Where do ios6 (saved) safari files go
Safari said could not open file (PDF) did I wish to save.
If in fact it saved it where do one look for it.
You should get an Open In window that pops up in Safari that allows you to choose the app in which you want to save the PDF. If you do not have an app that works with PDF files (iBooks, Adobe Reader) you cannot save the file anywhere.

How to find where iWeb is saving the files?
greetings.
i used iweb last year to make a couple web pages... i normally just edit html directly and don't use this kind of software... i cannot find where it is saving the pages i've updated... the location in ~/Site that has the files from last year do not appear to be updating when saving... the changes are getting saved somewhere because the changes are still there after quitting and restarting iweb... the standard way i use to find where a program is saving the file is to command+click on the title bar to see what path it is saving the file... that doesn't work in iweb...
i edit my files locally on my HD... then when everything is ok, i copy them up to our server... since i cannot find where iweb is saving the files, i can't copy them to the server... i really don't like software that gets in the way of just doing the work or hides everything... :-\
i did a quick search of the manual and this list and didn't find anything on this topic...

ps: also how does one get rid of that ANNOYING "try mobilme for free" splash screen when starting the program each time? it's enough to make me want to just delete everything and recode it by hand... certainly less annoying and possibly even faster... :-[ sorry for being so cranky-There is absolutely nothing wrong with iWeb at all. You just need to learn how to use it and what it does and how it publishes that is all.
You just need to know that if you want to update, then you need the domain files and where they are stored and know that iWeb cannot import and that it creates html files on publishing and publishing to a folder will create these. If you wish to make alterations to these files, then you can easily do so with an html editor and then upload directly to your web server.
As with anything, if you learn what it does and how to use it effectively, you can make it work very well for you. -
I haven't backed up my computer in over a year. When I tried to back it up today, Time Machine says 'an error occurred while creating the backup folder.' When I check the side of the partition where I manually saved old photos and documents (including all the pictures from the year I studied abroad/traveled a bunch), the folders are there, but NONE of the files are.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be, or how I could fix it? I really don't want to lose all those photosSo you were doing a time machine backup to another partition on the same hard drive? Just trying to gather some information so i can provide a helpful response.

I keep creating a PDF file from a publisher file and it says it is being saved in desktop but when I go to look for it, it is not in there, in fact I did a harddrive search and cannot find it. Where does it go?
that's a system setting, not an adobe setting. generally, after an initial save, files continue to be saved to the same location.
and you can always use 'save as..' to designate exactly where you want files saved. -
I viewed a PDF fle in preview ... and then saved it in Icloud .. but now I cant find it anywhere. It's not in Iwork or on my HD anywhere that I can find.
Doesnt Icloud support PDF files? (This is on a Macbook Pro)
Thanks in advance ...Thanks Lady Designer, your method works. However, it's too many steps for what I'll need to do. I have approximately 200 e-mail messages to print to file. It'd be much faster to select a message, Command+P, Enter, and continue with the next message. Your method requires the additional steps of clicking on the PDF button and selecting Save As PDF.
You're probably thinking, "Why doesn't he just select all the messages and print once?" I tried that.
When I choose to the PDF button and Save As PDF, no matter how many multiple messages I choose, only one of the messages turns into a PDF file. The other messages, despite being (apparently) processed, do not become PDF files. In fact, they become nothing; I know what happens to them.
When I choose to print using Adobe PDF 9.0 as my printer, I'm not given the opportunity to select a destination for multiple files; they automatically print to the Desktop. All the messages, however, do become PDF files.
Unless there's a way to select a file destination to which the Adobe PDF 9.0 printer can default, my choices are to either print-to-file each message one at a time; or print all the messages at once with the one method that works, but that will flood my Desktop with a couple hundred file icons. Although the mess lasts as long as it would take to gather the files into a new folder, I prefer to save myself the trouble. -
Photoshop CC 2014 Crashes When Opening or Saving PNG Files
I'm having an issue where opening or saving PNG files causes my copy of Photoshop CC 2014 to crash.
I've updated to the latest version, restarted my computer and have no plugins installed. I have also re-installed the program from the Creative Cloud application, although I haven't tried a full uninstall/reinstall sequence.
I'm running an x64 version of Windows and have tried both the 64 and 32 bit versions of Photoshop - neither works.
Other file formats don't appear to cause any issue - the problem is specific to PNG files (does Adobe Photoshop depend on any PNG library like LibPNG? Perhaps an older version has been installed by a different application?)
This issue seems to have occured in the past on the Adobe forums, but there is no clear resolution.Part of the information is missing but your running CC 14.1.2 not CC 2014, and14.1.2 needs to be updated to 14.2.1. Where did multiple saved login names go in ios8 Safari? In io7 you could have multiple logon names for a given webpage, and select which one you wanted, and even though these different names are saved in saved passwords in the Safari settings, I can't access them. Safari now just allows one saved name/password per webpage, and if you want to change this name, you have to turn off saved passwords, and type in the new name and password. Ios7 worked great, why did you mess around with something that worked? If I could, I would roll back to ios 7.
You should get an Open In window that pops up in Safari that allows you to choose the app in which you want to save the PDF. If you do not have an app that works with PDF files (iBooks, Adobe Reader) you cannot save the file anywhere.

I am setting up a new iMac and need help syncing files to Dropbox. On my old computer I had it set where when I saved a document, it was saved on my hard drive, as well as to a folder in Dropbox. I can't remember how I set this up. Any help?
The way that Dropbox works is that it keeps a copy of all your files in your local Dropbox folder on your hard drive (which is, by default, directly under your home folder). Adding files to that folder will sync them to the Dropbox server.
You do of course have to download the Dropbox application to enable this (download link at the top right of http://dropbox.com ).

I have problems saving pdf files in the web when I use Safari. I don't have this problem with firefox.
do they save ok if Safari - Preferences - Security - Allow all other plug-ins is unchecked ?
If so, likely an adobe or other pdf plugin
Re-check the setting above & quit any browsers,
Look in this folder by triple-clicking the line below, then ctrl-clicking it & choosing Services - Open
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
remove anything with pdf in the filename & test again
Sometimes, plug-ins can be in the User Library folder :

CS6 Beta ended by crash - How/Where to keep my Auto-Saved Recovered file ?
Hello,
I was working on Photoshop CS6 beta on Lion OSX since one month with no problem.
Yesterday seemed to be the last day of use (1st june annonced however) and Photoshop CS6 Beta shutted down since I was working on it.
On the re-opening it asks for a licence key so I try to buy one month rental on the e-shop but the 3 bank cards tested failed. So I gave a call to the commercial service and they told me that they do not take in charge rental but only full licence and that I can download the trial for one more month if I want to.
So, I will replace the beta by the trial.
But :
- How can I keep my Auto-saved Recovered file I was working on when crashing (pretty important work)
- Where the recovered file is saved on the hard-drive ? And, can I make it works whith CS6 non-beta ?

Kind RegardsAs I understand it - having not (fortunatley) had the opportunity to test this - if PS crashes and you have auto-save switched on, you need to re-launch PS and it will automatically open with the recovered file(s) in the state they were at when auto-save last saved them. Auto-save stores files temporarily in a special folder that's located at the same file path as your scratch disk location. (My scratch disk is at root level on a seperate drive, so it's easy to see the auto-save folder if I look there, but if you can locate your scratch disk, you should see the auto-save folder also.)
Of course, the fact that you can no longer open PS is going to present a problem here. I'm not sure if you could re-access the file via the trial version once that was installed and pointing to the same scratch disk area.
I might have got this wrong, but I think it's correct... Feel free to disprove my post!

since upgrading to Lion, i am unable to take screen shots. i get the message that i don't have permission to save files to the place where SSs are saved. how can i regain the ability to save screen shots? thanks
First of all, are you using the OS native screen capture?
If not, make sure the application you're using has been update for Lion. I was using Snapz Pro for years, but I need to update it for use with Lion. Meanwhile Grab and the keyboard shortcuts are working on my Lion load.
If you are using the native capture mode unsuccessfully, I would run the Disk Utility and repair permissions on the drive. For some reason, even in past OS Versions, routine maintenance of permissions makes life a lot easier. -
i want to export a vcard from contacts but when I do it doesn't give me the next step of saving the file anywhere and if it automatically creates a file, where is it saved?
its from icloud contacts. I select all and then go to export to a vcard and then nothing happens.

Where does my saved file go after using photoshop as external editor
Okay, I understand that when I have a 30MB picture file and edit with photoshop afterwards, I click on Save and back into aperture i'm left with a 175MB picture (bigger or smaller sometimes), but my question is this:
Since i'm working with all referenced images that have been stored on my external hard drive, after i make the edits and the file size explodes, does aperture save that large file in the aperture library, or to my external drive?
I keep my aperture library file on my computer, but the images on an external drive.
Should I make a new library file and store that on an external drive also?
The whole point of using referenced images is to save space on the main computer, but if it's saving a file that's 6 times larger onto my computer instead of the external drive, it kind of defeats the purpose right?

I appreciate everything!You can test this for yourself, but I just tested with a new Project, importing to Aperture to remain at the currently location, editing a photo with Photoshop. The Tiff that Aperture first created for PS to edit was created in the original folder, and not in the Aperture Library. The edit, when Saved, was made to that new copy in the original folder location, and thus in the external location.

The problem I am having is that some (most) of the files saved by previous versions of Safari won't open. This applies to double-clicking the icon, using the "open with" option or trying to open via the file menu.
I tried a restart. When I opened the folder where the files are stored, the icons changed from Safari icons to something else. I used "get info" to check what they were and it says they are Safari files.
These files open with Firefox via the "open with" option.
Apart from that the new version seems to be working ok. Just a few different things to get used to I suppose.
As always any help or advice appreciated.
