Where do I purchase single user copy of Intel build Mac OS X Tiger?

Hi,
I am planning to reinstall my intel Macbook pro, and I bought a copy of Mac OS X tiger from campus store today.
I did not mention that I have needed an intel build, thought Apple would put intel and powerpc build together.
Obviously I was wrong. The one they gave me is for build for powerpc only, would not work on my mac, neither can not startup from boot.
The disc is issued under label: MA453Z/A.
Before I go to the store tomorrow, I checked the online store and they only sell powerpc build version(MA453Z/A). Where can I purchase Intel based single user Tiger copy?

Apple doesn't produce/sell a Universal Tiger retail install package since Tiger has shipped pre-installed with all Intel Macs.
You need to contact Apple/Apple Care to request a replacement install package for your Mac model and build which will also include all additional software included with your Mac purchase which is not included with a Tiger retail install package. And keep this copy in a safe place this time.
The Leopard retail install package will be produced/sold as Universal since Universal will be required.

Don't call Apple Store. Once a new system is released Apple discontinues sale of old versions. They will tell you the only option now is to buy Snow Leopard and/or a new computer if yours won't run SL. Since you are running an Intel Mac it is possible you can run SL if your machine meets the [Snow Leopard 10.6 Technical Requirements|http://www.apple.com/macosx/techspecs> - note by [K Shaffer|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12924036#12924036]: "Some early Intel-based Macs can't use Snow Leopard 10.6 installers;of those, the Core Duo (not 2 duo) were suspect and had issues."
If you absolutely must run Leopard try Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775 ([telephone numbers for other countries|http://www.apple.com/contact/phone_contacts.html]) which may provide a backdoor way to still get Leopard if they still have copies. Otherwise you will have to get it on the used market. Make sure you buy black colored, retail version discs, not the gray, machine-specific discs which only install in certain model computers.

I purchased but never used a SmartScan 360 sold by SmartDisk in 2007. I lost the CD with SmartScan 360 software. I wish to use the photo scanner with Mac OS 10.7 (Lion). SmartDisk is out of business. Does anyone know if other software drivers will work with his scanner using Lion?

after use command + s it gives me black background with white text and typed in reboot but my keyboard won't work on it. I did try using command + v same thing my keyboard won't work. My keyboard does work but strangely on this one it doesn't. HELPP!!

Wipe a HD via Unix in Single User Mode?

Is it possible to wipe a hard drive using diskutil or another method when booting up in Single User Mode? We routinely need to wipe drives and if possible, this would be the easiest.
I suspect because the OS that boots in Single User Mode is on that same drive will make this impossible.

Yes, you cannot erase an OS while it's 'hosting' the erasure. Single user mode is part of Mac OS X, so it's on the hard drive, not in the firmware or anything super-low-level like that. Oh well. So... you might be able to erase the vast majority of user, application, and even OS files, but it won't be complete and won't be 'as good as' a volume-format.
A couple alternatives come to mind (sorry if you know all this. Not trying to be pedantic or patronizing, just making sure you know your options).
We keep host computers around just for running wipes, backups, and diagnostics that cannot run from a drive holding the booted OS. You simply restart the to-be-wiped Mac holding the 't' key, connect it via firewire, and treat it as an external hard drive.
You could also just boot from a Mac OS X install disc and wipe from the copy of Disk Utility included on the disc. Better yet, throw a +bona fide+ copy of OS X onto a pocket hard drive, boot the victim-Mac from that (hold option while it is first starting up), and wipe the internal HD normally, now that it's not in use. You could maybe even use single user mode in the booting OS, like you'd imagined, and format from there (I'm not sure that would be faster than letting it boot normally, though, as you might have to use "dd" or some other similar low-level wipe method, as I don't think the frameworks required for Apple's cli "diskutil" are available in single user mode).
I haven't tried to use it on a Mac, but I have a 256 MB USB flash drive with, er, ['Darn' Small Linux|http://tinyurl.com/5md7t] on it for diagnosing Windows boxes. It runs a script on boot which, if you don't intervene to run utilities or what-have-you, will wipe all attached hard drives and shut down. I keep it locked up for understandable reasons, but its super useful just as a time-saver, booting most machines and beginning the countdown-to-wipe in under ten seconds.

Can I install the Single User iLife '08 on both of my computers?

I have an iBook G4 and a PowerMac G4 Cube (upgraded, it will run on it). With all of the previous iLife releases I've been able to install and run everything on the same network just fine. I'm the only user and I'll be using the same .Mac account on both machines. But I've been reading on messageboards that people don't think that this will work... I just want to check before I open it. Please help I'm eager to install!

I have not purchesed iLife 08 yet, so I don't know for sure, one way to check if you can do this is to look at the license agreement and see what is legally permitted. Apple will explain what is allowed as far as installing a single user copy on two home computers. You can view the agreement when you run the install program.

Single user is misnomer

I'm a single user. I have two Macs, a 24" iMac and a Powerbook G4. That's right, like a lot of users, I'm a single user who has two Macs: One at home and one for the road. No one else uses my Macs.
And yet, if I purchase Leopard I can't install it on the two Macs that I, a single user, have.
Leopard is sold and advertised for a *single user* but it clearly is not that. I strongly suggest that Apple corrects this unfortunate and misleading slip of the marketing tongue.
I'm sure they ment to say "single Mac".
Since Leopard is clearly not for a "single user", I will have to purchase the Family pack, I understand.
Unfortunately, my three kids are grown, scattered in different parts of the world (US, India, France), so the family at hand is reduced to two people (my wife and I), not five. So why should I pay for 5 when we're only 2 users? I wouldn't mind paying for my wife's version of Leopard. In fact, I don't mind paying for several versions of Leopard. I just don't like the idea of being limited to one Mac per user or to a Family pack of 5 when we're just 2. Such waste...
Does anyone have a solution?

There was a time when it was "okay" to have a laptop and desktop, and as long as both were not concurrently used - sort of - you were within bounds (single user).
That changed.

The two places I knew about have sold out. (fwiw - these were new retail, not upgrade). Your best bet may be finding someone on craigslist or ebay who is switching to Avid or Premiere and getting rid of the FCS suite. Buyer beware and all that.

I think it's just a little over $200 if you don't have an older version to upgrade. Around $100 if you do.

Purchase Orders form in Query Only mode for a single user

Hi All,
I want to make the Purchase Orders form as query only for a single user. I tried by giving 'Query_only=Yes' in the parameters section. I am getting 'FRM-04151: You cannot query records here' message more than 10 time. I know we get this message and this is applicable to all the users. But this message is comming more than 10 times.
Is there anyway that I can restrict the Query only mode to a single user and please suggest about the message also.

Single-User Mode Copying Files/System Does not Boot Past Apple Logo Screen

I have a Macbook 2.0GHZ, 2GB RAM, that recently tried to download a secuirty and keynot update. Following the download the system will no longer boot past the Apple Logo Screen with the spinning wheel. I do not have access to a OS disk yet or to a firewire cable either. I've have seen posts from others that describe how to use traget disk mode to reinstall the secuirty update manually and then they can boot their computer. Safe mode will not work. I did boot into single-user mode and run the disk utility there and it says my HD is OK. Since I do not have a firewire or an OS Disk, I am wondering if there is a way to copy those files i need to a USB pen stick then install them onto the computer via single-user mode, considering this is the only way I can boot and manipulate the machine at this time. If this is not possible please let me know so I can find a way to scrounge up a firewire cable or disk. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Thanks to Limnos and BDAqua I know you guys have helped others with these kind of problems from the other posts I read. I just want to list what I did exactly in case anyone wants to try to do this with a usb drive or does not have access to a boot disk or firewire cable.
1: Install security update on a pen drive
2: Boot in single user mode, CMD-S on startup
3: /sbin/mount -uw /
4: mkdir /Volumes/usb (usb can be any name, name of usb drive or anything you want)
5: ls /dev (you need to get the drive listing for the usb drive to mount it appropriately, it should be disk#s# but this is close to what the HD and Cd drives are listed as so you may need to list once before you put the usb stick in and once ater. I had issues inserting the usb drive in single-user mode and it would freeze up the root drive)
6: /sbin/mount_msdos /dev/disk1s1 /Volumes/usb (this mounts the usb drive, i had to use msdos because of how my usb drive was formatted, you may need to check your usb drive format, hfs is the apple format for usb drives but it did not work for me)
7: cp /Volumes/usb/SecUpd2009-001Intel.dmg (this copies the files from the usb drive to the root drivel, at this point you no longer need the usb drive)
8: hdiutil mount /SecUpd2009-001Intel.dmg (this mounts the disk image)
9: cd /Volumes/"Security Update 2009-001" (after i mounted the image this is how it appeared in the Volumes directory, you might need to do ls /Volumes to get the name, the quotes are important to get the whole file directory changed)
10: installer -pkg SecUpd2009-001Intel.pkg -target / (this installs the acutal update, i used the SecUpd2009-001Intel.pkg and it worked though I think you might be able to use "Security Update 2009-001" with quotes as well.)
11: reboot

Not here. It's too far back for Adobe to sell.
You might find a copy on e-bay, but you take a risk buying software there, and even if the installer is valid, you'd need a valid product key or you'll only get 30 days out of it. Even ProDesignTools only goes as far back as CS3 with Flash.
Also, unless you're going to install it on a very old computer, I wouldn't expect much out of it.
