Where do I install X11 from?

I have a new MacBook Pro and I can't find X11 to install anywhere on either DVD. Do they not have an X11 for Intel binary yet?

Never mind...didn't scroll down far enough.

I'm not sure You can find a standalone version of SQLNet, but it is included in almost every other product, because they need it.

  • How to install X11 1.1.3 when all you have is 1.0?

Help! I just upgraded OS X 10.3.9 to 10.4.11, and almost everything seems to be fine except that can't seem to get the newest version of X11. I installed v. 1.0 that comes with the install DVD, and then I tried to get 1.1.3 (so I could download the latest GIMP) but you can only install 1.1.3 if you have 1.1 at least. Which is fine except that I can't find just a plain version of X11 1.1 or 1.1.1 to install!! So if course it won't let me install 1.1.3 (says I have a newer version installed already, which I don't). Where oh where can I find X11 1.1? Or is there a way around this?
    Thanks,
    Jerzy

Did you install X11 from the DVD before or after getting the software updates to bring the system up to 10.4.11? Does Software Update offer you anything? I only show updates for 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 so I'm wondering if an earlier update might have been included as part of a more general update.
Are you sure you installed from the Tiger DVD? My receipt for X11 shows the version as 1.1. The date on the receipt is shortly after I got this machine.

  • Cannot install x11 for ies4osx download

I need to get IE v6.0 or greater to work with a certain website(MLS) and found this program ies4osx. To download it I must first install X11 from the Tiger Installation DVD. I installed the 'xcodetools.mpkg' and then the x11SDK.pkg from the Packages folder. I then downloaded the appropriate software, Darwine 1.1.5, drag to applications and voila I should be gold, but it says after all this that x11 has not been installed or needs to be updated. I checked, there are no software updates available. Can anyone help me, please?

  • X11 from DVD - installation errors

I've just downloaded Open Office onto my MacBook, and so was prompted to install X11 from my OS X disc. However, whenever I try to install it from the disc, I get an error message to the effect of "There was an error installing, please try installing again." I subsequently have tried deleting the .pkg, reloading it from the DVD and trying again, but with the same results. Anyone have any ideas as to what's wrong? Thanks.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I just installed 10.4.6 on a G4 15" Power Book and I got the "There was an error" message.
I had customized the installation to add X11. When I retried the installation and did not select X11, the installation was successful.
I would seem that something about the X11 installation causes this problem.

  • Trouble installing X11

Hi, I tried to install X11 from the OSX Install disc. The window told me that the installation was successful. However, I cannot find X11 in the Applications folder or in the utilities folder. When I search for files called X11, I don't find any applications. I only find X11SDK.pkg. When I try to run GIMP, it tells me that I don't have X11. How can I install it?
MacBook Pro 15.4 in.   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You didn't install the X11 application. Insert your OS X Installer Disc One and double-click on the Additional Software icon. After the installer loads select the X11 application package for installation then click on the Install button.

stacy-g, Welcome to the discussion area!
You may want to grab NeoOffice instead. NeoOffice is the OS X version of OpenOffice and runs natively in OS X. No need for X11.

  • Where is the install package stored from the app store for Lion?

This is an all new way of deploying OS updates from Apple. From what I can see, this presents some issues:
    1. Where is the install package that I bought from the app store, and how can I save that offline?
    2. If there's a problem with my device in the future, I have no media of Lion to restart from- so what's the procedure to restore from a TM backup? Go back to 10.6, and then to the 10.7 update?
    3. What if I want to boot from disc or a drive? I don't have a copy of the install to make a bootable image.
    Thanks for the help

OK, once you install Lion the Installation Package gets deleted. However once you have installed Lion, do following:
    - Open the AppStore Application
    - With pressed Option (on German Keyboard ALT) Key klick on the "Purchased" Tab!
    - You will now see that the prviously greyed out "Install" key for Lion becomes active
    - Download the install package
    - Do not start installation
    - In order to create a bootable DVD or USB drive containing the installer follow instructions posted on
    http://www.macworld.com/article/161069/2011/07/make_a_bootable_lion_installer.ht ml
This is how you can create installation media.
For maintenance options (means your Lion installation has some problems but your drive is still OK)
you can boot from the hidden recovery partitions that was created when you installed Lion.
To do so, press the Option (ALT) Key while booting. You will have now the option to boot from
    Lion or recovery partition.
    Hope this helps!

    Hi ..
You can redownload previously purchased apps from the App Store using the same Apple ID on all your authorized Macs for free.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

  • Where can I get X11?

    Hi, guys,
I'm trying to get GimpShop working for my Mac, but it needs X11 installed first. The download from apple.com won't work(which the Gimp boys said wouldn't work), and the other option is to install it from my Mac's install DVD.
Unforunately, I just moved back from Japan, and that install disc is still in seamail somewhere along with the rest of my stuff.
Anyone know where I can get an X11 download that will work with my OS? (As X11 is freeware I don't believe I'm breaking any rules by asking this, but if I'm wrong please let me know)
Thanks for any help you can give me!

    hi AWNDR...
do you have access to your Tiger install DVD? it's on
    there.
Nope, like I said, still about a month away from me in seamail somewhere.
if you don't have access to your Tiger DVD, and you
really need X11, then i think your best option is to
    use XFree86's version.
    see:
    http://xfree86.darwinports.com/
    or
    http://pdb.finkproject.org/pdb/package.php/xfree86
Thank you again! I'll check them out!

  • Installing X11 on Tiger

Following the advice on a previous thread, I'm trying to install X11
on Tiger using the installation disk, from the "optional install"
package on disk1. I see four packages ("Applications", "Additional Fonts",
"Language Translations" and "Printer Drivers") but they're all listed
    as being empty.
Where is the X11 installation located on the Tiger disks and how do
    I install it?
