Where do my scans go?

I am scdanning slides with a HP Scanjet G4050 scanner to a HP desktop using Windows 8.  I have it set up to scan to file.  With my preferences set to save as a tiff file, only the first slide of 16 slide scans appear in the designated file folder.   I talked to commercial tech support at HP today and he discovered that if I save as a  jpg file all 16 slides appear in the file folder.  However, when scanning to a tiff file, and I go into the folder that contains the one slide whhich is saved and open it with a photo viewer, then all 16 slides are there and viewable.  The tech support guy could not tell me where these files are stored so that I can get to them and categorize them when I am finished scanning all of my slides.   I hope this all makes sense and hope that someone has an answer.

TIFF being better than JPEG is a matter of opinion and is dependent on your archiving, editing, and/or printing needs. You might want to read some compare/contrast articles (example here) before you complete a whole bunch of TIFF scanning, just to make sure it's the best format for your purposes.
There are free TIFF image splitter programs you can download. See this discussion from the website SuperUser.

  • Where are my scanned photos now that I'm in iPhoto 6?

    Hey there,
Can anyone give me a clue about where my scanned photos get stored so I can find and import them? I've looked everywhere. (What happened to the ease of iPhoto just leaving them on the screen to be dragged onto the library page?)
    Thanks! Ann

    Ann:
    What scanner are you using?
The scanner was set to scan "jpeg to iPhoto
By that do you mean it was set to save the file in a folder named iPhoto? If that's the case then that's not what you want to do. Scan photos to a folder outside of the iPhoto Library folder and then import them from that folder. Putting files directly into the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder or another application will not get them imported into iPhoto.
If that's the case look inside your Pictures/iPhoto Library folder for any jpgs in the top level of that folder and move them to the desktop. Then import them from there.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Where should a scan appear on my Dell Latitude Computer?

When I scan a document, where should it appear on my Dell Latitude Computer? The Envy screen says "scan complete" but the scan is not in the "pictures" file where scans from other printers have appeared.

  • Any reputable site where we can scan our imacs for intrusion, malware, etc

    Hi,
Since I don't use 3rd-P virus protection or intruder alerts, and I don't think most mac users do, how can we check our machines periodically to be sure we're clean?
Can anyone recommend a site where we can do a scan or something like that? Symantec maybe?
This Q just arose for me because in pursuing a search engine result I clicked to a site and suddenly a pop-up screen was telling my I had viruses and needed to attend to them. I got out of there asap.
    Thanks.

No sites, and I'd stay away from any that claim to do that like the plague. I would never expose my drive to an online scan (scam.) In fact, I'd be damned careful about anything you download to do that. These won't do any harm. You've been exposed to what's called "scareware."
    MacScan
Free demo. Might be useful in identifying several possible Trojans if you've acquired any, but will take forever to scan your whole drive.
    http://macscan.securemac.com/
    ClamXav
Will scan for PC/Windows viruses that won't affect a Mac but which can be passed on.

  • Where are my scanned documents?

This is a question that will certainly show my computer 'expertise', but can someone tell me where my scanned documents are saved? I have a HP photosmart b109 printer/scanner I bought with an iMac and after scanning a dozen documents, I can't find them. I have searched and searched but cannot find where they are saved.

I'm sorry I can't give you an exact answer because it depends on what version of the scanning software you are using. Look in your Documents folder and see if you can find a folder called *Scanner Output*. Also look for a folder that includes HP or Hewlett.
Failing this, perform one additional scan. Then click on the Spotlight icon in the top right corner of your screen. In the text blank type *Date: Today* and press Return. Then click on the *Show All* option in the dropdown menu. This will show you all the files that have been created or modified today. Look for the newest document (or the one with the filename you expect) and click on it. In the bottom of the window you'll see its path. Now you know where your scans are.

  • WHERE DID MY SCAN GO?

    Hi All -
I scanned a TON of documents to my mac today and I can't find any of them. They were scanned from the HP Officejet 4632 through Preview. I watched as all documents came up as they were being scanned. Before each scan, I placed them into a different folder. After I Fedex'd ALL documents, I realized that not one single scan was in their folder. Just gone.
PLEASE HELP! I saw them on my computer as they were scanned so they have to be somewhere. I've looked everywhere.

If you tried to put them in a different folder, did you remember if you give them each a filename? Try finder?
By default, Documents go to the Document folder and Photos go to the Pictures folder.

  • Where do my scanned pdf files go?

My printer states the name of my computer for location of scanned doc.  I can not locate the scanned docs.  Am I using the wrong ext with pdf?

    Hi,
You can redirect scanned documents to whatever location on your computer or external storage (depending your scanner). By default, scanned files should go to "My Documents" (or Documents).

    Hi,
You have to scan from its software
Scan by using the HP Scan software (Windows)
Use the HP Scan software to initiate scanning from software on your computer. You can save the scanned
image as a file or send it to another software application.
    1. Load the document on the scanner glass according to the indicators on the product.
NOTE: For best results, load small-size paper (Letter, A4, or smaller) with the long edge of the paper
along the left side of the scanner glass.
    2. Click Start, and then click Programs (or All Programs in Windows XP).
    3. Click HP, and then select your product.
    4. Click HP Scan, select a scanning shortcut, and then adjust the settings if necessary.
    5. Click Scan.

  • Where is my scanned document?

I downloaded two scanned documents from my laptop.  They appear on My Computer,(devices with removable storage) when it's connected to my laptop as Tif files, but I cannot find them on my pre phone when I disconnect from my laptop.

I've done some testing with a new TIF file that I created on my Mac.  If I save a screen capture out as a tif file, and then copy if to the folder "Downloads" on my Pre's USB drive, I am unable to view it using any of the pre-installed applications on my Pre.
I also spent some time checking the Palm App Catalog for a file viewer or other application that can view TIFF files.
It may not be possible at this time to view TIFF files on a webOS device.
In the mean time, I would suggest that you try converting the .tif file into a .jpg file that webOS can view.

  • LaserJet 3020 (also known as Prod. No. Q2665A) -- where is the scanning software?

    Hi,
I have a LaserJet 3020 (also known as Prod. No. Q2665A), with which I would like to do scanning, when using a Windows 8.1 machine (64 bit).
When I go to the HP support page, none of the downloadable software seems to be about scanning, it's all just about printng.
Am I missing something?  Can you actually scan with the software available on that HP support page?
Here is a link to the support page to which I'm referring:

  • Scanning multiple documents into a single pdf file

    Hello,
My scanner is saving each document I scan individually, each page in seperate files.
How can I make it to where I'm scanning multiple pages at once in the feeder and it saves it as a pdf file?
My only options are jpg, bmp, tif, and png.

    Hi,
Which application do you use to scan?
You may scan a such from the HP Scan or the HP Solution Center software, which is available as part of the full feature software.
If you does not have the software installed, from Devices and Printers right click teh Scanner and select Remove Device.
Unplug the Cable and install the following software:

  • HP Scan utility no longer works with Mountain Lion

Updated from 10.6.8 to 10.8.  HP Scan software utility no longer boots, yielding an error message warning of incompatibility.  I run Software Update over and over again, but HP Scan still did not boot.
I ran HP Uninstaller, but it did not remove the HP folder within Applications.  So I deleted HP Scan and other utilities manually.
I ran Software Update again, and it re-downloaded and re-installed HP Printer Software Update 2.11.  However, it did not install the HP Scan utility.  Now I can only scan using the Printer/Fax System Preference or Image Capture, whereas the HP Scan utilility had much more functionality.
Apparently HP Scan is only part of HP's Full Software Install.  However, Mountain Lion ONLY allows the use of Software Update for printers, and there is nowhere on the HP website to download the HP Scan utility or Full Software for Mountain Lion -- they only instruct one to use Apple's Software Update which doesn't provide any HP utilities.
Where can I find the HP Scan utility (for PSC 1610) that is compatible with 10.8?  It certainly is not available from HP -- see:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw _lang=&product=390315
    Thanks.

Please be so kind to help me. HP wanted 30 USD to help me. Why should I pay 30 USD to HP when their new integrated software update does not work?
Had my HP Photosmart Premium C410b for a bit over a year. Worked like a charm in 10.6 and 10.7. I am a frequent user of the HP scan software. I am fully aware that I can use the system pref - > print&scan -> open scanner, BUT that is like going back in time to windows 3.1 days. Try scanning 20 pdf's a day, especially when 2 or more pages in one pdf, add to the equation that My Acrobat X is no longer accepting the scanner either, I can print, but I can't scan, and then I guess we'll agree that the integrated apple scan solution is nothing sort of a emergency solution. I need my HP software!
I downloaded the Lion software file
    HP_Lion_Ink_SW_v12.13.14.dmg [1/1, 194.96M]
But to no use. Only get the message that it is for 10.7 or older.
HP claim that all I need to do is to go to Apple -> Software update and gte the software for my HP printer. I just get the message "No updates available". Can't find the software if I search for it.
I don't know how I found it but from apple's pages I found a 460MB file called HewlettPackardPrint2.12.dmg as one forum suggested it to another persons with same problems. When installing I think it said to take 1GB of space. I still don't know what I installed since I see no software anywhere and nothing changed. Maybe a bunch of drivers for all HP printers ever made? Don't have a clue...
All I want is just that HP scan software so I can go back to my normal workday but it seems so impossible. I really hope someone can help me. Anyone have anything to help me one step closer I sure would appreciate it. I need my HP scan software and Acrobat to work.
Second option is buying a new printer. That's just sad if it comes to that...

  • Scanning directly from Acrobat XI Pro interface no longer working

    OS 10.10.2
    Acrobat XI Pro (latest version)
Cannon PIXMA MX300 scanner/printer (also using its latest drivers and software)
Up until recently, I was able to open Acrobat XI Pro and do a "create new document from scanner..." with no problem. Acrobat scanned in whatever I had on my platen and it was Acrobat's interface through which I controlled any scanning details I needed to change or manipulate. It no longer lets me do this. I'm sent all the way back to the scanner driver and I have to issue commands (including OK) through this driver interface in order to complete my scan making the whole workflow slow, clunky, and a big pain in the a.
Cannon says that there is no newer scanner driver and that in fact, no driver from them is needed now as apparently what is "driving" the scanner now has been built into Apple's OS 10.10.2. yet that old driver window is still apparently being utilized either by Apple or by Adobe when I attempt to scan.
Anyway, HOW DO I GET ACROBAT to behave like it used to - where I can scan from directly inside of Acrobat with just the various messages and whatnot of Acrobat to address?
Yes, I reinstalled the "printer" and have only one single instance of a printer or scanner appearing in the list of choices so... ????!!!
    Help!
    L

YEah - that was what I was thinking but was hoping maybe to find out I was wrong. Ugh. I will send feedback to Apple as seems just kind of unnecessarily "rude". I mean I could understand their insisting on handling the scanning action if I did not have Acrobat open but not if I have an application open I am already working in. It's just rude and causes the user more time and work.
