ok this time, for whatever reason iTunes stopped responding, and came up with the usual error of "iTunes has stopped responding....", so after I get returned to my desktop I went back in to iTunes and the movies i'd added weren't in "Home Movies" so i figured, "oh well, it must have completed it anyway, and then crashed", so i went and checked my movie list, and they aren't there either.
I figured that it just hadn't saved the fact i'd imported them, and went to add them again, but it just won't add them... i've tried adding them as multiple files, and adding them as individuals, but still to no avail.
Can anyone shed any light, or point me in the right direction for correcting this issue?

If iTunes quit unexpectedly while saving changes, and now will not import the movies again, I'd suggest rebuilding your iTunes library. See this article for help with this troubleshooting step:

Rosetta refuses to be checked or unchecked in get info in Safari

Although it's unchecked but I think Safari thinks it's in rosetta mode on my external drive because I can't use QuickTime 7.2. Yes I made sure that I have the correct permissions too.

Yes in Safari, that's exactly what I'm saying.
I had to remove the QuickTime webplugin from my Internet plug-in folder on my external hard drive to get QuickTime 7.2 working in Safari again.
However my biggest mystery is why it doesn't let me check or uncheck “Open with Rosetta” option in Get Info in my Safari on my external hard drive.

Quicktime won't open files, Get Info Video Preview crashes finder

When double-clicking any .avi video file, Quicktime attempts to open it, and then returns an error report with "excbadaccess kernprotectionfailure".
VLC will play any of these files perfectly. I want to set up file handling so that VLC always opens .avi files, so I right-click a video file and go to "Get Info," but in that window the Finder tries to generate a preview of the video, and after a second or two crashes the Finder with no error message.
It is very annoying not to be able to double-click video files to open them. How can I get this working?

That method works when selecting and then right-clicking individual files or groups of files, but I frequently put new .avi files on the machine, and I have to repeat the process. I was looking for a solution that would make any future .avi files open in VLC with a double click.
Furthermore, once the file has been set to load in VLC and the icon has changed to a VLC icon, selecting Get Info for that file will still unceremoniously crash the Finder. Is there any way to fix the preview in the Get Info window, or at least stop it from crashing the Finder?

You may have a corrupted webpage but you can try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
launch iWeb and try again.

Audiobook "get info" no longer works - itunes treats my audiobooks as music

When I add my audiobooks to Itunes it no longer allows me to "get info" and change them from music files to audiobooks. It just doesn't save., Anyone know how to fix it? Have tried uninstalling and going back to an earlier version but it doesn't work.

Are you confused about accessing the Lion iTunes Get Info menu from mouse?

I was...for some reason Lion was shipped with the right click (secondary) turned off, which is how you access the Get info Menu in iTunes from the mouse. So just go into Apple menu choose system preferences. Choose mouse and check the secondary click box. Then you are good to go back into iTunes choose a song and right click to get the Get info menu...

This has nothing to do with iTunes.
It is the OS System prefs.

Apple Menu / System Preferences / Desktop & Screen Saver. Select Screen Saver and click on what you want. There probably is a "slide show" selected.
You can turn it off by setting Start After: Never.
