Where do i put movies on my mac so i can watch them on AppleTV

I have uploaded some movies onto my Mac. I'd like to watch them on my large screen TV via AppleTV. Where on my Mac should I put the movies so that I can access them using AppleTV?

They need to be imported into iTunes, they also need to be compatible (see below). Home sharing needs to be enabled in iTunes and Apple TV. You would then access them via the Computers icon on Apple TV (when computer is on, running iTunes).

QuickTime Player is not itself able to do this. You need a proper DVD authoring solution such as Apple's iDVD.

You could try the free ffmpegX (http://ffmpegx.com/index.html), which is a highly flexible video converter/encoder (and I believe does WMV as well)... it does require the installation of some UNIX components, however I think this is done through the self-installer.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you have been through ALL of the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for investigation.

The movie needs to be fully loaded on your computer before it is accessible. Make sure both are signed in with the same ID. Ensure you are going to the Computers icon on Apple TV

Well, I would have thought so too, so if you can tell me where else to look, I'd appreciate it. I can look in my itunes account on my computer and see Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, of Spongebob Squarepants, Season 1 of Criminal Minds, Season 1 of Tuff Puppies and a set of Spongebob stuff called 'Absorbingly Spongebob'. When I put on my Apple TV 2 (the black one), under TV Shows, I see Season 1 of Criminal Minds, Season 1 of Tuff Puppies and Absorbingly Spongebob. I see no difference in the shows except that my granddaughter has watched the 8 seasons that don't show on Apple TV whereas she has not watched the others.
I have 21 movies on my itunes account and only 16 of them show up on Apple TV so there must be a reason some things show up and others don't. Have read through some of the posts here and there may be some issues with agreements but Spongebob Seasons are available to buy through Apple TV - exactly what I have already bought. That's why I wondered if I would be charged again if I simply bought them again through Apple TV.
